Episode Summary

Second Season Premiere

Singers Lou Rawls and Gail Martin (Dean Martin's daughter) take over as co-hosts for the second season of this series serving as the summer replacement, and occupying the time slot, of The Dean Martin Show.

Returning from the previous season as regulars are comics Paul Lynde and Stanley Myron Handleman, as well as Les Brown and His Band of Renown, and of course, the series' namesake -- the twelve beautiful female singer-dancers who comprise The Golddiggers. Joining the cast for the new season are singer-dancer Tommy Tune, comic Albert Brooks, and singer Danny Lockin.

Whereas the focus of the first season of the series was the popular culture of the 1930s Depression era, this second season trains its sights on the music and culture of the 1940s.

Musical Highlights
Lou Rawls: "My Buddy"; "St. Louis Blues"
Gail Martin: "He Loves Me"
The Golddiggers: "Opus One"
Tommy Tune: "Mountain Greenery"
Tommy Tune, Danny Lockin, Paula Cinko (of The Golddiggers) & Joyce Ames: "Ain't She Sweet?"
Lou Rawls & Gail Martin: Old-time songs medley: "Barney Google", "Row, Row, Row", "Heart Of My Heart"

In separate bits, Albert Brooks plays a bad ventriloquist and a hapless animal trainer.
