    Jennifer Horton Deveraux (#1) (1985-1995; 2000-2006; 2010-)

    9.4
Born and raised in Eatontown, New Jersey, Melissa grew up in a close family environment, which included her father, Lawrence Brennan, her mother, Marion, and her older brother David. "My family always gave me a lot of encouragement to pursue a career in the performing arts," explains Melissa. "My dad is a disc jockey in New Jersey and growing up near New York City, a great cultural centre, also didn't hurt." Melissa initially dreamed of dancing professionally and commuted into New York City to study dance with Phil Black. "I took dancing very seriously," recalls Melissa. "Then I landed some commercials when I was fifteen and that gave me the acting bug." Melissa studied theatre at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Institute in Manhattan and soon landed roles in the HBO movie Somewhere Tomorrow and the After School Special - The Lakeside High Experiment. Her first foray into daytime television was on Another World. Landing the role of Jade Perkins on Santa Barbara was Melissa's first contract job on a daytime drama. Melissa relocated to Los Angles and graduated from high school while appearing on Santa Barbara, but after only one year on the show, she was released from her contract when the Perkins family was written off the canvass. In September of 1985, one month after leaving Santa Barbara, Melissa landed the role of Jennifer Horton on Days of our Lives, a role that earned her four Soap Opera Awards and a place amongst television's most beloved heroines. Melissa met her husband, actor Scott Reeves, when he joined the cast of Days of our Lives. At the time, they were both involved with other people and there were no romantic sparks. Sometime later, however, Scott Reeves invited Melissa to a party and on their first date, it was clearly love at first sight. The couple became engaged one month later and they married on March 23, 1990. Scott Reeves, who currently stars as Ryan on The Young and the Restless, and Melissa recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. They currently reside in the San Fernando Valley with their daughter, Emily, and their son, Larry. They have a menagerie of pets, which includes two dogs named Grace and Coco. In 1999, both Melissa and Scott Reeves starred in the film Half a Dozen Babies, which told the real story of the Dilley family and their six little blessings. Melissa likes to unwind by quilting, sewing, and painting. She has blonde hair and green eyes and celebrates her birthday on March 14.moreless

  • Michael T. Weiss

    Michael Horton II (#3) (1985-1990)

    9.5
Michael T. Weiss was born under the sign of Aquarius in Northbrook, a suburb of Chicago. The "T" stands for Terry. "I think parents get together and say, 'Let's stick this kid with a really awful name,' you know what I mean?" He's 6'3" tall, has dark brown hair and brown eyes (btw, he's short-sighted). His father worked in the steel industry and his mother is a homemaker. Michael has two sisters: one is a make-up artist and the other one is in advertising. Michael began acting as a child, appearing in local TV commercials. A friend of his mother, working in the acting industry, suggested young Michael try out for a local tv commercial. He got the part and Michael continued doing other local commercials while growing up. Later, Michael attended Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois. He also studied acting at Second City workshop during this time. As a Freshman he was on Glenbrook's swim team and later on the basketball team, as well as serving on the student council. While still living in Chicago, Michael had a barage of odd jobs e.g. in an electronics store and a zipper factory. Once he worked as a costumed singing telegram deliveryman, with costumes such as a pregnant nun and a leprechaun. At 18, he got his first movie part as an extra in the movie Ordinary People by Robert Redford, for which he was paid $30.00. In 1980 Michael moved to California, where he still lives, but he considers Chicago his home and tries to get back there as often as he can. He attended the University of Southern California's prestigious School of Drama, where he obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the same class as Anthony Edwards, Ally Sheedy and Forrest Whitaker in 1984. During this time, Michael got a role in the musical Hair in Northern California. Along with his other cast members, he played his role completely naked. His parents always supported his acting ideals, coming "to every bad piece of theatre" he played in. Michael hosted the Playboy channel as a V-Jay, saying "Welcome to the Playboy channel". But this didn't last long, cause he started squinting "like a mole" to see the teleprompter, not realizing he needed glasses. The result: he was fired. Michael also worked as physical trainer at Beverly Hills' 'in' fitness center Matrix One with clients such as Pierce Brosnan and James Brolin. His television career started shortly after he graduated from USC. He landed a role in the Soap Opera Days of our Lives, playing Dr. Mike Horton. In early 1990 Michael developed a strong interest in writing and wrote a play entitled Streams of Consciousness. He likes writing and wants to do more, but he has not enough time for it. To stay in shape Michael works out regularly and keeps up his fitness level while traveling by visiting local gyms. He also avoids eating red meat. Michael has a strong interest in environmental issues and is on the board of directors for the Earth Communications Office.. "I believe that everybody on the planet, should take responsibility for their own little planet-- their home. If everybody would change one or two things about their life, we could make a drastic change, so that we could have a sustainable future for our planet." Michael "can't stand people who have no regard for the environment" and to show his concern, he once drove an electric Toyota RAV4 in 1999, which was later replaced by a Toyota Prius, an electric-gas hybrid vehicle. In his sparetime, Michael enjoys the outdoors, travelling, swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving (he is a certified diver). He also enjoys leisurely reading. He has some quirky talents, also he can change his voice pattern to reflect certain accents or dialects and he can wiggle his ears.moreless

