Against her father's orders, Voula attends the school dance, but doesn't tell him she's going. Stephanie asks Wheels to be her date for the dance, and he accepts. Before arriving, Stephanie, Heather and Erica go to Lucy's house and start drinking her parents' alcohol. By time they get to the dance, Stephanie is drunk and ends up getting sick in the washroom. Voula is persuaded by everyone to give a speech for the school that was supposed to have been given by Stephanie. Voula's father walks into the gym, and takes his daughter home.moreless

"The Big Dance" is a great Degrassi Junior High episode. I actually love Voula in this episode and it's basically the only episode beside the series premiere in which I like her. I love her storyline of trying to live in the new generation while being held back by the old generation. I love how she gets rebellious and lies to her dad about the school dance. My favourite plot had to be the Stephanie's plot. I love how Lucy invited Heather, Erica, and Stephanie to her house before the dance. I love how Heather and Erica acted like they drank before. I love how Stephanie gets drunk. I give this episode a 8.5/10.moreless

this was my favorite degrassi episode ever because it was so much fun. there were no serious issues, no dramatic moments, no preaching like in the later years of degrassi. the girls just saw the liquor and decided to get wasted. hahaha. btw the twins got drunk too. hahahaha.

Classic example of parents too strict and what one will do for attention and popularity. I love how the class is sponsoring a child, and looking for ways to help. Having Stephanie ask Lucy about asking boys out, that's a good start. Of course then Stephanie never waits to be asked out; she is in control. She asks Wheels out, and he seems happy. Interesting how diverse thinking is between Voula and Lucy. Lucy has spent her whole life manipulating her parents, while Voula's have regulated her every move. It's good to see that interaction, and learning from it. I hated watching how Stephanie gets drunk, and then goes to the dance; that's disgusting. When I was in junior high, you can't get into their dances if you're drunk! How did she get in? And then slobber over Wheels? Ugh! I would be proud of Voula for her speech about the foster child. Yet her dad just uses this to exercise his authority; I hate when parents do that! But there are those who do; so good example. And Voula just submitting to him in order to save her butt. So many girls have done that.moreless
