This was a special Christmas episode conceived by Danny Aiello...an episode he said he always wanted to do. It was supposed to air on Thursday, December 18. However, CBS changed it to Tuesday, December 16 after it was already advertised for Thursday. When viewers tuned in on Thursday, they were greeted by 48 Hours, not knowing they had missed the episode on Tuesday. Danny Aiello was so angry about this that he left the show, prompting its cancellation.
