Deal or No Deal

There is very little to say about most of this show, and I have a lot to say about some, so I will cut to the chase. The game plays out excellent, with a $404,000 offer being the result of $25, $500,000 and $1 million being the final three cases.



Looking completely unworried about the size of the offer, the poker player with a poker face decides that because she owns the million, she should be completely unworried about anything, and turns down the offer. The next case is opened....



"It is not the $25.



...But you have the million."



Now, this is even more treacherous-looking. $25 versus $1,000,000. But she still says it's there! If I were her, I would either be serious or give up this silly charade now, while there's still redemption. So Howie asks her if she really does have it before giving the offer. She still says yes..and Howie says "Really?"



That should have stopped her there!



The offer? It drops..



To only $341,000.



This is clearly not walking money, as the net gain by continuing is $318,025 - almost the offer itself. Marybeth seems to agree, the bench agrees...But her fiance, John, doesn't. It's still a bunch of cash. Now let me ask you a few questions: Why didn't you object when she still said it was there right after the $500,000 case opened? Didn't I hear you say No Deal to $404,000? And you say she wouldn't be happy with $341,000...Your math is backwards!



This couple has been together for seven years. Now this should settle it...



"Listen to me...I know I have the million!"



But it doesn't! "Please don't! You can't!"



A million is life changing, and $341,000 is life-changing? Again, who told her to refuse something life-changing earlier?



Eventually, the moment of truth comes..



"I came on the show..and I truly tried out because I knew that this moment would come. And I knew that I had the million dollars in my case..."



Yes. Come on..



"But I have to tell you..."



Please not this again!!



"My fiance means more than anything in the world.."



Don't tell me you love him when you ignored his pleas by refusing his "good reason" earlier!



"And I know that this money is life-changing.."



Then is $404,000 life changing or not?



Don't! Nooooo!!!



As much as I want to kick her behind, I can do nothing as she hits the button anyways, and then..



She does have it! What a loser!



I will be haunted by this forever. America has officially proven that their IQs are less than their age.



If she loves him, she wouldn't resist him. If he loves her, he would trust her with their money.



If you knew this could happen, you would know that you would have to do this, and you would not make a promise you could not keep! On top of that, the statistics have never been stronger in favor of going on: My calculations have shown that the upside went up 65.61% more than the downside after the $500,000 case went out. And you want her to deal after that?!



You're a poker player?



You have a brain? That's difficult to believe. Why NBC even aired this hour of worthlessness is beyond me. This is the worst episode of television I have ever watched, and it will always stay that way. ALWAYS.

Mary Beth Holtzheimer had a great game. She turned down a $158K poker package with poker pro Annie Duke and it paid off for Mary at the end. With eight cases left, Mary had three high cases in play, including the million. With six cases left, the million and 500K cases were still in play. Mary turned down the $404K bank offer with three cases left but opened the 500K case next. Mary took the $341K deal with the million and $25 cases left. Turns out it was a bad deal though, as Mary had the million in her case.
