  • This Matsuda-centric episode became very thrilling and a wacky, rollercoaster ride.

Matsuda, you clown! I like the way he tried to do his best but he should have known better to be honest. I love how L gets the blue aura, Light gets the red aura and Matsuda gets gold. And now that the meeting room is bugged, I'm looking forward to the next episode.

But the lack of evil Light is what I'm missing at the moment. And it's not just Light's character that's suffering, L isn't half as interesting with evil Light on vacation. One genius against another genius is fascinating. Two geniuses against people so incompetent is not so interesting.

The writers of the last few episodes don't seem like the same ones who portrayed the brilliant bus scenario. I was in awe of the amount of imagination and detail they had gone through to make that scene work so beautifully. That kind of thought made the first fifteen episodes enthralling. This arc shows none of that. I'm hoping the magic comes back in future episodes.
  • Definitely one of Matsuda's... defining moments.

This episode was action-packed in an ordinary person type way. The feats accomplished were more believable as they were more realistic, brining the series down a notch in terms of cutting-edge sci-fi, but increasing its credibility with the fans. Granted, the tasks Matsuda must go through to cover up his goof are a bit unlikely, but nevertheless, who hasn't wanted to do something of the sort at least once in their life?

The episode gripped reality firmly and strove to make the audience understand that each of the characters has their own strengths and weaknesses, despite their blatant intellect. This is reminded everyone that it's not necessarily book smarts that will get one by in life.

I give this episode an 8.7/10 on a Death Note scale.
  • Matsuda tries to prove that he is not "dead weight", but ends up getting into more trouble, which causes the task force's kira case to become difficult.

Not the best Death Note episode, but it was definetly a good one. Overall, it was a good episode. Matsuda, wanting to feel useful, sneaks into the Yotsuba's building, listening in on their meeting. Though he did find some useful information, it was all messed up when he was caught. The people of Yotsuba, who feared he overheard something, feels that they have no choice to kill him. Matsuda claims he was merely trying to advertise Misa Amane to be their spokesperson, seeing that he is her current manager. Though he was convincing, they were still planning to kill him anyway. I felt sorry for poor Matsuda who was only trying to help, but made "L's" job more difficult, and trying to find a way to save him. I thought it was pretty good that L came up with the idea for Misa to distract them, and to have Matsuda fake his death.
  • this episode really does feel like a Mission: Impossible episode

Wow, this episode really does feel like a Mission: Impossible episode. I was particularly amused with their attempt to make it look as if an accident has happened because that's the kind of things that Mission: Impossible team normally do. So far I've actually been enjoying this Yotsuba arc quite a bit, which is surprising since I've heard many people think that this arc is rather boring. At any rate, this should have been called Matsuda's Exciting Adventure since the bulk of the story focuses on the hapless and slightly idiotic detective. I suppose they need to develop him due to what happen in future episodes but it really doesn't help that they portray him as a bumbling fool in this episode. Having said that, it's kind of worth it just to see L being frustrated with the guy. I never thought I’d see L running out of patience before.
  • Matsuda... *snorts* (lmfao...)

I’m still cracking up over this episode… It was FUNNY! Between Misa, L, and Matsuda, (what a card), I was almost unable to contain myself… This was likely due to the fact that this is so unlike the show I know so far… The task force and L start talking about the very real possibility of Matsuda getting killed by Kira and they make it completely hysterical!

Anyway, Matsuda has finally caught on to the fact that he’s done very little for the taskforce in comparison to the others. He quickly decides to do something about it and sneaks into the Yatsuba building on the day he thinks Kira is active. Needless to say, because he’s Matsuda, he totally botches the operation and becomes desperate for L to save him…
  • Matsuda monotony, but still enlightening!!!

Well, there wasn't really any distinctiveness in this episode aside from the human incarnate Ryuuzaki disclosing that he was the culprit behind detective Eral Coil and two other influential detectives. Matsuda essentially if you remember from episode 18 got a major reprimand from his colleagues and thoughtfully, but idiotically tries to spy on Yutsugu corporations activities and plans and manages to get caught. It gets better you say? after they interrogate him he tells them that he is Mika's(the pop/movie star/light's admirer) manager and that he was trying to 'promote' her. In light of this the corporation, obviously being cautious almost decides to kill him until Ryuuzaki decides to intervene and has Mika go to the corporation building thinking she was going to find employment from them. After this for some reason the corporation echelon decides to accompany Mika and her 'manager' to a private party wherein all the executives including the chairman himself become inebriated. Then, Matsuda goes into the bathroom consults with Ryuuzaki who instructs him to committ suicide, am I dreaming? anyways, he(Matsuda) falls off the apartment railing onto a mattress then Light and company en tow laughably cover up Matsuda's death, thus ending the episode.