    8.3
Thaao Penghlis was born and raised in Sydney, Australia to Greek-born parents. Thaao decided to move to New York City to study art history and fashion. While in New York City, he met acting coach and theatre director Milton Katselas, who helped him discover his true calling, acting. He then made his New York stage debut in the critically acclaimed off-Broadway play "Jockeys." Thaao has appeared in the films "Slow Dancing in the Big City," and "Altered States." Daytime audiences were introduced to Thaao on "General Hospital," where he portrayed devious Victor Cassadine. After Victor met his untimely fate, as many soap opera villains do, Thaao won the role of charismatic Tony DiMera on "Days of our Lives." His additional television credits include drama professor Nicholas Black on the prime-time series revival of "Mission: Impossible," as well as roles in the miniseries "Sadat," Sydney Sheldon's "Memories of Midnight," and the critically acclaimed made for television film "Under Seige." But perhaps his most unusual role was playing the lover of Dame Edna (Barry Humphries) in the cult classic "Les Patterson Saves the World."moreless
  • Frances Reid

    Alice Grayson Horton (1965-2007)

    7.4
Emmy Award nominee Frances Reid, who has played Alice Horton for the entire 35 years Days of our Lives has been on the air, is daytime television's most beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As one of only two remaining original cast members, she is indisputably one of the most revered veterans in soap opera history. She has won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Actress/Mature Role in 1985, 1984, 1979 and 1978 and was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1986/87 and for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a drama series in 1978/79. It is a surprise to many long-time Days viewers who only know her as Alice that Frances had an accomplished acting career prior to her debut on Days on November 8, 1965. Her Broadway appearances include Hamlet with Maurice Evans, Cyrano de Bergerac with Jose Ferrer, Twelfth Night and a Theater Hill production of The Rivals with Mary Boland. Frances also won the role of Mrs. Moonlight in Mrs. Moonlight and Charlotte Corday in Charlotte Corday. Little did she know at that time how the name Corday was to play an important role in her life. Frances' television credits include the Eleventh Hour, Little Mister, Wagon Train, and the movie-of-the-week Mercy Or Murder? Frances' film debut was in the 1937 feature Stage Door with Katharine Hepburn, Lucille Ball and Ginger Rogers. But it was in the 1966 film Seconds, in which Frances played Rock Hudson's wife, where one scene took days to shoot, that pushed Frances in the direction of television, where things move at a much faster pace. Frances' initial entre into TV soap opera was in 1953, when she starred in Portia Faces Life. The show had just converted from radio to TV and was only 15 minutes per episode. Frances, who felt pressured doing one show per day, left after only six months. In 1965, when Ted Corday offered Frances the role of Alice, Frances was hesitant about signing on with Days of our Lives. She was familiar with the pressures of doing a daily show and, at that time, working on a soap opera was not the thing to do. However, roles for women over 30 were not copious and Frances, who always needed to be working, accepted his offer. It's been a great run. And one that Frances takes seriously. To help look out after her fellow actors, she is an active member of the American Federation for Television and Radio Artists, serving as first vice president of the local. Frances was born in Wichita Falls, Texas and raised in Berkeley, California. After graduating from Pasadena Community Playhouse, Reid pursued her acting career immediately, landing a role in the West Coast production of Tovarich. Her father had always told the Reid sisters that they must grow up and take responsibility for their lives, which meant supporting themselves. In Frances' generation it was typical for women to get married, raise children and never hold a job outside the home. But thanks to her father, Frances didn't follow the conventional social wisdom. Although she was married to the late actor Phillip Bourneuf for 43 years, the couple never had children. Most people might find it hard to believe, considering she epitomizes matriarchy on Days of our Lives. But Frances makes up for it by being a terrific aunt and constantly entertains her nieces and nephews. When not acting, Frances is an inveterate traveler. Her vacations find her in such exotic locales as South Africa, Peru, China and Egypt and the more mundane but no less exciting cities of Europe, most recently those in Italy. Perhaps the words about independence that Reid's father used to preach to her is the reason why she is still in Salem. According to Frances, age is no reason to retire from the thing she loves to do best - act.moreless

