So i recently just finished this anime and ive got to say it was great i really liked it and it was interesting but its not one of my favorites and i have many reasons why i like and dislke the show and i would like to hear other peoples views

    Pros:

    Very original story

Original Characters: mostly meaning that the main character was the antagonist

Loved the back and forth between Kira and L

Music was great fitting in parts of the show

The ending was what he deserved

    Cons:

In my opinion (not all the episodes) it gets boring after episode 26 where L dies now for such a short series to have like almost 30 percent of the show not interesting me thats a bad tihng

Kira/Light is a never ending super villian you dont ever feel bad for him, he doesn't show any regret or apologetic feelings for what he does he uses people and kills people cuz he thinks he's god and for a main character he was not likable and a good show needs to have a main character u have to side with, (what im trying to say is its never ending demented behavior)

Not enough comic relief it seems to me with a serious show like this u need a little lightness from time to time and i didnt see much of that early on in the show but it started to get some funny parts halfway through the series

to make it more original it shouldve stopped at L even though i said he got what he deserves but with a show this original taht ive seen then it seems cliche that he gets caught the creator shouldve just let him win in my opinion or shouldve had better episodes after 26

I know it seems like im bashing the show but im not its just easier for me to explain the reasons what i dont like rather than wat i do id like to hear ur thoughts i do like this show i give it like an 8.9-9 outta 10

Nice review, I agree with you about some things, namely that the show was at it's best up until L dies, it kind of wears down after that point. For example the audience is forced to make more leaps of faith especially with the way light is caught, Near is an especially unlikable character, and as you said it was boring in parts. How likeable Light is as a character must really depend on your personality, as for me, I sided with him the entire way through.

And yeah, you're right the comic relief largely revolved around matsuda and misa but it was pretty weak. However, for a show of this genre and caliber too much comic relief would have discredited its message and catered too much to people who want all genres in one show so ultimately I think they had the right amount of comic relief to maintain the shows seriousness.

Lastly, if this is not one of your favorites, do you have any recommendations? Because I have yet to find an anime, or any tv show for that matter that tops death note.

I like Death Note a lot, especially how it maintains an aura of suspense in each episode, as well as fast pacing, humor to balance the tension and the aforementioned "back and forth between L and Kira". I would go as far to say it's my favourite anime show, but that doesn't mean it is perfect. I didn't like the Yotsuba group storyline very much, mainly because Misa, my least favourite character of the show, is given a more prominent role, and I didn't very much like "the good Light", if you know what I mean.

Overall, it's a very good show, maybe even one of my top 20, but it has it's flaws in the middle. But the first few and last few episodes make it very worth watching.

Cowboy Bebop is amazing, in every single way.
