  • Powerful, emotionally grabbing. Reality TV has finally taken a turn towards reality.

In the 2nd episode chronically the tragic stroke that fell on Captain Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie, I could not hold back tears. I, like nearly all of the Deadliest Catch viewers, new and old, know how the story ends. But it is the path it takes getting there that is truly heart breaking.

The emotion on display by not only the Harris boys, Josh and Jake, but by the other captains and crews of the rest of the fleet is real, and it hurts. Jake Anderson, dealing with his own fears and demons regarding his father, has tears rolling down his cheeks as he is told the news. This is one of the most powerful moments that I've ever seen on TV, and for once, it's not scripted. It's not a bunch of actors telling a story line. It is real, it is true, it is, reality.
