Based on a true story that takes place in the late 1800's of a boy whose dog, Old Drum, is killed by a neighbor. The boy talks an attorney into a lawsuit against the neighbor and they win. The attorney's closing comments bring the courtroom to tears.
I saw this episode of Death Valley Days in 1964 when I was 14 years old and still remember it well today. It was a wonderful episode, of course based on a true story, in the late 1800's. The boy's dog, "Old Drum", is killed by a neighbor and he goes to town and talks an attorney into a lawsuit against the man who killed the dog. They win the lawsuit something that is almost unbelievable in the 1800s. The closing comments of Senator Vest have been published and can be found using an internet search of "Eulogy of the Dog". His words are wonderful and have been much enjoyed by many dog lovers. I would love to find a DVD or even a VCR tape of this show if anyone knows where to get it.
