Stupid and silly greenhorn mistakes, plus a possible change over of command in one of the ships, plus horrible weather conditions equals definitely one of the best episodes of the new season.
This episode started off like any other type of episode of this show, with the footage switching from ship to ship, kept us up to date about the stasis of each ship and how they are faring in this job with each individual ship with their own different type of drama that is playing out on each ships. Now on a normal day, none of these specific dramas are strong enough to get your attention, only if you are rooting for that specific ship.
Now, the first drama is the possible change of command of the Maverick from the captain/current owner of the ship, Rick Quashnick, to Blake Painter, the ship's engineer for five years. Now, the change of command from the experienced Rick, to the inexperienced Blake has ruffled a few feathers in this close-kit crew to point that some of the crew where thinking of getting of the boat when Rick takes command of the ship. With very good and valid points, for the place that they fish has to be one of the world worst places to do so, not the place for a new captain to earn his feet. For one would want a captain that has the huge amount of experience that Rick has when fishing in that region of the world. While I did want Blake to get to captained this ship, I agree with most of the crew, that he might have a decent knowledge of how to fish and how to handle of fishing boat, he dose not have enough knowledge to captained this boat in this season. Plus his mind set didn't help either in the finally decision that Rick made, which was to stay with the boat after all.
The second drama, or the B story if you can stay with this show, centers around the Rollo, that in the pervious episodes had a real bad string of luck, with some of her equipment falling for her and her crew and picking up the wrong type of crab. One can't help by feel for this ship and all of her trails and tribulations as her crew try to make money, for one has to reminder that this is their job that they are doing. That when they do hit a string of good luck, one can't help but be glad that they are making some type of money and they do. But, only to be stopped by the a surprise boat inspection of the Coast Guard, that could possibly shut down their season if they don't have all of their wires crossed in the right way, which they do. Another good sing of this ship and another reason why to start liking this ship.
Yet, another good reason to like this ship, is the eccentric crew and captain of this ship, for they are they are the type of ship that beats to a different drum. There is nothing wrong with that, if fact I like people like this and this eccentric nature of this ship, might explain all of the silly, but funny moves that they performed on the deck of the ship while they were in the between pulling up pods. For what can one do while you are stuck in the middle? While I did like, because it a type of thing that might be need to break up the long hours of back breaking work that this men have to face in this job.
But the one thing that nerved me, was what one of the Greenhorns did, he took the hook and did a Tarzan-like swing over the sub zero waters of the Barring Sea, having no clue what was going to happen to him in the end. A dumb move on this part, for he had no clue if he was going to clear or not, which he didn't, he smack on the side of the ship, which could of easily knocked him right into the water, which lucky for him didn't happen. While, this dangerous move of his didn't end up with his going into the water, it still doesn't lessen the fact that he did a dangerous and even fatal move on his part. A move on his part, I would think that he wouldn't be doing all to soon the next time when he has idle time on his hand. This tell me that captain of this ship, has a totally lack of discipline on his part, or his crew doesn't respect him, a move that I know wouldn't be allow on any of the covered ships. This also staring for to dislike this ship despite the nature of the ship and her crew. For, I don't like how the captain of that ship is commanding his ship, for it seems to me that he has no sense of safely for his crew. If that was true, he wouldn't stop the Greenhorn dead in his tracks before he would do it.
But the real kicker in this episode, was the C story, is the introduction of the a pervious unknown ship, the Aleutian Ballad captained by Terry Tilley. Which started when one of its Greenhorns told its captain that he had enough and that he was going to jump overboard despite the fact that jumping into these waters will kill him in a matter of minutes. So the Aleutian Ballad is forced to head back to port so that they can get their Greenhorn back to shore as soon as they can, coasting this ship money. After they do that, they head back to sea to start fishing again, but they are caught dead center in the middle of a ranging storm, which is so bad that they have to stop fishing for the safely of the crew. Then out of a blue, a huge 65 foot rouge wave smacks on the side of the Ballad with so much force that Wheelhouse's window is broken and that the camera that is monitoring what he is doing is knock on its side. The only thing that he were heard is shots and alarms from the crew of the ship, and with that episode ends, making this the first true cliffhanger of this series.moreless

Wow! The last two minutes makes this the best episode ever. Definitely a huge cliff-hanger. The whole episode is very good. The people who put the show together are very good at showing the emotions these people go through. From Blake\'s disappointment at not being named captain to the stupid greenhorns swinging on cables, this episode is fantastic!!!! I loved the Coast Guard portion. You could see how nervous the captain was, and it helped create sympathy for the captain and his crew. And the send off the Coast Guard got was awesome! I was laughing my you-know-what off. But definitely make sure you watch the last few minutes. I can\'t wait to find out what happens during the next episode.moreless