    John Black (1986-2009, 2011-)

    8.1
Back in his hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Drake, who stars as John Black on Days of our Lives, had every intention of becoming a dentist. A gifted athlete, Drake was tapped by the St. Louis Cardinals after high school, but chose instead to attend college on a baseball scholarship. After graduating from the University of Southern Florida, Tampa, in microbiology, he was drafted by the New York Yankees and played the glamorous position of third base for the farm team in Oneonta, New York until he was sidelined by an injury in 1978. Around that time Drake was discovered by Joshua Shelley who was then running the Columbia Pictures national talent search program. Of the 75,000 aspiring actors who were submitted to the studio, Drake was among 30 whom were finally chosen. He was flown to Los Angeles to participate in an intensive three month training workshop, and while he was new to the stage, he found himself once again perfectly atm home in the spotlight. Just like third base. Drake's first starring role was the series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, in which he played the taciturn sibling with few lines but a compelling presence and a lot of attitude. The series lasted one season, after which Drake starred in an unsold pilot and finally, in January 1986, landed the role of John Black on Days of our Lives.moreless

  • Kristian Alfonso

    Hope Williams Brady (1983-1987; 1990; 1994-) / Gina von Amburg (1999-2000)

    8.3
Kristian Alfonso has successfully made the transition from starring roles on television, in both the daytime and primetime arena, to feature films. In 1994, Kristian returned to Days of ourLives as a woman of mystery whose true identity was finally revealed to be Hope Brady. Hope is the character she created in 1983 on the daytime drama, endearing her to audiences the world over as half of one of daytime television's most romantic couples: Bo & Hope. Kristian has also co-starred with Kate Jackson in the TV movie Whatever Happened to Bobby Earl, portraying an evil, manipulative woman and guest-starred on a segment of Steve Oederkerk.com, a comedy special that aired on NBC. Kristian grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts, where, as a teenager, she was an above average student whose extra-curricular activities were divided between rigorous ice-skating and dance s. She won the gold medal at the Junior Olympics in figure skating when she was 13 years old. In fact, a combination of innate athletic ability and a fierce competitive spirit made her a natural to compete in the Olympics had it not been for an unfortunate bobsledding accident, which ended both her skating and dancing career. That tragedy quickly turned into opportunity for Kristian when Wilhelmina, the world-famous model and agency owner persuaded her to enter the glamorous world of cover girls. By the age of 15, Kristian had graced the covers of 30 international magazines including Vogue and Bazaar. Her modelling assignments took her through five continents and led to her current career as an actress. At age 16, then NBC casting director Vicki Rosenberg saw Kristian's picture and cast her opposite Rock Hudson in the movie Starmaker, which eventually led to her role on Days of our Lives. Following her departure from Days of our Lives, Kristian starred for two years as Pilar Ortega on CBS-TV's night-time soap, Falcon Crest. In 1991, Kristian agreed to reprise her role on Days of our Lives for a short period in order to wrap up her character's storyline. Additionally, Kristian hosted Love Stories, a half-hour syndicated reality show that focused on relationships in the '90s. She starred opposite Dolph Lundgren in the feature film Joshua Tree; co-starred with Shannen Doherty and Judd Nelson in the suspense-thriller Blindfold, a USA Network movie; and guest-starred in the recurring role of 'Lauren Etheridge' on FOX-TV's popular Melrose Place. Kristian currently makes her home in Los Angeles with her son, Gino.moreless
  • Jason Brooks

