  • In this episode of DW, Hannibal, the victor of Cannae faces off with the greatest conqueror the world has ever known - Genghus Khan. Who is deadliest?

    9.0
In this episode of the Deadliest Warrior, Hannibal, the victor of Cannae faced-off against the great Mongol conqueror, Genghis Khan, and lost, primarily because of his armour and sword. Basically, this is a re-match of "Alexander the great vs. Attila the hun" episode: unlike the modern warriors, in the pre-gunpowder settings, the more modern warrior will always win.

Of course, both Hannibal and Genghis Khan teams produced quite an impressive array of weapons, and it is Hannibal's war elephant that was the star of the show. There is something simply very impressive about a charging war elephant, you know? Sadly, that wasn't enough to defeat Genghis Khan, whose bow was a superior ranged weapon to Hannibal's javelin (which was more of a mid-reach weapon anyways). Better weapons, also somewhat better armour - Hannibal lost fair and square.

However, there was also the issue of the tactics. DW staff just cannot condence tactics designed for an entire army into tactics for a small (4-5) group of soldiers, they just can't. I just don't see them doing it in an any visible way. That said, it was still a great episode, and I enjoyed watching it a lot. Cheers!moreless
