    • Soap / Show Vet is Mimi's Mother
JUDI EVANS LUCIANO, has been cast to play the role of Bonnie Lockhart, Mimi's mother. Bonnie, whose husband has run out on her, is an aspiring country singer.

If you're wondering, where have I heard the name Judi Evans Luciano before ..... she previously played Adrienne Johnson (Jack's sister) on Days from 1986-1991. She also originated the role of Beth Raines on Guiding Light, and played Paulina Cory for 8 years on the now cancelled Another World. Evans also starred as Patsy Ramsey in 2000's Getting Away with Murder: The JonBenet Ramsey Mystery.

If you're wondering "this doesn't sound right", you're right. We previously saw Mimi's mother, Maureen, in 2000 when Mimi was revealed as homeless, and was played by character actress Robin Riker for a couple months. They show then recast her with Kathy Connell, who played Maureen in guest appearances in 2000, 2001, and 2002 (the completion of the habitat house, OperaGirl.Net, Paul Mendez threatened her, and at Mimi's graduation). The character, in addition to undergoing an unexplained name change, has also been massively rewritten - and is now reportedly an embarrassment to her daughter, a country singer and man hungry. Her character also supposedly makes her living by cleaning houses. Further information about her character: Ms. Lockhart is a tell-it-like-it-is, quirky, hip woman. She can be smooth and charming in front of others, then talk trash about them behind their backs. She makes no bones about her jealousy toward the other, more 'successful' families in Salem, and she doesn't much care that her less than classy behavior often embarrasses her daughter. Bonnie's always looking for a way to earn money the easy way, because she resents the fact she's had to struggle all her life. While she and Mimi are close, her mother's 'woe-is-me' routine does not go unnoticed by Mimi. Though a funny character on many levels, we'll see that her antics are not without repercussions.

    • Get reacquainted with Judi Evans!
Everyone at Days of our Lives is thrilled to welcome Judi Evans back into the fold and she's just as thrilled to rejoin her Salem family as Bonnie Lockhart, lovable Mimi's mom. In fact, she "couldn't be happier," about returning to Salem and calls it her "home away from home." She is aware, though, that many of Days' longtime fans remember her former stint in Salem, as Adrienne Johnson, wife of Justin Kiriakis. She remembers the character of Adrienne fondly and loved playing her, but she's still definitely looking forward to giving Mimi a mama and fleshing out Bonnie, who she describes as "a scrapper .... always fighting to scratch her way to the top. And without a really fine line between good and bad, just really trying to go out there and get ahead in life. I'm really looking forward to her. I'm so excited about this character. I fell in love with her the moment I read about her." She's also excited about her onscreen daughter and the actress who plays her, Farah Fath, calling her "a real spitfire. She's got a lot of heart."

Speaking of kids with a lot of heart, Judi's real-life son, Austin, played her on-screen son Dante Carlino during her last soap stint, Another World where she was the second Paulina. She says that Austin "likes being on TV. When we make home movies, he can't wait to go watch them. Everything is a big drama with him. It plays out like that every day." When asked whether she thinks he'll follow in mom's footsteps into the business when he grows up, she laughed and said, "I don't know if he can avoid it. My parents were in show business pretty much all their lives; my husband is a cameraman. I don't think he has a choice. It's destiny."

As far as her other Another World costars, Judi tells us she recently saw Joe Barbara, the actor who played her on-screen hubby Joseph Carlino, when they appeared on the chat show SoapTalk together. Like any job, though, it's been difficult to truly keep in touch with all the other cast members, as "everybody scattered so fast." Since the cancellation, she's relished her time as more of a full-time mom to Austin, getting very involved with his school and nourishing his budding career in show biz, because, as her quick-witted young son told her "your number one job is taking care of me!" She's just as happy, though, to be continuing her own show biz career, especially with a character as "multifaceted and different and cool" as Bonnie. You'll be able to catch this cool character -- and the trouble it looks like she's going to start. (Info taken from NBC.com.)
