Passions was a decade long soap opera created by James E. Reilly, the same man who pulled Days of our Lives out of a ratings slump in the 1990s. Centered around the inhabitants of Harmony, a small seaside town in Maine, Passions excels at creating romantic triangles on the show, and controversy in the fans off the show. The show is based around five core families: the Standish/Bennett clan, the Winthrop/Crane clan, the Lopez/Fitzgerald clan, and the Johnson/Russell clan. Every other character can be directly (and romantically) connected to someone in one of the other clans.

Passions premiered on July 5, 1999, and last aired on NBC on September 7, 2007, before being picked up to air on DirecTV starting September 17, 2007. DirecTV canceled the show at the beginning of 2008, and the final episode aired August 7, 2008.moreless

Postman Pat was based on a series of books by John Cunliffe, the program is about a rural postman who helps his friends in the village of Greendale, based supposedly in Cumbria, England. The first series of thirteen 15-minute episodes was produced by Woodland Animations and broadcast by the BBC in 1981. Ivor Wood, a vetaran of animations like The Magic Roundabout, was at the helm as producer. Ken Barrie sang the well known theme tune and provided the narration. The stories were very successful and have seen endless repeats over the years. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show in 1991, the old production crew was reunited for two one-off 25 minute specials, again shown by the BBC. Two more came in 1995, and these were followed by a second full series of 13 adventures. Then, after almost 10 years of absence from our screens, Postman Pat returned in 2004 for his third series. This consisted of 25 new episodes and several specials. The model animation was a far cry from the simple look of the early 80's, with brighter sets, much smoother puppet movements and characters voices lip-synched. Ken Barrie is still the voice of our favorite postman, but he is also joined by a cast of other talented voice artists, like Carole Boyd. For the final season in 2008, the series was titled Postman Pat: Special Delivery Service. The show aired on BBC2 from 1981-2002, CBBC from 1986-2002 and at CBeebies from 2003-2008. Since the start of the series, there have been four DJ's (Scotty K, Jonny Abrahams, DJ Stryker, and Tont Okungbowa). However, Tony Okungbowa has been around the longest, appearing during most of season 1 and 2, and regularly since season 6. What is a huge part of the show, as at the start of each programme, after delivering her opening monologue, Ellen dances with the audience, following on from this she does her signature dance across her coffee table. The Amazing Race 22: The Amazing Race 21: The Amazing Race 20: The Amazing Race 19: Commencing on September 25, 2011, the nineteenth season of The Amazing Race includes a pair of twin sisters, a retired professional football player and his wife, a pair of former winners of Survivor, professional snowboarders and the youngest person to sail around the world solo, racing with his father. The race will be visiting a multitude of new countries and with new twists and obstacles in their way, the nineteenth instalment of the programme promises to be exciting, commencing just twenty days after The Amazing Race celebrates its tenth anniversary. The Amazing Race 18: The eighteenth season of the race brings back former teams who have 'Unfinished Business'. The returning teams all have something to prove, as they begin their battle for redemption. The returning contestants include former NFL cheerleaders, Harlem Globetrotters, cowboys, a Gothic couple and The Amazing Race's only deaf contestant, racing with his mother, who are one of an unprecedented four parent/child teams. Commencing on February 20, 2011, the returning teams will travel the world for a second time, vying for revenge, redemption and a million dollars. Sisters LaKisha & Jennifer Hoffman became won redemption, by becoming the second ever all-female winners, following Nat & Kat's