Degrassi Junior High

"What a Night!" is one of my favourite Degrassi Junior High episodes from season 1. I love this episode because it has many layers. It's really sad how Lucy's parents have neglected her and they don't know what's going on with her. I love Lucy's shoplifting storyline because it's an edgy storyline. I like the subplot of Stephanie trying to go out with a soap opera star and he turns out to be a jerk. I give this episode a 10/10.

Voula befriends Lucy by helping her with her homework. After her marks improve, Lucy shows her appreciation by taking Voula shopping for clothes. At the store, Voula learns that her friend shoplifts. Lucy steals a sweater Voula likes and they are both caught when leaving the store and are taken to the police station, where Lucy is charged. Stephanie meets her favourite soap opera star at a book signing and agrees to go out on a date with him. After he tries to seduce her, Stephanie informs him that she lied about her age and that she is a minor, and he flees. although not a "classic" episode this was a better than average DJH ep. it had a good story line, good acting, and as usual stephanie shines in it. in the 1st season she was 90% of the show. she was gorgeous, had the most interesting character, and was the best actor on the show. i think only joey and caitlin were as good actors as she was.

What is most painful is that things don't always look like they are. Lucy appears to have the perfect parents. They never bug her about her slipping grades, they buy her whatever they want, and they work a lot so she can do whatever she wants. Lucy seems happy with that, and even disputes Voula's wondering if she gets lonely. But then after Voula leaves, turning down her offer to have dinner with her, we see her quietly crying. She knows how to make Voula feel the same by saying "boring" when she says "my dad makes us have supper together", but it appears she's jealous of that. But it's easier to make Voula feel bad than to admit, yes, she's lonely. It's especially painful to see her shoplift, even though she clearly doesn't need to since she gets whatever she wants. And most amusing to see them get busted on both sides of the escalator. And it shows more when Voula's parents come right away, while Lucy's don't show for hours. It took me watching on another channel to answer to question of why they're watching soaps in the school library. That they're using the TV secretly until the library teacher hears something. It's also painful to see Stephanie actually going to meet Damon and not listening to the twins' warnings. It seems she learned something good from that; that her mom is not just trying to steal her fun. And it's nice to see Voula still trying to help Lucy with schoolwork even if she can't see her outside of school. Maybe she feels sorry for her about the whole mess.

it was awsome and i want everyone to watch it it make me know at a lot more about life and i think all young people should watch it. it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it was awsome