    Peter Blake (1992-1996; 1997-1998)

    8.9
Jason Brooks, a dashingly handsome and imposingly built brown-haired TV actor, earned fame with his 1993-98 portrayal of likable villain Peter Blake on the popular NBC daytime drama Days ofOur Lives and later stepped in as David Hasselhoff's protege on the syndicated series Baywatch (1999-2001). A Colorado native, Brooks and his family moved to Los Angeles at age seven and was unable to fight the call of show business despite his more academically-inclined background. 1990 saw the actor make his start with a guest role in the ABC series Doogie Howser, M.D. as well as a featured part in the USA Network TV-movie I'm Dangerous Tonight. In 1992, Brooks tried out for Baywatch and was cast in a guest role, but though producers were interested in the actor for a long-term part he had been picked up by NBC to co-star on Days of Our Lives. Here he originated the character Peter Blake, an undeniably attractive charmer with obsessive designs on Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) who hid his dastardly plots through the cunning and charisma he no doubt inherited from his notorious father figure Stefano (Joseph Mascolo). Spinning into self-destruction and megalomania, Peter exited the series' Salem setting as a pathetically well-meaning scoundrel. Brooks' versatile appeal and acting ability made him an attractive TV-movie property, and he was featured in several in the 90s, including the ABC thriller Alibi (1997), the UPN sci-fi actioner The Darwin Conspiracy and the CBS tearjerker Three Secrets (both 1999). Guest roles on the series Friends (NBC, 1997), Early Edition (CBS, 1999) and Hollywood Off-Ramp (E! Entertainment Television, 2000) kept the actor busy, while a 1999 recurring role on the intriguing drama The Pretender marked his return to NBC in a challenging part with the time and freedom for more character development that he was afforded in guest shots. In 1999, Brooks returned to regular series television with a role on the revamped lifeguard drama Baywatch. As the assured and organized head of the lifesaving team, Brooks' Sean Monroe was groomed to replace the departing Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff) and breathed new life into the faltering show. Brooks brought a believable dramatic edge to the often-mocked series with his earnest portrayal, while his skills and athletic good looks won over audiences.moreless

  • Millicent Martin

    Lili Faversham (1998-1999)

    8.8
Her flame-red hair suggested both great reserves of energy and an earthiness that wasn't to be messed with; she was pretty and a good actress; but it was the voice, above all, which made Millicent Martin someone very special in British television in the 1960s. Sounding sometimes like a mellifluous corncrake, sometimes like a sweet bell, and always like nothing else on earth, the voice was made for the intricate lyrics (different every week) for the title-song of "That Was The Week That Was", a show which also always gave her a terrific jazz song to sing about halfway through (usually composed by the team of Dave Lee and Stephen Vinaver). She was funny and clever and singular, and she did altogether too little on British TV after "TW3" was cravenly curtailed by the BBC at the end of 1963. America gave her better chances - she starred in "Side By Side By Sondheim" on Broadway, had a recurring role in a short-lived series called "Downtown" and had a late triumph on "Frasier", playing Daphne's impossible mother.moreless
