Episode Summary

Deadliest Sea is the true story of the fishing vessel The St. Christopher that set sail from Kodiak Alaska into the face of an Arctic storm. A young man from the Prairies, Tommy Wallace, is on his first voyage, but the ship's captain and rag-tag crew are experienced - just ill-prepared for the hurricane force winds whipping the sea into forty foot waves. In the dark of night, with the boat sinking, the captain delivers his final 'Mayday' to the Coast Guard and the entire crew take to the sea in outdated Survival Suits. Over the next fourteen hours they perish one at a time - even the young pregnant cook. The next morning Tommy Wallace washes ashore just barely alive . When he regains consciousness he discovers that one other shipmate miraculously survived the storm.

All 11 hands abandoned the ship, but she righted herself after abandoned and was later found afloat and remained so for a time. She was towed to port and sank while moored there. There were two survivors, one of them a greenhorn. Edit
