Episode Summary

As the King Crab season drawls to a close, a mass amounts of stinging jellyfish by catch in unfilled pots add insult to injury. The Cornelia Marie could face losing their captain for good. The crew mistakes onboard Northwestern could be costly.

  • Bad weather; sick birds; Phil's health is failing; Is Moi gonna make it? Spirits aren't as tense on the Northwestern and the North American should have stayed tied to the dock. What a bunch of whiners her crew are! Dad, you should have said "NO".moreless

I have faithfully watched this program since it was called the Deadliest Job in the World and was actually an annually run 1 hour docudrama. I used to commercial fish (gillnet Salmon in Oregon) and just the excitement of what's gonna be in the gear when it comes back on the boat, it takes your breath away sometimes. I miss feeling that way and thanks to this program, I can kind of relive it watching these guys.

This week; I thought it was sweet that Johnathan wanted to save the sick Cormorant but Andy was right; if it was meant to live; it needed to be put back into it's habitat and courtesy of some nasty waves, it was. Johnathan is really one of my favorite skippers (but calm down, Bud) and he does have a terrific crew. But the show isn't the same as it used to be. Yeah I know, we can only make pulling 800lb pots look interesting for so long but I miss how the show would jump between just four-five boats before; keeping us up to date on how all of them are doing. It seemed we knew the crews better.

Now its a race to see who has the best film to fill the hour and it is NOT the North American. Do us a favor and do not rig this boat up for next year, PLEASE! Did the entire crew as well as the boat take off five years? Booorrring. What a bunch of whiny babies. And I noticed this; all the crew are arguing with the deck boss. Major No-No. You do what he says, when he says it. If Sten was worried about what was happening on deck and not where to dump his gear, I think that everybody's site would be pulled and they'd all be off-loaded at St. Paul Island. If I was Sten, I'd just tell my Dad that it was a huge mistake and then I'd take the big girl back down to Seattle.

It was great to see The Northwestern this week although it was just for a fleeting few minutes. Glad to see everybody's playing nice again. And Keith (Wizard Skipper), why does Moi always look like he's about to cry?

I hope that Phil is all right although I'm thinking if his health doesn't improve we might not see him for Opie season. I hope I'm wrong. And boys, Jake and Josh; what a way to take care of your Dad!moreless
