Democracy Now! is a daily news program of news, analysis, and opinion distributed as a streaming video on their website and aired by more than 700 radio, television, satellite and cable TV networks in North America. Democracy Now! is known most for its one hour "War and Peace" report that airs every morning. It is hosted by investigative journalists Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. The program is 100% independently funded. It is financially sustained through independent contributions from listeners, viewrs, and foundations. Democracy Now! does not accept monies from advertisers, corporations or the government. Democracy Now! was founded in 1996 in New York City by journalists Amy Goodman, Juan Gonzalez, Larry Bensky, Salim Muwakkil, and Julie Drizin. The "War and Peace" report is primarily hosted by Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez, with Jeremy Scahill contributing frequently. Democracy Now! is the flagship program of the Pacifica Radio network. The video broadcast of the "War and Peace" report airs on public access cable television, on satellite and on the Internet as both a live stream, archived video and audio only programs.
