EDIT

In the 10th season premiere, Degrassi's hottest season begins to boil as Holly J. is back for her senior year at Degrassi with a mission. President of the student body equals entrance to Yale and Declan's life. But when Sav decides to run against her, HJ will do anything to get votes, no matter how ruthless? Things are hotter than hot between Fiona and her summer-fling-turned-boyfriend Bobby and she promises to have a drama free school year. However, when Bobby handles her with force and slaps her, she has to decide whether to tell someone or keep it bottled up.

  • What is this cold, plastic, and sterile show and what has it done with the real Degrassi?

    5.0
I'm a huge Degrassi fan. Adore the original series run from Degrassi Junior High to Degrassi High and the School's Out TV movie to the first nine seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation. But this? The one thing that kept me coming back during the later seasons around 7-9 was the remaining characters on the show from the very start (Emma, Spinner, etc) but with the start of the tenth season here I find myself not really caring about any of these new characters left-over, even the ones from the past few seasons. I mean we've still got a few enjoyable characters left over from the last few seasons here but alot of them don't seem exactly the same here for some reason or another. Plus, where's the DRAMA? I mean we've got a few of the old standard Degrassi standby plots involving things like spousal abuse and lying, but even then it's strictly paint-by-numbers stuff.

Not sure how I'll like the tenth season is this is an indication of what it's going to be like.moreless

fiona dates a boy named bobby, but soon notices that her new beau isn't as perfect as he seems. holly j vs sav for school president, who will end up winning, especially when holly j has anya start a rumor that sav got her pregnant.

good opener to what will probably be one of the best seasons of the show, at least to me. i really liked the entire episode and overall felt it was a quality opener to the new season, the boiling point, overall grade for this episode is an A+, simply a perfect episode, i think somoreless
  • One of the best season opener's ...

    8.5
Season 10 has been one of the most anticipated Degrassi seasons of all times, and this episode shows why. Degrassi is making a comeback, and the show has improved a lot compared to the last few seasons. In this episode along with the rest of season 10, there are multiple plots per episode and the main plot is continued throughout many episodes. Fiona's abuse by Bobby was portrayed great and I really felt like I was in her shoes. The writing was well done, and the acting has seemed to have improved. This was definitely one of the favorite season opener's, and I can't wait to see what the rest of this season holds.moreless
  • Changes... for the better?

    9.0
So after the horrendous season 9 finale movie, did anyone else fall in love with the season 10 premiere? I love the new style, it's fresh. And usually when they have new characters, it usually makes me mad, but now I see Degrassi's purpose. To go on forever... no but seriously: I wasn't annoyed at the new cast members like I usually am. Mr Simpson is principal and he has his students sitting on exercise balls instead of chairs. We got a new teacher replacing Ms Kwan. Dave pursues Alli, that is probably the only flaw with this episode. Stupid JT wannabes... Anyways, Fiona gets herself in a tough situation when her new boyfriend starts hitting her. Holly J finds out that she's moving to an apartment. OH NO! But really what she's upset about is getting her funds lost for college. It's seems like the only thing she's left holding on too is her presidency which Sav wants to take away from her. It's nice seeing Holly J regress back to her mean ways. Because Season 9 Holly J was a snoozefest. She makes a lie saying Anya is pregnant, to steer him away from the election. And it looks like she isn't going to stop there. ALL plots were fresh and amazingly executed. The final scene: Brilliant. Lets hope season 10 is as satisfying as it's premiere!moreless
  • Holly J. finds out her family is moving to an apartment. Sav wants to run against Holly J. for school president. Fiona has a new boyfriend who might not be as nice as he seems. Dave wants to ask out Alli.moreless

I love the season 10 premiere! I love how they are 4 plots going on at once. It was a little slow at first but I love all the different plots introduced. I'll start with the Holly J. plot. I love how the financial storyline. I love that her family has to move to an apartment to save money for Holly J. to go to Yale. I love the Sav storyline. I like how he's kind of loner since all his friends graduated. I'm very interested in the character Drew and it seems like Sav and Drew are going to be friends. I like the Holly J. versus Sav running for school president. Sav is actually a funny guy when he's single. I love how Anya is pregnant. I'm hoping they don't make the same mistake they did with J.T. and Liberty. I love the Fiona storyline. I love all the drama with Bobby being abusive. The scenes where he hits her were so intense. One thing I liked about the Fiona in this episode is that I learned she could be a fashion designer. It's interesting that she mentioned that she saw a therapist for kissing Declan. I love seeing Mr. Simpson as principal. I find it so funny that they people in classrooms get to sit on bouncy balls. The new teacher Miss Oh seems interesting. I enjoyed the Dave plot. It will be interesting to see if Alli will ever go out with him. I like how there's continuation with Conner's Aspergers. Anyways I give this episode a 9/10.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Despite all episodes this season being a part of a two parter, none of them contain "to be continued..." afterwards.

    • With Cassie Steele, Miriam McDonald and Shane Kippel leaving the series Stefan Brogen remains the only original cast member of the show. Not only has he been on since season 1, he was also in the Junior High and High series in the 80's.

    • Starting with this episode,Degrassi drops the freeze frame at the end of the episodes.

    • The show has revamped itself to attract a new audience. Since many of it's viewers have no connection to the original Degrassi series (Junior High and High) the have renamed it "Degrassi" instead of "Degrassi: The Next Generation". The titles of the episodes are also from artists and bands that are more current instead of from the 80's. The only connection this season has from the original series is Stefan Brogren (Mr. Simpson) who was on them. They are also doing it in a more soap opera style with every episode as part of a two parter, and having it on four days a week (for the first half of the season).
