Here is what I have heard so far...and it is not exactly good news at all for Deadwood fans. Even with the cancelation of "John" and all the fans screaming for a Deadwood Finale, we are no closer to having the final chapter of Deadwood being completed.

As for what David Milch is doing...he had his contract with HBO extended to August of 2008, and he is currently working on writing a new show for HBO. It is a NY City cop show set in the 70's. It is about a Vietnam vet who returns for the war to join the police force. This is apparently a show that Milch pitched to HBO before Deadwood and now they want to move forward with it.

Still no good news on the Deadwood movies. I read this in the Chicago Tribune this morning.

    -----------------------------------------------
    Deadwood dead?

    W. Earl Brown, who plays Dan Dority on "Deadwood" (notice the hopeful yet probably deluded use of the current tense), recently talked to David Milch, who created the acclaimed HBO western, and here's what Brown had to say on his MySpace page about those two "Deadwood" films that fans were promised:

"I had been very optimistic that we would be seeing more 'Deadwood' episodes, at the least the two promised 'movies.' I left David's office with my optimism on the wane. It doesn't look good, dear 'Deadwood' fans ..."

I hope these movies aren't completely dead, but it's starting to seem as if they'd be impossible to make at this point. The cast is scattered, Milch holds out little hope, and at a July press event, HBO executives were decidedly cool to the idea of making the "Deadwood" movies.

    Cue the Al Swearengen-style cussing.

Its so sad that Deadwood most likely is over for good.

My favorite show never comes back, yet so many terrible shows keep being renewed for another season.

    You suck balls HBO.
