Either the writers only had an eighth grade education or they were so afraid that the story line was so poor, they felt they needed to distract everyone's attention away from it with the foul language. At first, my wife and I sat through the show in hopes the language would get better after the story line developed.

Eventually, we had all we could stand and started looking for something else to watch. What a waste of time. I should have known better. For Deadwood to last several seasons, someone must have been watching. I guess it is just another indicator of the moral decline.moreless
  • Bullock becomes Sherriff of Deadwood, Alma and Bullock get it on. The minister/priest finally dies after suffering for several episodes. Al is just the same old Al, looking out for himself and only himself overall.moreless

I personally think that this was a very nice season finale for this show. It came all full circle. Bullock in the pilot episode wanted to free himself from being Sherriff and in the season finale he chooses to be Sherriff of Deadwood. Alma and Bullock getting together finally occured after almost a whole season of flirting and looks. I really liked this finale, it was well written, of course brilliantly acted and I can't wait for what is to come.moreless

    • Seth Bullock: (after beating Alma's father) Leave this camp. And draw a map for anyone who wants to believe your fucking lies. Anyone wants to put your daughter or her holdings in jeopardy, you show 'em how to get here. And you tell 'em I'll be waiting.

    • Seth Bullock: I'll be the fucking sheriff.
      Al Swearengen: Starting when?
      Seth Bullock: Starting now.
Al Swearengen: You have the tin?
      Seth Bullock: I do.
      Al Swearengen: Produce it.
(Seth stands up, and pulls out the badge)
      Al Swearengen: On the tit.
Seth Bullock: I know where it goes.

    • General Crook: (to Bullock) We all have bloody thoughts.

    • Swearengen: Get the fuck out of here, doc. I'm working on my deployments and flanking maneuvers.

    • Swearengen: I woulda let him lay in state, but I needed the room for my whores.

    • Swearengen: Forgo your bath a moment, magistrate, unless you want a girl to sponge you while we converse?

    • Doc Cochran: A man being cared for and made comfortable until he expires. The girls you put to the task deduct your time from my pay.
Al Swearengen: I get the bag of shit.
Doc Cochran: You get to care for a human being in his last extremity.
Al Swearengen: A human being in his last extremity is a bag of shit.
      Doc Cochran: **** you Al!
(Al turns and looks at the doc surprised)

    • Al: Announcing your plans is a good way to make God laugh.

    • Al: Anyways... sheriff. I'm going to walk past that blood stain that misteriously appeared and go oversee my business interests.
