  • Alex and her family needs money, so she does whatever it takes to make money.

"Don't You Want Me" part 1 is a terrific Degrassi episode! I think this is Alex's first double episode. We already know that Alex doesn't have the best home life, but I love how you actually get to see her home life more in this episode. In this episode, Alex's mom has no more money, so Alex gets a job as a waittress. But then Alex finds out that she can get more money as a stripper. I love the subplot with Emma thinking she's pregnant. I love how she ends up not being pregnant. I give this episode a 10/10.moreless

Alex and her mother Emily are in trouble. Chad, Emily's boyfriend, has run up thousands of dollars in credit card debt and hasn't been paying the rent. This is bad and Alex needs to make more money than she can at the movie theatre when a job as a waitress at a strip club comes up, she takes it, but learns there's bigger money onstage. Alex has to decide what to do and how maybe more-than-friend Paige will deal with the situation. Meanwhile, Emma wants to make plans for next year and is shocked to learn Sean's don't include her.Emma tells Sean she's pregnant.

This was a great episode. One of the best of the season next to RTT and TBP.moreless

alex and her mom are in bad shape money wise and they need help. alex quites her job at the movie theater and becomes a waitress at a bar. but she soon learns that the strippers on stage get paid more. is she willing to do this to herself so she can come up with the money? emma and sean have problems when emma does not agree with sean's choice for a job and emma reveals she believes she is pregnant.

good episode i guess, a tad boring in some parts but overall a nice episode, gets a B- or somoreless
  • Alex becomes a stripper to help with the rent. Emma and Sean think they might be having a baby.

    6.0
In some ways I don't really understand this episode (the two parter). I loved that part regarding Alex, and I thought it was extremely realistic. I loved how she tried to help her mother deal with everything going on, and even went as far as to put aside her pride in order to help pay the rent and credit card bills. She stepped up in a big way.

I didn't, however, like the portrayal of Emma in this episode. It made her look like a freaking psycho, and out of character. She shouldn't have acted the way she did, but neither should have Sean. A lot of people think that she was faking being pregnant, but I don't agree with that. I think that she legitimately thought she was pregnant and freaked out. I think Sean was being immature about the whole situation. I hated how they made the characters (Emma and Sean) seem so freaking immature and pathetic. I loved the episodes, but I thought that they were a little OOC for Sean and Emma.moreless

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • This episode has a slight allusion to Flashdance. Alex (both main character to movie and this episode) is a dancer in a bar. Concidentally, Zanzibar is a name of a bar in the movie, and also the name of the bar Alex dances in during this episode of Degrassi.

    • The title of this two-part episode is the same as a song by The Human League from their 1981 album "Dare".
