Episode Summary

EDIT

Paige is on top of the world as the new school year approaches. Her boyfriend Spinner finally has wheels of his own, her brother's off at university (hello dorm parties!) and she's even finally going to get justice in her rape case. But when Paige bumps into her accused rapist, Dean, she begins to wonder if going to trial is worth reopening old wounds. Will she be able to vividly depict what happened... in front of Spinner?

  • Paige versus Dean in court.

    10
"Ghost in the Machine" part 1 is a great start to the Degrassi season. I love the continuation of Paige's rape storyline because she wanted to report and charge Dean for what he did and that's exactly what this episode's all about. Paige has clearly moved on, but this trial just brings back all these bad memories for her. It's heartbreaking to see Paige lose the trial and see Dean sentenced as not guilty. But it's actually realistic and it's not cliche. With this being such an intense episode, I enjoy the subplot with Craig inheriting $10 000 and Ashley knows how he can spend it. I give this episode a 10/10.moreless
  • Paige thinks that her past life is behind her but the charges she filed in 2002 against rape is finally brought back up which wrecks paige's life...

This was a good season opener i liked the fact that paige still faced dean even though she didnt that was very good of her! also i liked it when spinner didnt know weather or not to hang a poster of hilary duff in his locker this episode pretty much started a bad luck streak for paige throughout the season paige's life just isnt the same anymore and it lightened her mood which i think most people liked but i miss the old mean paige dont you?!moreless
  • One of the best!

    10
I think that the Dean/Paige rape story line was the best one used on all of Degrassi. I like that they revisited it a few years later. That made it seem like it had gone away, and just when you thought it had, it comes back again. I think it was courageous of Paige to continue with it and even though she didn't win, she still got her revenge on him.moreless
  • Paige deals with the rape.

    8.8
Paige grows as a person in this episode. Instead of curling up and ignoring all that had happened to her, she steps up to the plate and does something about what happened to her. This episode does not sugar coat the problems with procecuting date rape but still empowers girls.
  • This is one of my favorite episodes i realy feel for paige and what she ahs to go through in this episode. i would be real scared to do what she did. but iv learned that paige is strong and i have nothing to worry about with her. stay strongmoreless

    9.3
This episode is very special, because paige was just starting to get on with her life after the rape, and then just when she was stating to realy turn her life around they tell her to go to court. if i were paige and i had to go in front of a court and see the person that didi that to me i would be horrified. not to mention they let Dean go. That was not right.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Since Terri is no longer in the show she is out of the opening credits, and in the spot she appeared is Kendra (not credited just shown). However Kendra is also no longer in the show so why choose to put her in the opening credits?

    • We find out that Emma, Liberty and Toby all broke up with their boyfriends/girlfriend over the summer

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Manny: (referring to the 7th graders) Aww! They're so cute. Remember when we were that afraid of Degrassi?
J.T.: Remember when we were that short?
Danny: Do you remember where the principal's office is?
J.T.: Yeah it's downstairs, through the foyer and to the left.
Danny: Good, go on down. I need to spend time alone with your girlfriend.

    • Dean's Lawyer: Ms. Michalchuk, how many men have you had sex with?
      Paige's Lawyer: Objection!
Paige: Actually, I'd like to answer that. That was my only time. And I wouldn't choose to loose my virginity upstairs, at a house party, with a guy I'd known for an hour.

    • Ashley: Look, I was hoping we could be friends but as soon as I saw you...
Craig: You got sucked into some bizarre last year time warp?
      Ashley:Yeah. So, good birthday?
Craig: Well, my freak of a dad left me this check for ten grand in his will.
      Ashley: Are you serious?
Craig:Yeah, the guy is half eaten by worms and he's still trying to buy me. Pathetic.
