This episode literally had me white-knuckled the whole time. I was fighting temptation to skip to the end and see what happened. I was amazed beyond belief with this episode.

Light spent most of the episode gaining Naomi's trust. He acted very well. Light knew she was still grieving for Raye and when he gave her a chance for revenge by joining the investigation, he pretty much had her in his pocket. But it was Ryuk's maniacal laughter that made it for me. He must be having the time of his life following Light.

The snow falling just as her ID was passed over - genius. Aizawa opened his umbrella as he walked past them and therefore unable to realise that Light and Naomi are just right in front of him. That was such luck on Light's part. And had the timing been off by a few seconds he might have caught Light admitting he's Kira. I noticed myself hoping he'd make it past this obstacle.

I seriously got chills down my spine when Light looked Naomi in the eyes and said "because I'm Kira"... I believed that line. It could have been melodramatic, but it wasn't. It was perfect. It captured that terrible truth perfectly. The music also gave me chills. I think her silence, followed by the walk to the gallows was tragic. That combined with that evil, smug look on Light's face... It was so powerful.

I wonder if it will come to L's attention that Naomi had important information concerning the Kira case and was last seen with Light? I guess most wouldn't be thinking about it through means other than a heart attack, but perhaps L would grab on to it.
  • I was literally yelling at the computer screen when I was watching this.

Another completely awesome episode. When Naomi gave Light her name I thought it was over for her, and I was cursing her for being such an idiot (despite the fact that given her circumstances, I would have probably done the same thing, but my stupidity isn't the point at the moment). When Light wrote her name in the Death Note and it had no effect, and Light figures out it was an alias, I was almost punching the air, because I express my excitement like that. When they were nearly back at task force headquarters and the clock was ticking for Light, this was the point I was yelling at the screen. I was like 'Come on Naomi!!!!! Just a little further and it's all over for him!!!!!!!' Luckily my parents were out, but the neighbours probably thought I was on crack. Anyhow, when Light finally killed her I was moaning at her for being such a moron and falling for his little 'I work with the task force and you can join, just give me your name' thing. And seriously, this time I actually wouldn't do the same thing in that situation. But yeah, it was a real nail-biter of an episode ^^
  • Geez, Light! You'd kill your own mother if she tried to stand in your way!

Light Yagami has to be one of the most ruthless dictators ever! He's right up there with Adolf (TV.com forbids his last name) and Attila the Hun! Now he's after this chick named Naomi Misora, which is her real name, but I don't remember her alias. Anywayz, Naomi is like the female version of L. Her deductive skills are incredible. She knows that Kira is responsible for killing her fiancee, Raye. Now she just has to find out who Kira is. In the last episode, she met up with Light. She told him her alias, and that she plands on catching Kira. Light puts on his innocent act that makes me want to barf, and tries to convince Naomi that he will help her. He knows that she did not give him her real name, because it didn't work in the Death Note and Ryuk keeps laughing whenever Light or Naomi says the alias. Naomi decides it would be best to go and see L alone, and asks Light to leave her. Well, he can't do that, because Naomi has some info regarding Kira. *sigh* In the end, he uses his boyish charm to convince her that he is not Kira, which he is, and that he is working undercover for L. So Naomi tells Light her real name, he writes it in the Death Note, reveals that he is Kira, and Naomi goes and hangs herself and Kight hides her body. URGH! People should know by now not to trust anyone but L and Matsuda!!!!!
  • Light Kills a girl that is a threat to him.

There was a lot of suspense for Light in this episode because he had barely enough time to kill a girl who could cause him to be known as Kira. Obviously Ryuk was right next to him and offered the Shinigami deal. Light was clever and I really didn't think that he could get the girl's name. If he played his cards right he could get her name and not risk the fact that she could give a little hint making him Kira. That was a smart move for Light. In general, this episode was good. It is good because it had some details into how Light thinks in situations where he could have a chance of being accused of being Kira.

I haven't gotten around to reviewing this episode recently so know should be the time to do so.

Don't get me wrong by the review score. This was another great episode that really pushed Light to the edge, which I always enjoy when I get to watch him squirm. The reason I score this episode low is because it's sad to me.

I won't go into the details about the episode, but it had a sad ending that always gets me wheter it is the book or anime verison.

There was a couple of good moments and a good joke through in there as well. Overall, this episode didn't really do much for me and makes me relive the worst part of the series in my view.

that was just plain genius. it was another battle of genius vs genius, exactly why i watch this show. i love all the intellectual puzzles and games light and l deploy. Naomi is a genius, she almost fools light, but in the end, her downfall was giving out her real name. i would have been suspicious the moment light tried to stop me from going to the task force. What's the use of joining the investigation team, she should hunt down kira herself. And since she said she worked for l i wonder if maybe they had a relationship. that would make a lot of things more interesting in the upcoming episodes.
  • Its because...I'm Kira.

Amazing episode! Raye Penbar's fiancee continues to talk to Light about her theory. Light must find a way to kill her before she tells the Task Force about her knowledge. He gets her name and writes it on the sheet of the Death Note he has with him, but it doesn't work. Ryuk starts to laugh as Light is baffled. Light realizes she must have given him a fake name. So now Light is in a bind, because she wants to go back to the Task Force alone and he has no way of finding her name. He tries to talk to her, but gets all flustered. He turns off his cell phone and starts a conversation with her. He says he is apart of the Task Force and would love for her to join. She says he has previously worked with L and Light reminds her of him. She was all excited when Light told her he would recommend her, but he would need identification. She tells him about her using a fake name and gives him her Japanese Drivers License and he finishes what he started. After he writes down her name in the Death Note, he stares at his watch. She asks why he is staring, and as soon as it reaches the point he determined in the Death Note, he tells her he is Kira. She looked stunned and then her eyes looked as if she were dead. Light offers her his cell phone to speak with his father, but she declines, saying she has nothing to say to him anymore and slowly walks away saying she has something to take care of. They then show her walking up a stairwell to hang herself. Light's plan has succeeded once again! Amazing!
  • Survival of the fittest mind. That's all this entire series is.

