  • Wheels runs away. Shane takes acid.

"Taking Off" Part 1 is a great Degrassi Junior High episode. By this episode, I slowly start to dislike Wheels. He has an awful attitude. I don't like how he disrespects his grandparents. He should be thankful that he has a place to stay where they feed him. That being said, I love his running away storyline. It was creepy how he hitchhikes and that guy try to molest him. And I love the subplot of Luke and Shane taking acid. I give this episode a 9/10.moreless

Good consistency. After the previous contact Wheels had with Mike, I wondered how long it would be before he tries to see him, or maybe even track down his birth mother. Hey; Mike's name is Nelson, as is Spike's. Spike has her mother's maiden name I think because her father is out of the picture. Maybe Mike and Spike's mom are related which would make Wheels and Spike cousins of some sort. Interesting. Luke I don't see as much more than a troublemaker, and he seems to have Shane under his spell to some degree. Probably Shane is just cracking; the pressure of being a pastor's kid, plus being an unwed father, and feeling unappreciated, and so on. It would be nice, though, to see Luke's parents. It's like he's home alone when the police come to his house. It would be just typical that Wheels would get molested by his driver. He was warned about hitchhiking, but he was so determined that Joey and Snake couldn't talk him out of it.moreless
