Degrassi Junior High

"A Big Girl Now" is an alright Degrassi Junior High episode. I like this episode more for the subplots than the "A" plot. I really like the character Lucy and I love her storylines, but this is her only plot I didn't like in the series. I hated how she ditched her friends to hang out with Paul and his friends. Paul was such a jerk. He tried to pressure Lucy into having sex. By the end of this episode. I love the subplot of Kathleen losing the school election. I love how she freaked out on Melanie and Melanie decides she doesn't need Kathleen anymore. I also love the plot of Wheel's feeling hurt that Snake has not said a word to him since his parent's death. I love how Snake ends up talking to Wheels by the end of the episode. I give this episode a 8/10.

This episode is important to watch. It is hard to balance a dating relationship with friendships, but so important, and it's good to think about. Some lines that Lucy should've said was, to Clutch who said he didn't want any "niners" at the party, "well I'm a niner, and it's my party, do you want it or don't you?" Also, Paul is such a wimp. He is totally whipped by Clutch, and passes that on to Lucy. I think he just wants to look good for Clutch because he's the "cool" guy. Lucy also could address that with him; that just because Clutch wants him to doesn't mean he has to. But this is all about learning these things as teens to prepare for adulthood. Kathleen's showing how she has to be the best or she's nothing. More references to wanting her parents proud of her and thinks she can only pull that off as president; not as vice-president. Perhaps her trying too hard, and Nancy doing it natural had an effect. I guess Dorothy was also trying to look good; or to make some quick cash, through what she was betting with her friends. They never do say if she is a cousin on the mom's side or dad's side, but I'm thinking dad's side, because if it was mom's they might've shared in the riches somewhat.
