if they didn't continue onto the 45th season? the reason for so many mismatched pairings and overall general WTF moments are obviously partly due to the fact that they dragged on this show for so long, leading to the inevitable departure of many of the actors. if the show had ended in season 5/6, who do you think would have ended up together? how do you think they would have ended the show overall?

^ 100% agree...i honestly hated jane and peter together after season 7..they were AMAZING in season 7. then after that it was all about relationship crap..i HATE when they have two-parters like "lost in love" or "somebody to love and waiting for a girl like you" as 2-parters when u know at the end they are gonna stay together..thats why ive hated they're valentines episodes ever since they started doing them in season 8.

WTF couples started long before that. Spinner and Manny?

Peter and Jane? You don't mean Peter and Mia?

The episodes aired to coincide with Valentine's Day were certainly nothing to write home about, for sure. Not that they were BAD episodes, but there was nothing to them. No "issues". At least this year, with WLTO, we had two episodes that went beyond the fluffy love stuff into something darker. A major step up from Lost In Love, Somebody, and Waiting For A Girl Like You.

I actually thought Spinner and Jane were one of the best couples in the show's history till season 9 ruined them.

i liked them more in season 9 then season 8. in season 8 idk it just seemed like we all knew they were gonna stay together the whole season so i hate seeing filler episodes of couples that we know are gonna stay together. and spinner bgean to get really whinny at one point and janes storylines just werent as interesting in season 8..they had potential but werent written that great. and spinner getting shot, TERRIBLE!

Speaking of Spinner and Manny, I forget which ep it was, but.. I thought it was hilarious when Spinner asked Manny out. He's like "So.. Whaddaya say -- SAY YES!!!"

I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet but SPINNER/EMMA!? The biggest WTF couple in Degrassi history IMO. The show should have ended with both the 1st gen kids (Paige, Ellie, Marco, Ashley, Jimmy, Spinner) and the 2nd gen kids (Emma, Manny, JT, Darcy, Peter), without bringing the newbies (Clare, Eli, Alli, Connor, KC, Jenna, Dave....). Maybe end it in S7, that seemed like the most appropriate time, since all plots were dedicated to the newbies in S8. These couples should have been endgame: Peter/Darcy, Emma/Sean, Ellie/Craig, Manny/Jay, Paige/Alex, Liberty/Toby, Marco/Dylan, I wouldn't have minded Sean/Ellie, Spinner/Paige, Spinner/Darcy, anyone but Spinner/Emma.

^ 10000% agree! all stories for the old cast should have ended and been finished in season 7. (i still dont like that they left paiges storyline open) ..i wish she got something and then it ends. that way we know she's gonna cope and all that. but to not even give an answer was dissapointing...o, and can i juss say that i really am kinda sad we saw almost none of emma in season 7. i know we saw waaaaaaaay too much of here in season 6 (which i wouldnt of minded if it wasnt all about her and sean) but she only had like 1 A-Plot to herself and she was more of the supporting role in season 7...idk, it just felt like a different season not having here a little more centered around her or not having her somewhat in the forefront.

I dunno about that. While it would've been nice if the show ended, definitely not in season 7.

worst Degrassi season ever. I hope it ends with Clares class graduating, because that's probably when I'm gonna stop watching, unless they keep bringing in interesting characters.

^ well, obviously they don't plan on ending soon with these new niners coming in. lol Iwill mwatch till Alli and the group graduate, but now that Degassi DRAGS out the years, idk if i can sit through another freshman group till graduating.

"Dragging" out the series has nothing to do with the couples.

The only true "WTF" couple was Spinner and Emma. I'll give you guys that. But even that can be logically (to an extent) made seem normal.

To be fair, Sean and Ellie met in possibly the least natural place ever, but they ended up being a good couple. At least better than Sean and Emma for the fiftieth time. (To be fair, anyone and Emma is pretty much a bad pairing.) Or Ellie and that guy she was warning Ash about from late season 3 to the end of season 4.

Spinner and Manny? Seemed to exist only to escalate Crash drama and the Paige/Manny rivalry. Hell, there wouldn't be a Paige/Manny rivalry if not for Spinner and Manny flirting. No Spaige breakup, no Mr. O (at least not until Spinner's confession, at which time Paige would Paige him to the curb), no Paige/Manny rivalry.
