Looks like we may find out Tuesday. It's one of the two fights for the Season 1 transition into Season 2. The Spartan Shield makes me wanna say that he'll win on defense and counter-attack, but I wouldn't count out the Samurai based on his speed and quickness. If was was going to guess, I'd guess Spartan.
Well, looks like Spartan won. I love being right, even if it was a guess. 
Spetznaz vs. IRA was also interesting. Good conclusion to the season.

Low budget, maybe? It did look pretty bad.
Ok since i didnt see what they said about either im just going off what i read in books and seen on history discovery etc... and going off what i seen in these places i am choosing the samurai the simple fact is that the samurai was primaly a mount archer first they only fought in hand to hand combat when completely nessecary they where also deadly accurate probably could be thought of as the first snipers in history But having said all that alot of the shows episodes I have seen of this show are bull becuase they only take into account one on one or small groups and since spartans, roman, etc where only truly effective when they where in a phalanx I see nothing being decided you also have to think of what kind of battlefeild they are on is it a constrainded field witch would give the spartans the adavantage allowing them to easily protect their flanks or a huge wide open area where the samurai mounted speed would allow them to easy flank the spartans in the end these are two of the greatest warriors to ever live so i think victory would come down to terrain more then anything else

300 Spartans held off a Persian army of half a million men for 3 days, and made them pay so dearly that they lost all taste for battle and were defeated soon there after. 300 - Dead to the last man, yes.. However, they are believe to have killed between 100 thousand - 200 thousand during the fight. They are immortalized for having done the impossible in the greatest military stand in human history - Fact! Their is even special forces training holding the name spartan. They are truly the greatest historical warrior, hands down! Trained since birth to take pain, kill, and be the best. If there was any imperfection with a child, they were discarded/killed. As the Spartans were driven to perfection as a whole. Sever an arm, they would still come at you..Blind them, they would still come at you. Truly amazing! It was not at all surprising that they would be the victor in this fight! Any ancient warrior shown in the first season and second would fail to best a Spartan, whether it is individually based, or unit based.. (1 on 1, or greater numbers both sides). Name any culture that has taken part in a greater military feat then that of which was previously stated...And I'll call you a liar!
Spartans went into the historic battle knowing they would all die..A truly amazing feat in of it self, which begs questioning if their was a higher hand at play.

Even with the geographical positioning taken into account..With the sheer number of forces opposite to them, for the Spartans to have accomplished what they did is truly astounding!
It's definitely impressive but there's a LOT to be said about geography...a small band that can just pop out of thin air on the rocks surrounding an army can do more damage in a few seconds than most can do in minutes. When you've got that choke point you not only force the opposing army to fight in comparable numbers but at the same time you put them into a horrific situation. In that sort of battle I wouldn't be surprised (unfortunately we have no info to tell, but this makes sense) that nearly as many men would have died by being trampled to death as anything. When you have some hundred thousand men all charging directly into a choke point you'll be OK until you hit those shields and then thousands of men behind are going to ram themselves and their weapons directly into the combatants ahead of them (and unless they're in the front line that's going to be another persian warrior). *shrug* don't get me wrong, the Spartans are bad-ass warriors, but a HUGE army can be completely decimated by a very small force if the terrain is perfect...
Yes in the battle fo thermpoplaye geography played a role however that was a battle just to buy time . In the battle of plataea the Spartans and the Greek army defeated the Persian army in a more open battle field.