This episode is simply stellar in its ability to convey the emotions and thought processed Light goes through as situations arise. As this was the first time we've seen him in a crisis situation, his almost out of character tendencies can be over looked.

Many seemingly innocent, said in passing type statements were spoken in this episode that go over looked or under appreciated by the average fan. One must pay attention to each and every detail in order to arrive at the correct conclusions. This episode, while taking place in the course of less than a day, did a lot of character developing.

While most of the other episodes of Death Note is about out-thinking one's opponent, this one is about luck. Had Light not had such good luck here, the series wouldn't have progressed as it will. 9.5/10 on a Death Note scale.
  • Kira is pure EVIL

I am slightly disapointed by this episode as i washoping she would be bale to last as a character much longer than she just has and so im a bit let down as i just said Kira has another enemy to face... but the way it was done was very clever once again and well thought up.. but now im wondering what can happen next with the woman out the way how will more clues arise and i suppose that is why i watch this series because no matter what you will always be left wanting to know what happens in the next installment but i am totally with L this show is a bit weird and freaks me out a little xD so Kira better lose!!!!!!!!!!!!!! his world stinks
  • If Light hasn't joined the Dark Side already, he certainly has now.

Light talks more with Penbar's fiance and attempts to do her in; unfortunately for him, nothing happens. Ryuk starts laughing all weird and Light finally realizes she gave him an alias. Yes! Light's been duped again! This small victory for me didn't last long, though. Soon he starts showering her with compliments about her deduction abilities, blah blah blah, and asks her to join the investigation team. Of course she would accept: she's out for sweet revenge! He oh-so-cleverly says that in order to join the investigation she'd have to have recommendations, etc. etc., as well as a small ID check. So all of a sudden she's all "well, actually I gave you a fake name before." And he's like "Oh, that's fine, that's just fine." Then he has her kill herself. Sad thing, that.

The frustrating thing is Aizawa walks by JUST as she's showing him her ID. I keep hoping that maybe he'll recall he saw them together, and when she is inevitably found dead something will connect.

At the end we finally learn her real name: Naomi Misora. This episode is very significant because it shows that Light isn't just killing criminals anymore, he's killing anyone who threatens him, and right out in the open. It would appear that perhaps he is not the perfect god he thinks he is.
  • No longer just killing for justice are we Light?

This episode really was great, as it presented to us another side of Light. The he calculatedly worked out how to kill Penbar's fiance... just showed how willing he was to complete his goal and become the ultimate God. I very much enjoyed this episode because it seemed as if we had met a new charachter to be thrown into the mix, but instead of that we get a new insight into the ways of Light's mind, his desire to succeed, and thr dark depths to which he will stretch to win. All in all this is certainly one of the best episodes of the season!
  • An intense episode.

This episode was one of the most intense ever. Throughout the episode you don't know what is going to happen. As Light is trying to pry the name out of Penbar's fiance you are at the edge of your seat. You are always saying "Gah, don't tell him", which is what makes this series so unique. You find yourself against the protaganist, who is also the antagonist in a way. Everything is so confusing and engaging. The ways Light comes up to try to get her name are all so mind boggling. This episode will make you think and keep your attention throughout.
  • Genius is closest to madness...

Maki Shoko, Ray Penbar’s fiancée, has only begun to become a problem for Light, as he soon realizes that this is not her actual name.

Light, as close to panic as even he can come, is at standstill as to how to dispose of this woman, who knows far too much about Kira, and is quickly closing in on L with this vital and the severe information.

The strings are unraveling faster then Light can mend them in this episode as he struggles to solve this crisis unfolding before his eyes, all he needs is her name…

Light is embracing an even darker role now… you’ll be prickling with excitement as this one ends.
  • Light is slowly crossing the line of no return....

I saw this episode and was on the edge of my seat for every minute of it. I wondered at every point was Misora going to get found out or not. I loved how Light went through his tactical measures of gaining her trust, and then with merciless cruelty, has her commit suicide. The snow, Light telling her he's Kira, and the scene of her going up the imaginary gallows was entirely epic.

This episode, along with the one where Light killed Ray Penbar were both powerful, and showed how much Light has changed since episode one. He's going totally psychopathic, and Ruyk is like the demon that's letting him continue further down the road of evil...
  • Do I dare say Light is becoming evil?...

This episode is about Light trying to find Ray Penbar's girlfriends name without her being suspicious of him being Kira.....

The episode begins with Light walking behind her, ploting on how to get her name. First he tries a few tactics, but they fail, and just when it seems like Light is in trouble, he makes up a story rather quickly. He claims he is a part of L's team, and asks if she wants to join, but in order for her to join, he says he needs her ID. She gives him the ID, and ironically, one of the police force members on the Kira case walks by, just as Light is writing her name into the death note.... It is assumed that he caused her to commit suicide using the death note.....

This was yet another brilliant episode with a great plot. This episode also seems to show that Light is slowly becoming more and more evil. So overall, great episode, it had me on the edge of my seat.....