victory in the previous season. Congratulations to Kisha & Jen! The Amazing Race 17: The seventeenth installment of the race became notorious on YouTube before the season even began, with a watermelon ricocheting onto a contestant's face. The racers departed on September 26, 2010, with teams including a pageant queen and her father, a father/son team of Internet sensations, the first African-American gay team, home shopping television hosts, a pair of female doctors, beach volleyball partners, and a recently reunited birth-mother and daughter. The race visited two new countries, Ghana and Bangladesh, and introduced two new twists -- the Express Pass, which could be used to bypass a single task on a leg (used only up to the eighth leg), and the Double U-Turn, which involved two teams forcing two different teams to turn back and complete both Detours. In the end, the season, seemingly themed around woman power with several, several strong, formidable women competing, culminated in two all-female teams running the final leg, along with a young dating couple. The ending thrilled many fans when, after seventeen seasons, an all-female team finally won the race. Congratulations to Nat & Kat, winners of this season of the race! The Amazing Race 16: The sixteenth season of The Amazing Race commenced on February 14, 2010, stopping in places including Argentina, the Seychelles and Singapore. The teams include a pair of small-town cowboys, a notorious beauty queen well-known for her lack of intelligence, an MLB-winning coach and his daughter, two cops, two attorney mothers, and the race's first grandmother/granddaughter team. The race included the first-ever leg in which two Roadblocks were completed. Congratulations to Dan & Jordan, winners of this season of the race! The Amazing Race 15: The fifteenth season began on September 27, 2009. Teams for this season included a pair of Harlem Globetrotters, the first interracial married couple, Christian country singers, and a fan of the program who had Asperger's Syndrome. Teams faced many obstacles along the way, including stops at nearly a half dozen locations never before seen on the race, as well as the Switchback -- a new race mechanism that turned out to be a revisitation of an old Roadblock from The Amazing Race 6. Congratulations to Meghan & Cheyne, winners of this season of the race! The Amazing Race 14: The newest Amazing Race adventure has come and gone! The new season began on February 15, 2009, with the racers facing a challenging adventure with stops in Central Siberia and Beijing. The entire look and feel of the race was updated for the new edition and viewers were also given a more fast-paced and exciting race with, among other things, less time spent on airport drama. Teams this season include a pair of movie stuntmen, two self-described hillbillies and a mother and son team featuring the race's first ever deaf contestant. Overall, this season was well-regarded by fans, featuring a mixture of interesting and likable teams as well as some great dramatic moments. Some, however, lamented the lack of diversity of locations, as well as poor race planning that seemed to favor one particular team. Congratulations to Tammy & Victor, winners of this season of the race and the first Asian-American team ever to win! The Amazing Race 13: This season of The Amazing Race came to CBS on September 28, 2008 and ended on December 7. This season saw a wide-ranging adventure with visits to such diverse locales as Kazakhstan and Cambodia. Reaction to this season was once again mixed, as were ratings. Congratulations to Nick and Starr, winners of this season of the race. The Amazing Race 12: This adventure began on November 4, 2007 and ended in January 2008! CBS officially announced the return at the same time as the announcement of the cancellation of Viva Laughlin, giving viewers less than two weeks notice before the start of the new season. This season was lauded by both critics and viewers, becoming a new favorite for many. Congratulations to TK and Rachel, the winners of the twelfth season!

