  • THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!!

    10
Oh my gosh, that was so awesome! It's gotta be the best I've seen yet! Season 2 is getting better than Season 1!!!!

That episodes was wonderful, it was just like 24 at it's best, the action, the deduction, the events, it was all well played and plotted!!!! It's so cool! I haven't seen a show like tis in ages!

It's a heart-pounding race between Kira and L. But old allies come and join. They contributed a lot in the capturing and the marvelous chase!

It was the best yet. I'm sorry, I can't stop complimenting it. It's just so good. It's my favorite episode ever since the previous one! I love it!!!!moreless
  • One of the greatest Death Note episodes I have ever watched so far, my heart pumping, so revealing, and very exciting.

    10
I am absolutely glad I watch this series, because Death Note never dissapoints, but this time, it was much more impressive then I have ever seen. With all the action going on, and how tense everything becomes, and how well planned and thought out, as well as prepared everything was, plus everything went according to their plan, and they even found the man they were looking for. Higuchi (or however his name is spelled) is proven to be a serious nut case and a complete idiot or fall into L's trap...though it is L we are talking about here. He desperately wants to kill Matsuda in order to keep his secret of being "kira" and risks everything, he even makes a deal with Rem for the shinigami eyes. This episode as I already mentioned was so exciting, all the events leading up to the third kira's capture was making my heart race, and when they finally caught him, a sigh of relief. Now that he is caught, L can now get his hands on the death note...moreless
  • Gah, I knew they were going to end it there --- knew it!

    9.5
This was an ecstatic episode to me. The police drama and the persecution were arranged in such a believable manner, that I got the feeling I was watching a live-action film. Higuchi's angry faces and deranged eyes made him look like the devil unleashed on the road.

I shivered when L gave his completely accurate analysis of the Kiras' power when he said, "Shinigami."

The episode built anticipation to set up a reaction once L came at the verge of discovering Kira's murdering method. This expectancy will carry on for next episode with L, finally, finding the Death Note. Just as I've started to care for Light and L combining their wits, this arc is coming to a close.moreless
  • L corners Higuchi, and is one step closer to solving the Kira case.

    10
I'll admit it- I doubted them for a minute. After Light relinquished his Death Note, and L lost track of the case, I thought the series was going to be totally destroyed. Then I saw this episode.

I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish! I had no idea what would happen next, or where the story would go from there. Was L finally going to figure out the existence of the Death Note? Was Light really going to reclaim the title of Kira? And would the secret of how L stays in shape finally be revealed!?

Okay, that last one was a joke, but I know you all wanna know! If I had to summarize this episode, I'd say it was a masterpiece that deserved to go down in history as one of Death Note's key turnarounds.moreless
  • The Most Incredible Event That I Have Ever Witnessed

    10
The episode was perfect. The timing between all these event colliding together amazed me. Higuchi tried all he could to get himself out of trouble, but his wit was and will never be a match for L and and the fate of life that it out for someone it wants. The ending of this episode was the greatest thing I have ever witnessed. The ending was so originl, how things messed up, but it was all part of a plan that was never planned. Aizowa was incredible at the ending, getting the police to come. bsoulute genious. The Story was top, 10/10. The Sound and music, perfect! 10/10 Everything was amazing. Even anime fans would fall in love with this episode. It is definetly my top 3 Death Note episodes.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • Altered Scene: Higuchi's Call

Before entering Yoshida Productions, the manga has Higuchi try to call Misa a second time, only to receive her voice mail once more.

    • Altered Scene: The Guard

Before Higuchi enters the Yotsuba Security Room, the manga has him request permission from the building's guard first. The guard allows him access, but is confused as to why he would request such a thing in the first place.

    • Omitted Scene: Aizawa and Ide

The anime cut out any parts from the manga that had either of these two talk.

Once L and Light discover who was behind the police car barrier, the manga cuts to a short scene with Aizawa and Ide--the two policemen who decided against working with L in the Task Force. Aizawa thanks Ide for allowing him to lead all the men he recruited to secretly continue working on the Kira Case. However, Ide believes that he should be the one thanking Aizawa: for someone who learned so much about Kira through the Task Force, it was quite the feat for him to trust the other policemen and agree in leading them in the first place.

The two continue, saying how excited they were when they saw the supposedly dead Matsuda on Sakura TV and how much more excited they became when L sent them the order to stay away from a certain driver in a speeding Porsche, who L has concluded to be Kira. Aizawa even admits to shedding a tear upon hearing the order and ends the scene, saying how regardless of what happens next, they can be proud that they have been pursuing Kira all this time.

Later, After Watari shoots Higuchi's car tire, the manga has Aizawa radio the other police cars, ordering them to stand down until they receive L's orders, as this is as far as they can move on their own.

    • Altered Scene: Higuchi's Monologue

Upon finally being cornered by both L and the police, Higuchi decides to take himself hostage. As he does this in the manga, he has one final inner monologue, wondering why he is even doing such a thing. He thinks to himself that his life is over as he begins to squeeze the trigger, only to be interrupted by Watari's rifle.

    • Look Closely: The police officer who pulls over Higuchi is named Yukita Shiraba. "Shiraba" is actually a play on the word "shirabai," meaning "motorcycle policeman."

    • Look Closely: The combination to the door on Yoshida productions is 4-4-5.

  • QUOTES (12)

    • Light: It's over...
      L: Yes... it's over.

    • Watari: (rifle aimed at Higuchi) Stop right there...

    • Higuchi: (thinking) Just like I thought. It was a trap! Police cars with tinted windows?! So all that stuff about the cops not going after Kira was a lie! They've been preparing for this..!
Watari: What's happening? I thought we told the police not to get involved with the arrest.
Light: The only one who would do this is--
L: Yes, you must be right...
(ex-Task Force member Aizawa and Ide are shown patiently waiting with the other police cars)

    • L: Watari, are you ready?
      Watari: (holding a rifle) Yes.
L: (handing a gun to Light) Light, I think you should hold on to this for self defense. This is Kira we're after.
Light: No thanks. Firearms aren't allowed in Japan.
L: Y'know, I'm sure your father would say the exact same thing.

    • Light: I didn't realize you could pilot a helicopter. That's incredible!
L: Well, you could figure it out with intuition...

    • (as the plans are finalized to capture Higuchi)
L: So then, Light, what say we go and join the fun as well?

    • Mogi: That motorcycle cop just rear-ended that truck! He's dead!
      Light: He's dead?! By accident?!
      L: This is very bad...

    • L: Everyone! It's too dangerous to allow further action by Higuchi! Let's bring him in! I believe he has the same powers as the second Kira; he is able to kill just by looking at someone's face! Please keep this in mind when you move in to arrest him!

    • (monitoring Higuchi)
Light: He's arrived at Yoshida Productions.
L: The show is about to begin...

    • Wedy: (handing a gun to Soichiro) Aiber doesn't like guns so I'm the only one carrying one.
Soichiro: I'm no longer a police officer. I could never forgive myself if I held one. You aren't supposed to have one in Japan either.
Wedy: Stubborn as always, aren't you?

    • Higuchi: In that case, I'll settle for a short life… Rem, let's make the deal.

    • L: Now, how do you kill… show me!
