Wavin' Flag
The episode begins with Katie and Clare at the Degrassi Daily editorial office after school, discussing what the cover story for tomorrow's edition will be. A knock on the door by Drew just may be the only thing that can break Katie's concentration. Getting the hint, Clare leaves the two alone, allowing Drew to come in and lean for a kiss, only to be broken by Katie's inquiries.
K: "Mr. Quarterback, shouldn't you be on the field, running and stretching and putting on a show for all the cheerleaders?"
D: "Has Marisol been stalking us again?"
K: "Oh please, I know Owen's only shirtless in the middle of October just to show off for those girls. Mar even said she saw a little ab-flash from you."
C: "Uhh Katie, if your boyfriend doesn't mind, we have to meet deadline by 6."
Drew is pushed out of the office by Katie, promising to meet with him at The Dot tonight. With no time to research for any cover story, Clare makes the decision to post a watered-down version of yesterday's cover story about the Degrassi students that got arrested earlier this week for their public protesting and boycotting of animal testing. Katie, still relieved that she made the decision to turn down a few of her friends' offers of her going with them to the protest, still regrets not going for the moral benefit. And the praise.
C: "It's a good thing we're the write-the-company-a-stern-letter type of people, right?"
K: "Yeah...sure..."

The next morning, Katie and Marisol give the announcements as Tori and Maya are seen heading to class. Tori holds up a flyer in front of Maya's face, excited for the upcoming Little Miss Toronto beauty pageant. Tori explains that because she was a seven-time champion from when she was a kid, she gets to be a judge for this year's competition. They bump into Connor and Wesley accidentally, and right after Tori gives Connor a huge smile, she begins to yell at the two to watch where they're going. As they pairs go in opposite directions, Tori looks back, giving Connor the "text me" signal. Connor and Wesley walk into class to find Ms. Oh writing the letter "i" on the whiteboard. She tells the class that today's lesson will be about Apple and Steve Jobs' accomplishments. Connor and Wesley talk about after school plans, but Connor tells him that he is busy playing a new video game, when he is really going to the Little Miss Toronto competition - his first real public outing with Tori.
The scene cuts to Eli and KC at their lockers discussing the next racecar tournament. Eli tells KC that he's been able to mooch some car parts from his father, but KC becomes too distracted as Fiona walks by. Stunned by her beauty, he asks Eli who she is.
E: "Haha, seriously? That's Fiona Coyne, rich bitch from Manhattan. She directed my play last year."
K: "Rich, artistic and beautiful. Just what I need to get over she-who-shall-not-be-name."
E: "You mean JENNA?"
K (punching Eli's arm): "Is she single or not dude?"
E: "Bro, let's just say you're not her type."
Eli reveals to KC that's she gay, which doesn't seem to stop KC as he begs Eli to talk to Fiona for him.
Katie walks by the two, texting on her phone. She approaches Drew at his locker, and she asks if he's free this afternoon. Drew, excited for some time with Katie, says he isn't free, but isn't prepared for what she asks next. She asks him if he would like to attend a rally against ocean pollution. Uninterested, he agrees anyways. Katie kisses his cheek, and heads off to class.
In the next scene, Katie is at the editorial office telling Clare to be in charge for the meeting after school. Clare assumes that Katie and Drew will be spending time together, but Katie reveals that she has duties to take care of. When Clare questions her, Katie tells her about the ocean pollution protest. Clare tries to talk Katie out of it, although she doesn't listen and leaves anyways.
After school, Tori and Connor are seen walking along the stage for the beauty pageant. Tori admits that she feels happy to be out in the open with Connor, hugging him as they get off stage to meet with the other judges. Maya then walks into the room, wondering why Connor's there. Tori pulls Maya aside.
T: "What are you doing here?"
M: "Band practice got finished early, and I wanted to see what all the hype about these pageants are about. The better question is, why is Connor here?"
T: "Could we not talk about this now?"
M: "Are you two dating?"
T: "What....no..."
M: "Oh my God. Why didn't you tell me?"
T: "Because you'd get freaked out by it. Look, Connor makes me happy, and I mean really happy. He sees me for me, and I won't let you ruin it."
M: "I'm glad you could find someone that make you feel that way Tori, but I mean...you've heard the stories right?"
T: "They're not true."
M: "Yeah, they are. He steals underwear Tori. Are you missing any?"
T: "What? No. God Maya, could you just please let me be happy?"
Reluctantly, Maya goes over to Connor to introduce herself. A few of the judges go over to the trio, revealing that there has been an incident in the changing rooms. It appears that a few things have been stolen. At that moment, Tori, disgusted, flees with Maya, telling Connor to leave. Connor becomes confused, but later realizes what she means, trying to tell her that he had nothing to do with it.
The scene cuts to Eli and Fiona at The Dot, working on a comedy skit together for drama class. Eli asks Fiona what she thinks about KC. She immediately calls him a baby-daddy, jokingly, and asks why he asked that. He reveals that he likes her, causing the two to laugh. Fiona then admits that KC is hot, although she would never go out with him. Suddenly, KC shows up, knowing that the two would be there. He begins to joke around and talk to Fiona, which is followed up by a coffee date offer, with Eli shaking his head. Fiona accepts for the Hell of it, and the two get their own table leaving Eli.
The same afternoon, Katie and Drew, dressed in the proper attire, join with the rest of the protesters who have gathered around a factory that is known for ocean dumping. (I don't really feel like going into great detail about the situation itself, but you get the idea). Shortly after, several cops come to stop the rally. Katie and Drew decide to flee in hopes of not ending up like the people of the cover story of the Degrassi Daily. Katie is soon grabbed by a female cop, and Drew decides to continue running, leaving Katie.
The scene transitions to the police station where Katie's parents come to get her out of trouble. Katie asks where Maya is, and her mom tells her that Maya is with Tori at a pageant. Katie's father bargians to let Katie go, especially because of her unmarked reputation. The police decide to let her go with a warning, and Katie's parents ground her for a month. Her mother then asks why Katie did it. Katie reveals that she wanted to stand up for what she believed in, no matter the consequence. But she later decides that she isn't the type to go out and protest; she's more of the letter-writer.
The next day, KC meets up with Fiona at the front entrance of Degrassi. He tells her that he would like to spend more time with her, and she admits that he is charming, and agrees to go out with him again. Excited, KC kisses Fiona surprisingly, and she then realizes that she's definitely gay.
F: "And to think that I thought I was bisexual, even for a little bit."
Laughing, she goes inside, leaving KC confused. In the lobby, Fiona and Connor see each other, with Fiona feeling disgusted (because she found out he stole her panties from Anya's birthday party). Connor is then confronted by Tori, who reveals that she shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. It seems as though a contestant's brother stole the clothes. The two make up, although they hide their affections from everyone else.
In the final scene, Katie walks into the editorial office to have Clare waiting for her to say "I told you so." Katie admits that she was forcing herself to be someone she isn't, and Clare reveals that Katie's little adventure is tomorrow's cover story. As the two laugh, Drew knocks on the door. He apologizes to Katie, in hopes that the two could forget the whole thing happened. Katie says that he left her to get in trouble, and that she doesn't know if she can forgive him. He then says that it was her stupid idea to go to the rally in the first place. Taking back what he said, she decides to break up with him, believing that he doesn't respect her beliefs. As he leaves, Clare asks Katie if she's alright. Katie says that she's ok, and the two continue to talk.
