So, throughout the years many of the characters on Degrassi have had some pretty big transformations. From attitude, to looks, to style, and life outlook, Which character do you think has had the greatest transformation and why?

I will start out this post and name a few people who I believe have had some great transformations.

    Emma:

Her overall look has been tremendous.once her braces came off she had a great smile, amazing body, and I've always loved her personality. I think for a while she always thought she new whats best for herself/people.but I loved that in MANY episodes we saw how self-conscious and insecure she has felt at times.

    Anya:

A lot of times I havent been fond of her, because she is a very quirky person. but i think she looked best in episode "why cant this be love" in the scene where she told sav that she may possibly be pregnant.I just thought she was most striking in that scene. she is always canging hair color but everything about her looked great.

    Spinner:

I think he looked best in season 5 or 7. they are both a tie to me. his acting was AMAZING in both seasons and her is constantly changing his look. and its good to look back and thinking "i remember 1st seeing him look this way, or that way".

I have to agree with Emma and Spinner. I think Spinner and Marco tie for the MOST transformations, appearance-wise. I'm going to add Clare, going from shy, unsure, pony-tailed, Catholic-school-uniformed, bespectacled to outgoing toalmost blunt, kicky hair & clothes, and spec-free. The best thing is that she never lost her, well, Clare-ness.

I gotta go with Fiona. While she hasn't changed tremendously appearance-wise, her characterization from season 9--from bland snob to complex and compelling--has been incredible. I love that she's been written as a lesbian, and that her plots since her coming out have not been about her sexuality itself (*koff* Riley *koff*), but how it ties in to her drinking problem. She's become one of my favourite characters, not just of this generation, but of the entire cast from the show's beginning.

I 10000% agree! I was going to mentionClareandMarcoaswell, but this was at like 2am that i made this post lol Marco is deffinently a great person for transformations. looking back on his character I used to think at times that his character could of been a little bit better (even though i still thought he was great). but after seeing riley and zane, i LOVE marcos character even more.

I really like clare's physical transformation too.I just watched a season 8 episodeyesterdayonteen-nickand god she looks nothing like her character in season 8. she had such a baby face in that season lol But i have hated her character development since the end of TBP. i loved her in season 8/9 and TBP. but now she is soo whiny and only talks about boys, i feel like the writers are forcing her to act like that. I honestly dont see clare as a boy-crazy person. but i think they are trying to make clare the "emma nelson" of the new generation with the boy drama. but i thought emma's was waaaaay more interesting and realistic.

I think fiona has made a transformation from season 9 till now. but i wouldnt say its "stand-out" transformation. I like her acting and her character a lot, and you are right that we got to meet her as fiona and she grew into a gay character instead of "fiona the lesbian chick". so, yea, I do like her and her acting chops, but i wouldnt say she is the best transformation in the whole show, i think thats a bit of a stretch. the whole original cast has had a bigger transformation then her. she's only been on 3 seasons.

I've got to go with one of my personal favorites: Holly J

Holly J went from one deminsional bitch back in season seven into someone we all ended up caring about and liking in the end. She appearance has changed alot as well. She used to have her trademark ponytail, then went to wearing her hair down, then she trimmed it shorter (Which I kind of dislike). There's something about the way she acts that eventhough she's mean sometimes you still can feel a hint of sadness for her.

^ very true. thats why I loved her in season 7. even though she was soo mean, i think a lot of people only saw her as "the mean girl" in season 7, but when u look at her she was very insecure. especially in "jessies girl".

I LOVED jane in season 7 and season 9. only like jane in "jane says" in season 8. i loved her goth look. and her pretty girl look in season 9. but she looked homeless in season 8.

    And Spinner's constant hair changes.

true, ellie has had great looks. but i hated her look in season 6. she dressed like one of the olsen twins....really? her character was overall terrible in season 6. LOved her in season 7 aswell as her and marcos dynamic relationship in season 7 and overall.

i agree, i like marco's transformation even though it is quite a bit about his sexuality. but i like the way he went from hiding it, to being really insecure and shy, to really embracing it, i love his journey.

i also really like ellie's journey from being goth, alternative, hanging out alone, self harming to growing slowly in confidence, dating a few different people, becoming a drummer, stopping self harm, becoming a journalist and having caitlin as her mentor. i also LOVE holly j's transformation. she's such a bitch in season 7, yet very compelling to watch. i also love charlotte arnold as an actress, she's great. but like someone else said, we grow to love her and she changes into such a likeable character, i'm so sad to see her go in season 11 in addition to that, i love the way fiona and holly j's relationship changes completely and strengthens through her drinking phase, and then fiona falls in love with her, and ah, that's so cute. i love them both

i also agree with spinner, i think he probably changes appearance and character-wise the most seperate times, and i like that he's not always just to do with girlfriends, but it's to do with his relationship with his friends as well. i think he's an awesome actor, and really pulls it off. i think some characters they try to change some characters too much in other shows and it just doesn't work, but somehow with all spinner's been through, it's still a bit more believable (other than marrying emma, not a fan of that plot!).

Not going to write a big paragraph since I agree with you guys, but gotta go with..

Emma - For the reasons you stated. She became pretty damn hot.. pretty damn fast.

Fiona - Reasons stated earlier. Complete stuck-up snobby princess to an amazing friend (Among other things)

Anya - Extremely shy/Conserved, let everyone step all over her just so she could fit in. Fast forward two seasons and she's extremely independent. Plus she got hotter as well. Or is it just me? She just seemed way more.. shy/nerdy in S7/8. Not that that's a bad thing, but still.

Holly J - Went from being a complete stuck-up ***** to just.. everything. An awesome friend and girlfriend. Had the money problems, knocked down a few notches with the shooting, etc etc... I love Holly J.

Attitude-wise, I definitely say Holly J and for the better. I'm glad she's being more selfless and generous and overall, just generally nice now. Looks wise, I have to agree with what the previous posters have stated. Emma and Ellie by far. Ellie is beautiful when she's not dressed up as a goth! And let's not forget how Manny was a ponytail-wearing "little kid" during Season 1 (like most, but..) and by the time she left she was arguably one of the hottest girls on the show. (the hottest in my opinion)

    Honestly, the best transformations:

HollyJ (was a cold hearted bitch, then became a beautiful, sincere person who fought for her life. Not to mention being a good friend.)

Fiona (went from a quiet, stuck up, anti-social, clingy to her brother type of girl, to a acoholic drinking, lesbian lip locking, abused spirit , to a sensible person.)

Spinner (was a class clown who grew into his own man.)

Jimmy (he went from a rich, hot headed, tough acting kid, to a wheel chair-ed man with a much more mature outlook in life and was no longer beat for drama.)

There are more, but these are a few.

...and she blows the sensible part in the first episode of this season.

    ^ yes she did.......yea she did..lol

I like that the promo's arent giving anything away this season. people are upset, but yyet they were upset when the promos gave too much away...!!??

This season could be good. liked the 1st 2 episodes, but degrassi has slowly turned into a disney show with its pranks/parties.
