Deadliest Catch

Back for its second season Deadliest Catch is still action packed and problem ridden. What everyone thought would be a one season wonder has returned for the surprise of many fans.



The King Crab season has begun with new rules in place. The fleet is smaller but the crab count goes unchanged. This season starts harsh with Mother Nature working against them. Boats plagued with bad luck get a late start while another must head back to port.



Three new boats this year are featured. The stakes are still high and the fishing starts out hit or miss.



Overall a great episode and the remembrance of “Big Valley” weigh on the minds of everyone. This viewer cannot wait for the next episode.

An all new season that is continuing the drama that was showed in the first season. That is also full with a bunch of new things, which includes new faces, new rules, and new ships, but some old face also come back in this season.

It is nice to see a show that many fans thought wouldn’t be coming back due to the change in the fishing rules from the pervious season. For many people think that the show wouldn’t have the same type of interests as it had when the derby style of finishing. Gone, are the days derby style of fishing, when a boat could caught as much crab as they can in the allotted time and without spoilage, replaced by quotas that is based off their performance from last season. A strategy that was brought out to make the season fairer for all of the fishing boats, but it is a double edge sword. For, the new rule change might help boats that did a terrible season from the pervious year, but be a hinder for boats that did a great season. In so, the new rule change has forced some boats to bail out which includes some boats that were covered by show last year, which resulted in the fleet of boat which was 205 ships as last year, to be cut down to 92 boats. Also in this new rule change has resulted in the King Crab Season last longer as well, which increasing the danger as well.

But, the one thing that hasn’t be change is the danger that all of these crews must face when they are working, for the Bering Sea is one of the most extreme environments with the weather conditions changes in a matter of seconds and the freezing waters which these ships travel on is also a constant treat as well. For without a survival suit the freezing waters can kill a person in a matter of ten minutes.

As I said before, the rule change as resulted in some of the ships that were covered by the series to bail out, which includes the Sea Star, the Saga, the Lucky Lady, and others. So this resulted in the coverage of three pervious unknown ships, which are, the Cornelia Marie, the Rollo, and the Time Bandit. I personally think this is a good decisions of the part of the producers of the show, because it gives the show a fresh look for one is looking through the show via a different sets of eyes than the ones that one saw in the last season.

With all of the new things that were in this episode is nice to see that some of the old things are back as well, which includes the return of the Northwestern and the Marvick, both are fan favorites.

All in all, this episode marks the return of a great show that was long thought wouldn’t come back for another season, that is mixed with a little bit of the old and a lot of the new.
