  • Severely Diminished from the last 4 episodes.

The whole killing Raye Penbur thing was stupid and too predictable. Light would have been easily recognizable and that Naoko woman is an idiot. This episode was like rat poison thinning my blood.
  • You don't get an anti-protagonist as cunning as Light.

I commend Light for his strategy in this episode. Tricking Raye into using a page from the Death Note to kill the FBI agents was a cunning plan. While I do think that Light's actions were cruel, they were necessary for him to feel at ease. After all, he's just getting rid of those who stand in his way.

Things are getting interesting now Raye's fiancée is taking the case personally. She is working with her detective skills to trace Kira's whereabouts, unknown to Light. She seems very capable and her mind seems to be sharper than Raye's was. But from looking at preview it seems that Light has some sort of plan for her already.

And the cliffhanger is the moment we've been waiting for. It looks like L is going to reveal himself in the next episode. I think he is ready to make his move against Kira, but he has no idea who Kira is. Whereas Light knows that L is with the police and his father, so he is currently one step ahead. I also believe he may be a bit smarter than L but I will reserve that judgement for now.moreless
  • Light kills the person the was following him. He also goes back to what he has done to check for any way that someone can accuse him of being Kira. L gets ready to show his face.moreless

This was a good episode. Light's cleverness is shown in this episode as it has been shown many times before. He kills the person that was following him and managed to kill others as well that were in the Kira case. I think it 12 people to be exact. Light also goes back through the steps that he has taken to see for any way of anyone to accuse him of being Kira. It is clearly not a surprise that he would do this because obviously Light doesn't want to be caught. L also prepares to show his face to the 5 other people that stayed on Kira's case. Overall, this episode was good.moreless
  • Light's just a bully! And he's going to give me diabetes.

So what? LIGHT IS A BULLY! I don't care if he writes my name in the Death Note! Know why? HE'S NOT REAL! Ahem. Light goes sneaking around and stalks his stalker, Raye Penber. He sneaks up on him and tells him that he is The Kira. He forces him on this train and demands the names of the FBI investigators, or his fiancee will be killed. Raye does as he is told, but Light kills him anyway, along with the rest of the FBI agents. At home, Mr. Yagami tells his family about the Kira investigation. Light's little sister is excited that her dad is the leader, but Light is "worried". In a sense. Now he has to battle his dad. He pretends to be horrified, and that if anything happens to him, Light will bring Kira to justice. BULL! OMG, Light's act was so sugary sweet that he's going to give me diabetes! I mean, how could you not suspect him of being The Kira? Meanwhile, Raye's fiancee is horrified over his death and has dedicated herself to finding The Kira and having him executed. Also, L contacts the task force and tells him that he is ready to reveal himself. But the episode cuts out before we can see what he looks like!moreless
  • Light makes his move against the FBI and L reveals himself

Once again, Light does an incredible job in what he does and that is killing people.

The episode opens up where the last one ended. This episode introduces the minor character Namoi who has been voiced nicely as well. Light uses Rayne to kill off the rest of the FBI investigators in Japan without Rayne finding out and then kills him in a clever fashion.

The second half of the episode deals with the police force handling the news and breaking down into a 5 man squad consisting of Light's dad and 4 other investigators. Once the numbers have died done to this small amount, L requests for these people to meet him in person in order to further investigate the Kira case. The episode ends just as we are about to meet L, what a cliff hanger!

Great music, flawless animation, a strong plot and good voice acting makes this a must see episode.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • One of the manga covers reveals the names of the twelve FBI agents are Knick Staek, Raye Penber, Haley Belle, Nikola Nasberg, Toors Denote, Bess Sekllet, Lian Zapack, Freddi Guntair, Ale Funderrem, Girela Sevenster, Frigde Copen, and Arire Weekwood.

  • QUOTES (14)

    • Light: Now I'm going to ask you something. If I have even the slightest suspicion that you are not being honest, your girlfriend is as good as dead. How many FBI agents are currently in Japan? Speak quietly into the transceiver and don't make it obvious.
Penber: I believe it's four teams, three agents per team, for a total of twelve.

    • Penber: (thinking) I know that voice. Why on earth can't I remember who it belongs to? Kira, who are you?

    • Penber's fiancee: (crying) He's dead, Raye's dead. No, he was murdered by Kira.

    • Light: Raye Pember wrote all of those names on pages taken from the Death Note. Ironic. Without even realizing it, he was actually signing a death warrant for all of his colleagues. As for Pember's boss, he died of a heart attack after sending all of his agents a file. And the other elven investigators, they all died of heart attacks after receiving the same file.

    • Light: I think it's very honorable of you, Dad. I'm proud to be able to call you my father. And if anything should ever happen to you, I'm going to find Kira, and make sure he gets executed.

    • (As L reads the final part of Kira's cryptic (and what was made out to be important) message, Light can be heard saying the message out loud)
Light: L, do you know that Gods of Death love apples?
      L: Damn you, Kira!

    • Ryuk: This place is crawling with humans. Are you gonna do it here?
Light: Let's just say you're about to see the results of all the research and experiments I've been doing over the last few days.
      Ryuk: Experiments?
Light: Yeah. I've been using known criminals who live in this part of town to test out different killing methods. I've learned a lot about the Death Note. For example, if I write a cause of death and the circumstances leading up to it, I can add a name afterwards, and it'll still happen.
Ryuk: Ooh! Even I didn't know that one!

    • Light: Mr. Raye Penber. Turn around and you're dead. I am Kira...that's right, don't turn around or put your hands in your pockets. I won't hesitate to kill you here.
Penber: (thinking) It couldn't be! His voice...I've heard it somewhere...

    • Chief Yagami: L, I just got off the phone with the director of the FBI. According to him, it seems that you arranged for the FBI to come to Japan and investigate everyone here associated with the task force.
      L: Yes, I did.
Chief Yagami: So how do you explain this? Are we now suspects in our own investigation?
L: I felt that it was necessary to uncover Kira's identity.
Chief Yagami: I cannot accept that! I find it unbelievable that you would spy on us, the very people working with you on this case!

    • (Only five now remain on the task force)
Chief Yagami: Five men, huh? Well, six, including myself. Still, I'm grateful to see that there are as many as five of you willing to risk your lives to face evil.
L: The fact that you've chosen to stay means that you have a strong sense of justice; I trust all of you.

    • Task Force Member 1: Look, L. All of us have agreed to put our lives at risk to bring Kira to justice, so I hope you understand what this means. We're really sticking our necks out here.
Task Force Member 2: But you never have to show your face, do you? You just give the orders. I don't see how you can expect us to work alongside you in those conditions.
      (There is a slight pause)
Chief Yagami: L, if all of us are going to work together on this investigation, and if you truly meant what you said about trusting the six of us, could you come here so we can all meet in person?
      (Another brief pause)
L: The thought had already crossed my mind. After all, I did say I trusted all of you.

    • Light: But, that man was a serial rapist who went free because the police couldn't prosecute him due to lack of evidence. He's a menace to society and deserved judgment.

    • L: If you have some way of knowing this, you'll definitely move in closer. Bring it on.

    • Raye Penber: (dying) Yagami.... Light?
      Light: Farewell, Raye Penber.
