Show Summary

From Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf (Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Deadline stars Platt as Wallace Benton, a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the New York Ledger, whose influence extends well beyond the newsroom. Conti will play the imposing, powerful and eccentric owner of the Ledger; Neuwirth will play Wallace's bright and ambitious editor; Davis will play Oliver's estranged wife and an award-winning, cutting edge journalist in her own right and Taylor will play the aggressive gossip columnist (with more files than J. Edgar Hoover) who bonds with Wallace against their mutual boss. Deadline explores the fast-paced and high pressure world of tabloid journalism. From the daily staff meetings -- a veritable round robin of who's who and what's what in New York -- to Benton's unprecedented stable of contacts and sources -- viewers will see firsthand the impact of media on society. Though critically acclaimed, NBC aired only 5 episodes nationally before the lack of an audience forced the network to pull the series. During March and April 2001, NBC aired the remaining 8 episodes on the West Coast before the reruns were picked up a year later by Bravo.moreless
