  • Caitlin is diagnosed with epilepsy while Michelle is too shy to make a speech.

"Stage Fright" is one my favourite Degrassi Junior High episodes. In this episode, Caitlin is diagnosed with epilepsy. I love how Degrassi Junior High dealt with such a great issue. There's always some person in the school that has epilepsy. I was diagnosed with epilepsy, but then I grew out of having seizures, but I have a friend that has epilepsy. Anyways, the plot was intense. I love the subplot. I love how Degrassi represents a variety of different characters. I love how they had a plot about shy girl named Michelle who was too scared to make a speech. Michelle became my favourite character on Degrassi. I give this episode a 10/10.

Caitlin learns that she has epilepsy and doesn't want her friends to know. While attending Susie's slumber party, Caitlin has a seizure and her friends find out. Caitlin loses the lead part of the school play to Kathleen and decides to drop out of the show. She later realizes that dropping out won't change her condition and re-joins the show.

Meanwhile, a painfully shy Michelle is terrified to give a speech in front of the class. Joey teases her by calling her a mouse (quiet like a mouse) and making squeaking noises. When Michelle tries to get out of the speech by telling Mr. Raditch she has a sore throat, he doesn't fall for it and tells her to talk about something she knows. She gives her speech on her shyness, and everyone loves it. Afterward Joey tries to get Michelle to write his speech. this was one of the best episodes mainly because caitlin is such a great actress. also because it was well written. I tend to prefer the fun episodes but they cant all be fun.
  • Caitlin has a seizure, and Michelle has to give a speech.

Caitlin has epilepsy, and doesn't want to take pills and to wear a medical alert bracelet. So, she doesn't take her pills and she takes off the bracelet. Add to this the fact that she stays up really late at Susie's slumber party, and you have the ingredients for a seizure! She has a seizure at the party, and thank goodness Susie recognized the symptoms and immediately got help. Caitlin initially drops out of the school play because she lost the lead role to her nemesis Kathleen and felt sorry for herself. But she came to her senses and rejoins the cast.

Poor Michelle! She is painfully shy, and has to give a 5-minute speech in front of the WHOLE class! I feel for her, because I used to be really shy when I was younger. She gets through the speech just fine!
  • Caitlin is diagnosed with Epilepsy. Yet she doesn't want anyone to know, so takes off her Medic-Alert, and hides to take her meds, until she has a seizure at Susie's. Michelle needs to give a speech and is very nervous.

This is a good episode, to give awareness of epilepsy, and how it happens, and one can still live a normal life as long as they are careful. Which is something everyone should learn from anyway. And how parents can disagree on the balance of being careful and having a life. That line of Melanie about inviting boys and Kathleen saying "you want to end up like Spike", well, one advantage to a pregnant girl being there; others learning not to follow that example. That's really good stuff. I love the part about Michelle. I've been nervous about speeches too. But she was bolder than I would've been. If I'd done that maybe the "Joeys" in my life would've been caught too. Well okay, it is just TV. But it's sweet to watch her blossom. And Alexa is just silly to give examples of having a period. That probably would've led to Mr Raditch asking her to do the speech on periods.
  • A good episode on illness

I think this was a very good episode that dealt with not only epilesy but coming to terms with an illness and realizing that medication helps and that you shouldn't be ashamed.

I have some illnesses myself-depression, panic disorder-so I understood how Caitlin felt in this episode. You're scared what your friends will think of you, you're scared of having an episode in front of them.

This episode tells people that you need to take your medication or else you can have a violent reaction and that you shouldn't underestimate your friends and think they'll see you differantly because of the illness.
