Claim jumper Jennie attempts to jump the mining claim of Buck Hansen near Rhyolite, Nevada. Then Jennie's finishing school daughter, Linda arrives planning to surprise her allegedly "wealthy gold-mine-owning" mother. Disillusioned by her mother's rough occupation, Linda decides to return home, but meets and falls in love with a young mining engineer, John. Meanwhile, Buck is reported lost in Death Valley without food or water.
