Altered Scene: SPK Disguises Upon evacuating the SPK Building during the raid, the anime has member Rester disguised as another Riot Squad member. The manga, however, has him disguised as an arrested Kira worshiper handcuffed to the still "kidnapped" Mogi so as to make sure that he does not escape from them upon evacuating. Near reached the conclusion that Kira knows the faces of everyone in the SPK except Rester, which is why it was acceptable to have his disguise not conceal his face, while it was crucial for everyone else.
Filler Scene: Aizawa at Home Following the escape of the SPK from Demegawa and the rioters, a short scene of Aizawa while at home is shown. He sits quietly, mulling over the idea of Light Yagami actually being Kira, when his daughter enters the room. Apparently, she has been studying for her upcoming exams. Aizawa tells her not to push herself too hard, to which his daughter tells him the same thing.
Omitted Scene: Mogi, Mello and the SPK (part 2) With Task Force member Mogi still refusing to say a word to any of the SPK members, Near decides to contact Light once more to try and persuade any of the other members to suspect Light. Near even goes as far as telling the others that Mogi died of a heart attack, just to give incentive to people like Aizawa, who were hesitant about contacting him. Upon contacting Near, Aizawa is given instructions for a meeting point, where on of the SPK members will pick him up and drive him to SPK Headquarters. After being blindfolded so as to keep the SPK's new location a mystery, Aizawa finally meets Near face to face (Note that Aizawa only talks to Near via cell phone in the anime.) and provides him with any information asked of him. After some half-hearted goodbyes, Aizawa and Mogi are then dropped off at the airport where they will take a plane from New York back to Los Angeles, where the rest of the Task Force is.
Moved Scene: Aizawa and Mogi The scene of Aizawa and Mogi inspecting Misa and Light's apartment is moved to after Aizawa reports back to Light, telling him that he contacted Near.
Omitted Scene: Mello and Matt While the anime only has Mello make a quick appearance at the beginning of this episode, the manga has Mello work off of a tipoff from SPK member Hal, tailing Task Force members Aizawa and Mogi alongside his new comrade, Matt, in hopes of gaining more information leading to Kira's capture.
Moved Scene: Mikami All scenes (involving Teru Mikami) leading up to the death of multiple "disciples" on the show Kira's Kingdom are condensed and moved to directly precede that scene in the anime.
Mikami: Shinigami, you chose well. Now I can pass judgment on evil. (The final part of the questionnaire is shown, asking "What do you think Kira is?" to which Mikami simply answers "God")
Light: I wasn't wrong, Teru Mikami. He will become Kira's hand.
Aizawa: Mogi, you should return to headquarters. I'll stay on guard. Misa: Aww, Mochichi instead of Mochi? Aizawa: You don't trust me? Misa: That's not it. The hair isn't the way it used to be, so Mochichi doesn't look normal. Without it, Mochichi isn't cute. Aizawa: (after Mogi chuckles) Mogi! Mogi: Yes sir, I apologize! Aizawa: You stay here.
Light: Search to your heart's content, Aizawa. You won't find the notebook.
Near: Besides, I learned a critical piece of information. Chief Yagami and the suspect Kira are father and son. There can be no other conclusion. To say something like "I'll kill Kira then myself"… Therefore, the second L, and the person I suspect to be Kira is… Light Yagami.
Near: Seriously, they are a bunch of idiots. It's not surprising that there are people who support Kira. His followers believe, deep inside their hearts, that Kira will bring evil to justice. The people that are here right now are different. They're really worthless humans. As long as they are enjoying themselves, nothing else matters, they are greedy.
Light: Near, for now you should retreat. Near: What a convenient thing to say, Kira. Light: You're still saying things like that? Near: While other Anti-Kira groups exist, you only attacked me because I suspect you of being Kira. The timing is just too convenient.
Matsuda: I wonder how much money there was... Aizawa: Matsuda! Matsuda: Maybe ten million dollars... Ryuk: How many apples is that?
Demegawa: Go over there, towards where the money is coming out! Misa: (scolding Demegawa's actions after seeing him through her monitor) What are you doing, Deme-chan?! Money can't buy peace or love!
Light: (thinking) Money?! Matsuda: That much? Amazing! I wish I was there, too. Ide: Matsuda! Ryuk: Really, humans are interesting beings. You can buy apples with money, so I understand their feelings, but...
Misa: It finally came, this moment. With this I'll be completely safe and I can become a normal wife. This is what Light wished for me, the true happiness of a woman. Thank you, Light.