The Amazing Race 11: All Stars --- The first-ever All-Star edition for The Amazing Race has ended. This season featured eleven teams who raced on previous seasons of the program. As these teams raced around the world once more, they found themselves facing all-new challenges. This season had its share of surprises, but was met with mixed reviews by fans. Some were disappointed with the uneven structure of the race, as well as challenges that in many cases were considered poorly planned. Others, however, were entertained both by seeing the development of new dynamics when it came to past racers and the flaring of rivalry and drama between teams. Congratulations to Eric and Danielle, winners of The Amazing Race: All-Stars. The Amazing Race 10: The Amazing Race 9: The Amazing Race 8: Family Edition The Amazing Race 7: The Amazing Race 6: The Amazing Race 5: The Amazing Race 4: The Amazing Race 3: The Amazing Race 2: The Amazing Race 1: General format:

Without a Trace is a fast-paced procedural drama about the Missing Persons Squad of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The sole responsibility of the special task force is to find missing persons by applying advanced psychological profiling techniques to peel back the layers of the victims' lives and trace their whereabouts in an effort to discover whether they have been abducted, been murdered, committed suicide or simply run away. The team reconstructs a "Day of Disappearance" timeline that details every minute of the 24 hours prior to the disappearance, following one simple rule: learn who the victim is in order to learn where the victim is. Senior agent Jack Malone (Anthony LaPaglia) heads the dedicated team that knows too well that every second counts when someone vanishes. His squad includes Samantha Spade (Poppy Montgomery), an agent who doesn't let her good looks get in the way of being tough; Vivian Johnson (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), a no-nonsense investigator; Danny Taylor (Enrique Murciano), an intense and private agent; and Martin Fitzgerald (Eric Close), the newest member of the team, considered a lightweight by the squad because his only experience involves fighting white-collar crime. In six seasons, much has happened. Martin Fitzgerald is no longer considered the lightweight he once was, having earned the respect of the team through his solid work. Jack Malone has been through many ups and downs and now finds himself in a bad position following the mishandling of a case. Vivian Johnson has proven herself, and a new agent has been welcomed into the ranks -- Elena Delgado (Roselyn Sánchez), a Hispanic female agent who came on in the program's fourth season as the squad faced ever-increasing demands on its time and resources. A former member of the NYPD, she is already known to Danny and their connection grows as the series progresses. Without a Trace aired Thursday nights on CBS from its premiere in 2002 until the 2006-2007 season. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me......There's no place I can be since I found Serenity, you can't take the sky from me." Firefly is set five hundred years from today in a new planetary system after humanity abandons "Earth That Was". Under the leadership of Malcolm Reynolds, a renegade who fought against the new unified central government (the "Alliance"), the crew of the Firefly-class vessel Serenity struggles to survive any way they can. They fly between the border planets to keep away from the Alliance and below its radar. This series was described as a "science fiction western" but is different from other space-based shows as it features no aliens. (For stations and individuals seeking the intended air order of the series as specified by creator Joss Whedon, as opposed to the order Fox originally aired them or that they are informing stations is the order they should be shown in, see here) Each of the crew members has a special role: Malcolm Reynolds holds the duty of Captain - he is a defeated soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the Alliance to no avail. He strives to keep all his crew members on task and Serenity flying safely, while trying to make a living and do the right thing...in his rather flexible moral framework. Zoe (aka The Soldier) is extremely loyal to Reynolds as she served with him during the war and owes her life to him. Zoe has the strength and experience to take command of the ship, if necessary. Wash is Serenity's pilot (and Zoe's husband) - unassuming, self-deprecating, and calm with a sense of humor. Kaylee is the ship's mechanic - an experienced engineer who keeps Serenity flying. Inara is a 'Registered Companion,' most easily described as a high-priced courtesan or geisha. She is also the person with the highest social standing on the ship and acts as the crew's Ambassador. Jayne is the muscle of the crew. A tough, uncultured Mercenary, unpleasant and offensively direct, but loyal to those on his crew...usually. The newcomers are: Simon Tam is the Doctor on Serenity and comes from a wealthy family and has a privileged upbringing. He has spent his life savings and future to save his sister, River. River (aka The Fugitive) was experimented on by the government. Her psychic visions (a result of the experiments) are taken at first as babble by the crew but they slowly come to realize that there's more going on than what shows on the surface. Characters:

James Isaac "Jimmy" Neutron Jimmy is a very smart kid, a genuine boy genius! But he's still the shortest kid in 5th grade, and he can't go out after dark. He spends his time inventing the wackiest gizmos and gadgets you can think of, and then saving the town of Retroville from the unintended results.... Jimmy is an only child and loves it ... most of the time, anyway. Any way you look at it, he's not your average, everyday kind of kid.

Carlton Ulysses "Carl" Wheezer Carl, Jimmy's best friend, loves llamas, and food, and sparkly, shiny things! His favorite channel is The Llama Channel, and one of his favorite activities is folding and hanging his pants! Carl is kinda like an old man trapped in a 5th grader's body. Nonetheless, he's still used as a test subject for many of Jimmy's inventions, and he usually goes along willingly. Although, one of these days, he's gonna end up in the hospital from helping science along....

Sheen Juarerra Estevez Sheen, Jimmy's other best friend, is completely, 100% obsessed with UltraLord. UltraLord, as Sheen would be quick to explain, is an action figure (not a doll) from the TV show The UltraLord Show. Sheen almost always has at least one of his many action figures with him, and he can relate anything to UltraLord. He is usually pretty funny and is the most maniacal character in Retroville.

Cynthia Aurora "Cindy" Vortex Cindy strongly believes that girls are better than boys, period. Especially if those boys are Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen. Cindy is the second smartest kid at Lindbergh Elementary, which really annoys her - she hates being second-best. But beneath her tough exterior, she secretly has a crush on the town's resident boy genius.

Liberty Danielle "Libby" Folfax Libby is Cindy's best friend. She's also something like a walking electronic store, since she's usually wearing her headphones, listening to her CD Player, talking on her cell phone, or any combination thereof. Libby sort of keeps Cindy sane, but she is always there to back her friend up.

Goddard Goddard is Jimmy's best invention, since nothing seems to go wrong with him. He's a living, metal, robotic dog who is very useful - he can do just about anything for Jimmy, like getting out tools or listing options. Goddard is actually a little smarter than Jimmy, and he can sometimes tell when an experiment will go wrong. But Jimmy always asures him that it will be fine.... Nick Dean Nick Dean is Mr. Cool according to the kids of Lindbergh Elementary. He can usually be seen with his helmet on, doing fancy tricks on his skateboard.

