  • Just who is ahead of the other? They both seem to think two steps ahead of each other!

This episode wasn't as exciting as the first two, but still good. L is supreme in his reasoning and deductive ability, whereas Light is showing his true nature as a genius master of manipulation. I like how the plot is progressing so far. People are already beginning to fear Kira. More importantly, the end of the episode posed an interesting concept. What will Light's decision be regarding the Shinigami's eyes deal?

I don't think I would sacrifice half of my lifespan for anything, but I suppose it would depend on the offer and my desires. I suppose I'd rather live a shorter time, but live that time happy and having fun, rather than living a longer time in mediocrity. However, for Light, given what he is trying to accomplish, I suppose the offer would be very tempting!
  • Light gets investigated and followed by a person on the task force Light learns about the shinigami eyes. L suspects that Kira is a student and can control when a his victims die.

At the beginning of the episode we get to see what L thinks of Kira. L concludes that Kira must be a student because of the time that Kira seems to kill criminals. Because Light's father is part of the police force and investigating Kira, Light can easily go to his files and get information on what the L and the other investigators of Kira already know about him. That wasn't a big surprise for me because Light is clever however L then figures out what Kira is doing and so he investigates anyone that has any contact with people on the task force. This was also not a big surprise. L has solved many difficult cases in the past. Light gets a deal from Ryuk and also gets followed. It was a good episode overall.
  • Does Light dare take Ryuk up on his offer?

Wow, this keeps getting better and better! I LOVE DEATH NOTE!!!!! Ahem. Light is going on a killing spree and murders like everyone that gets on the news for doing something negative. And people are starting to give him the nickname, The Kira. But now the police are getting involved, and L is after him. The police think The Kira is a student, so Light has to come up with stuff to throw them off track. Luckily, his father is part of the investigation, so he hacks into his computer and sees everything they know. So he begins to form this plan in which he think the police force will turn against L and vice versa. Then Ryuk tells him about the Shinigami's Eyes. He tells Light about the true purposes and the Shinigami, and that if Light is willing to trade half of his life, Ryuk will give him the ability to see a human's name and how much time they have left to live. Light considers this, as it would make the Death Note much easier to use. But on the other hand, he would lose half of his remaining life span.
  • The chase heats up; each party must now follow their opening moves with something more spectacular.

Now that Light knows he has a rival, human nature compels him to test out his opponent. This is when the battle started in the previous episode begins to take a real shape; the high-stakes battle between two geniuses.

Light, remaining in the bounds of his character, is not phased by Ryuk's announcement that the boy is being followed by someone other than the Shinigami. This only starts the first plot that is seen in the series, one of many to come. Each of these plots is successively more intricate than the last, but this relatively simple one is always the hook, line, and sinker that viewers get caught on.

And we can't forget the eye deal. With the Shinigami eyes, Light might be given an advantage over L. Whether or not he takes the deal determines what his real motives are: the betterment of society or the dictatorship of a frightened people.
  • Ryuk tells Light about an amazing deal, and L and the police get a bit closer to the truth. Not the most eventful episode ever, but still good.

After examining the victims' times of death, the task force (or L, rather) has determined that Kira is possibly a student. Light finds out about this using his dad's computer, and immediately takes action to attempt to prove them wrong. Meanwhile, Ryuk tells Light that there is someone following him. Ryuk doesn't care one way or the other about what happens to Light, but the fact that Light's being followed makes HIM feel like he's being tailed too. Light needs to come up with a way to get rid of his stalker.

Ryuk takes the opportunity to mention the shinigami eyes deal. For half his remaining lifespan, Light will obtain the "shinigami eyes," and be able to see the name and lifespan of everyone he sees.

Will he do it? This episode wasn't as action packed as the first two, but it's still full of information and we learn a lot, mostly thanks to Ryuk who finally starts TALKING a bit. And the way I see it, Death Note is the sort of show where if it seems like nothing's happening, it's only building up the tension for something really big.
  • It sadly didn't hit me like last week's episode.

After the last two episodes, I was really on high for this episode. Even though I read what would come next, I was really excitied. It just didn't hit me like the last two episodes.

Then again, when you compare this episode to those two, you understand why it didn't seem as good as that. But I'm not saying this episode sucked, it was very interesting.

L starts further investigating and Light is now being tracked by an FBI agent which is interesting. Then Ryuk offers him the Shinigami eyes in order to discover who is tailing him and we are left on the fact that Light might take the deal.

Overall, the voice acting and animation was good as the previous two episodes. Next week's episode should be better.
  • Ryuk offers Light a deal....

