We find out that a reaper can reap a graveling.
Featured Deaths:
- Street Singer hit by window (soul taken by Daisy)
- Old Man hit by window (soul taken by Daisy)
- Rube's daughter (soul taken by Penny)
- Ray the graveling (destroyed by George)
George receives a post-it, but we never see her reap. Could it have been Ray the Graveling?
Since the dog George gave her sister was named J.D., short for Just Dog, her sister names the frog she's given J.F., short for Just Frog.
It is clearly established in this episode that Rube's nickname for George ("Peanut") was originally his pet name for his daughter Rosie.
Pedantic correction: although George is convinced Rube died in 1927, this is unconfirmed and flatly contradicts him being around to pick up Betty in 1926. This raises the intriguing possibility that he was already dead when Rosie knew him as 'Papa'.
Kiffany: Did you take that man's steak?
Mason: He was finished. And we wouldn't want to waste food now, would we Kiffany? Not when there are children starving in Boston.
Mason: All these f*ing assumptions that society makes, man. It's like, you know; "get a job," "eat food," "live in a house." It's fascism, that is. Absolute f*ing fascism...
George: Seriously Mason, you need to get close to a toothbrush.
Dolores: GEORGIA LASS!
George (bumping her head): What?!
Dolores: What?
George (quickly rethinking): Who?
George: God, I couldn't even land this job without a note from my mom.
George: I'm already dead, so curiosity can't kill me.
Georgia: Mason!! I was getting some piano-man attention!
Rosie: Pappa, I've been waiting for you!
Roxy: You really don't get it, do you Mason? This is our home and you just pissed all over it!
Mason: I was living off the fat of the land.
Roxy: No! What you were doing was disrespecting the last place you actually belong. And the only living person you know who puts up with your freeze-dried bullshit.
Rube: Still doing that no ice nonsense.
Penny: Hey, you go down with the Titanic see how you feel about ice.
Daisy: You are always in your own head. It's like your talking to yourself.
George (V/O): Am I?
Misty: I think I'm still married in Louisiana, and maybe Kansas. Topeka is in Kansas, right?
Gavin DeGraw perfoms his own songs as the Street Musician including the song "Chariot."
The song Rube sings to his daughter is "(I'll Be Loving You) Always," written by Irving Berlin in 1925. Josephine Baker recorded it in 1926, which is probably how Rube learned the song.
Kiffany: (This) Is a clean, well-lighted place.
This is a reference to a poem/short story which features an man that comes by everyday at the same time, even when it's a burden to the waiters. The name of the story is "A clean, well-lighted place."
Rube: Still doing that no ice nonsense.
Penny: Hey, you go down with the Titanic see how you feel about ice.
This points to the fact that Penny was one of the lost souls on the maiden voyage of Titanic. Whoa that must have been some reaper job!