Jimmy's Parents Jimmy's parents are about as normal as their son. Jimmy's dad, Hugh Beaumont Neutron, loves pie and ducks. He's nice and everything, but Jimmy can't help wishing his dad was less embarrasing. Jimmy's mom, Judy Neutron, is more serious than Hugh, and she's where Jimmy got his intelligence. She's the cook and mechanic around the house, always fixing up pies and cars.

Miss Winifred Fowl Miss Fowl is the gang's 5th grade teacher. She sounds and looks much like a chicken. She's always willing to teach, even if Jimmy and Cindy are more like the teachers in the

Betty Quinlan Our favorite boy genius has a bit of a crush on this older girl. And the more appearances Betty makes, the more jealous Cindy becomes.

Bolbi Stroganovsky Bolbi is a foreign exchange student hailing from Bakheristan. Many of our American customs are still a mystery to Bolbi, but he is quickly adapting. One of his first American experiences was being elected student body president on soon after he began attending Lindbergh Elementary.

    The enemies:

King Goobot Goobot is the king of the planet Yolkus. After Jimmy's satellite-toaster lands on his ship, he kidnaps all the parents in Retroville and quickly transforms into Jimmy's worst enemy.

Ooblar Ooblar is the brother and sidekick of Goobot. He is often hilarious and crazier than the king.

Poultra Poultra is an enormous, mutant chicken. She used to be the chicken god of Yolkus, but she presumably left for another planet after the embarrassing incident with Retroville's kids and parents.

Professor Finbarr Calamitous Calamitous is a bumbling, evil genius who never finishes anything, sometimes including his own sentences! Originally, he was plotting to use Jimmy to help him take over Retroville, but now his main goal is to destroy Jimmy and his friends.

The Junkman The Junkman is an alien junk-dealer who kidnapped Jimmy's mechanical brother's parents, Mombot and Popbot, to turn them into Grava-Disks. All he cares about is making interstellar money. Also, Goddard appears to be in love with the Junkman's alien dog, Roxy.

Eustace Strytch Eustace is a spoiled rich boy who started his enmity with Jimmy in a kite contest. His desire is to have Goddard and to make Jimmy's friends of his own, thought he doesn't trust in anybody but him, his lots of money and his butler, who happens to make him company and responds to every one of his foiled plans.

Meldar Meldar is an alien who, using the power of matrix generators in his cuff links, forced different forms of life from different planets to play his game show, Intergalactic Showdown, where the losers got their home planet destroyed! Jimmy and the others got his show cancelled permanently, though, forcing Meldar to work on infomercials.

Twonkies Twonkies are cute and fluffy creatures from the comet Twonkus 9 ... at least, they're cute and fluffy until they hear music! Music causes them to mutate into horrible, ugly creatures that try to tear up the town, eventually combining together to form a sort of mega twonkie, and this is the Final state. The Twonkies continue to make cameos in episodes throughout the 3rd season. Be on the lookout for them.

Grandma Tatters Althought you can first think of her as a chubby and good-as-bread grandma, she's part of an evil race of aliens from outerspace who can control human's people emotions and make them all 'happy' zombies.

Dr. Moist A scientific and crazy genius. He managed to build his own lab in the Bermuda Triangle, at the bottom of the sea. People who passes through, Dr. Moist abducts them to his lab and turns them into Algae Men.

Welcome to the Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends guide at TV.com. The show is about a tank engine, Thomas, and his friends who live on the Island of Sodor. Together, the engines work on the railways under the supervision of Sir Topham Hatt, the "Fat Controller." Thomas The Tank Engine actually dates back to 1945, when the Reverend Wilbert Vere Awdry created The Railway Series to amuse his son Christopher, who was suffering from measles. His wife Margaret encouraged him to publish the stories and he did so, going on to add another book each year (except 1947 and 1971) until 1972. Wilbert's son Christopher later continued The Railway Series up to 40 books. In 1984 Britt Allcroft decided to turn the stories into a TV series with Ringo Starr as the narrator. He was replaced by Michael Angelis in 1991, who still narrates today. (Full Narrator listings below.) When the series was shown on PBS in the US, it was part of a show called Shining Time Station. 2 of the show's narrators played Mr. Conductor in the series, Ringo Starr in the earlier episodes and George Carlin later. Since the show ran from 1989 to 1993, only early episodes of Thomas are part of it. A note on writers: In the episode guide, the writers are as follows: If the episode is based on a Railway Series book by the Rev W Awdry, he will be credited as the writer. If the episode is based on a Railway Series book by Christopher Awdry, he will be credited as the writer. If the episode is not based on a Railway Series book, Britt Allcroft and David Mitton will be credited as the writers since they wrote it. From Season 6 the writers are varied. Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends is Based on The Railway Series by The Reverend W. Awdry. Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends and Thomas & Friends are trademarks of HIT Entertainment Inc.moreless