Awesome episode, but what can you expect from an awesome anime like Death Note! The search continues for L and Light to try and discover the other person. We find out Light's dad is a policeman. They assume the culprit is a student, but they have doubts after Light kills someone every hour. Ryuk tells Light that someone is following him, and Ryuk says that with his eyes, he can see when every human will die. And when a shinigami shortens the life span of a human, they get the same amount of life span as they took away from the human. Pretty interesting. Ryuk says he can give Light his eyes for a price. Why would he want his eyes you may ask? It's because Ryuk's eyes can tell a person's name just by looking at them, and Light could use that power to kill the person following him. But the deal involves shortening Light's life span. What will Light do?! Great episode.
  • This episode shows how awsome this show is!

The episode starts off as the police force are presenting there evidense that L told them to find out. They think that the Kira maybe a student since most of the killing comes from week days between 4:00 PM and 2:00 AM. It is then found out the head of the police force is Light's dad and because of that he is able to use his dad's systom to find criminal files. He then states that if he writes "heart attack" as the cause he can right the time as the detail so he can get the supison off a student as the Kira. L figures out that the Kira can kill some one with only a name and face, can choose the time of death, and that he has police files by killing some criminals only know to the police. This plan by Light is to get the police against L and vise versa. At the end, Ryuk tells Light there is some one following him. He also says if he trades half of his remaing life, Light can get shinngami eyes so he can know the name of the person just by looking at them. The episode ends as Ryuk as Light what his choice is.
  • Ryuk offers Light a deal!

The NPA meet to discuss the Kira case, L connecting the time of death to all the victims, decides that Kira is more likely to be a high school student and also says that Kira is trying to be a god because he only kills criminal. At this point I thought it was impossible for L, even though he is a brilliant detective to come to this conclusion. It didn't make sense; then again the whole series didn't make sense! Light uses his father, who is also the police chef and finds out about L's suspicions; therefore he changes the time of death of the next deaths. Ryuk tells Light that someone is following him and he gives him an offer. The offer states that a human can have the shinigami eyes; which allows him to see the name and the lifespan of the human, in exchange for half of the human's lifespan. The episode ends before Light made his decision. This deal surprised me and was the best part of this episode, I also liked how L came to the conclusion that Kira is a student, It was brilliant.
  • Light finds out someone is following him, and Ryuk offers to make a trade to fix the problem. So what is the trade?

The NPA meet to discuss the Kira case, and, using the times all the victims have died, L decides it is highly likely that Kira is a student. He also manages to determine that Kira must be trying to become a god since he's only killed criminals. I personally thought that his discovering that bit already was a little farfetched, although I guess the only reason someone would kill a bunch of criminals would be to get rid of all evil. Then...become a god...I guess. (I think Light is crazy for reaching the same conclusion himself, but whatever.)

Light uses his father's (the police chief) computer and discovers what they're suspecting, so he starts manipulating the criminals' times of death as well. Later, Ryuk gives Light a little hint: there's someone who's been following him. Being just a neutral bystander, he doesn't tell Light the man's name, but instead offers they make a trade: Ryuk will give Light the ability of his shinigami eyes--which is seeing the name and lifespan of everyone he meets--in exchange for half his remaining lifespan. The episode ends without Light having made a decision, but it seems to me like something he'd be tempted to do because of the power trip he's been having lately. We'll see, I guess.
  • A costly trade...

This episode delves deeper into the dark world of Death Note, revealing Light's intimate connection with the police and its significance.

Some rather odd quirks about Shinigami and the Death Note are brought forward, illuminating Ryuk’s proposition for Light, who is a little tense because he fears that L is getting too close, too soon.

Light wants to remove someone from the equation, and is puzzled as to how, enter Ryuk, and his tempting offer of the acquisition of Shinigami eyes, a fortuitous prize capable of analyzing people closely just by looking at them. As enticing as the offer is, the price is equally heavy, and perhaps a pricey mistake for Light to make.
  • The eyes of a Shinigami.................

This episode is about Light being followed, and the deal that Ryuk extends to Light......

The episode begins with the police force evaluating the Kira case. After the evaluation, it is discovered that Light's father is police chief. Light uses his files to see what the police are doing. Light tests the death note, to see what it I agent to shadow Light. When Ryuk tells him of this, he also offers Light a deal to give him his shinigami eyes, allowing him to see people's names and when they will die, but the cost is that the users current life span would be cut in half. Will Light accept the deal?

Good episode, which reveals even more about the death note. The battle between minds truely begins in this episode.....

Overall, another great episode, and an even better one is to follow....