    Walker, Texas Ranger

    Walker, Texas Ranger

    Follow
    CBS (ended 2001)
Cordell Walker is a contemporary Texas Ranger working out of the Dallas office who believed in dealing with criminals the old-fashioned way--by beating them up. Despite the rules that governed the way law-enforcement officers were supposed to act. Walker's approach closely resembled the "eye for an eye" school of crime fighting. His partner is young Jimmy Trivette, who had grown up in the slums of Baltimore and used football as his ticket to a college education and a career with the Dallas Cowboys until he busted his shoulder. Despite Jimmy's belief in computers and scientific criminology, working with Walker, always seemed to leave him bruised and sore--when Walker was trying to get information or take people into custody it was more than likely there would be a fistfight or karate kicks. County Assistant D.A. Alex Cahill, his sometimes girlfriend, frowned on Walker's methods, even if they did get results. When not on duty Walker and the others hung out at C.D.'s, the saloon/restaurant owned by his buddy C.D. Parker, a former Ranger forced into early retirement after taking a bullet in the knee, who still provided help and advice on cases. Uncle Ray was the wise old Native American who had raised Walker. He died at the end of the 3rd season. Star Chuck Norris, former karate champion and movie star, played Walker in the deadpan unemotional style he used in most of his feature films. Nothing ever seemed to excite him, and the violence on the show had a cartoon quality about it. There was a surrealistic efficiency about Walker--he almost never broke sweat, got hurt, or wasted a blow--using violence because it was necessary but never glorying on it. This is Norris' first time in a TV series.moreless

Arthur Read, the spectacular bespectacled aardvark stars in this children's series about growing up. Typical childhood problems such as bratty siblings, schoolyard bullies and classroom cliques are addressed by this popular program. Arthur's seventeenth season has come to a close. However, watch for repeats again soon on your local PBS station. And keep watching for more details on upcoming episodes of the program. Currently, Arthur is the second longest-running North American animated series (behind The Simpsons), now with seventeen seasons and counting. Developed from Marc Brown's beloved books, Arthur reminds us all of how it feels to be 8 years old. Just like your average kid, Arthur overcomes the dreaded obstacles of third-grade life, such as his tough teacher Mr. Ratburn, bullies, and mountains of homework. At home, Arthur must face the pint- terror also known as his sister Dora Winifred, or D.W. for short. Everything between these two is a struggle; who gets control of the television remote, who can play their Crazy Bus CD, whose hobbies are dumber, that's a baby show...Will Arthur ever win one of these pointless arguments? Probably never, because not only is D.W. fiercely independent, she's also very smart. But despite it all, Arthur and D.W. are still brother and sister, and when they're not arguing, they can accomplish great things together.

Keeping Arthur sane are his helpful friends --- an assortment of colorful animal cohorts who always provide sound advice and a few laughs too. They are: Francine Frensky (a tomboy who would rather play sports than go to the mall), Buster Baxter (an enthusiastic gourmand), Alan "The Brain" Powers (a bona-fide 3rd grade genius, who even writes computer programs in his spare time), Muffy Crosswire (the rich girl with a real heart of gold), and Sue Ellen Armstrong (a traveler of the world and geography expert). Arthur can also sometimes be seen with Fern Walters (a soft-spoken musician with semi-hidden goth interests), Binky Barnes (acts like a bully, but enjoys pastimes such as ballet and clarinet), George Nordgren / Lundgren (a somewhat shy moose who be truly entertaining when he tries), Prunella (who supposedly has psychic powers and is actually in the fourth grade) and Jenna Morgan (a rarely seen cat-girl.) And of course, who could forget Pal, Arthur's lovable, loyal pet pooch?

Arthur airs on PBS every weekday and on some stations on weekends --- check local listings for time. Or, go to the PBS Kids' Arthur schedule to find out which episode is airing in a city near you.

A large number of Arthur stories have been released on DVD and video. Many episodes are also available in book form. There are also a wealth of Arthur-related promotions and products, so keep an eye on the news and check online merchants such as eBay and Amazon, and your local stores. You can also check your local library for Arthur books.
