with doctor Who off our screens for some time now, this could be just the replacement we have been looking for, this is the first of a total of 6 parts and i am already very intrigued.
yes this storyline to the episode entitled-They Bite doesn't seem to have too much going for it and the plot is more than cheesy, yet there is that chemistry between the 4 leads that made this episode work.
unfortunately it appears to have been made on a slight budget, but this could improve over time,Philip Glenister just makes this episode as the middle aged expert in demonology Rupert.
Christian Cooke(Luke) provides some of the eye candy needed for the episode in a face off with a little chimp like monster (phewey!!)topless(!!!).
Holly Grainger plays Ruby who in my opinion shows a lot of potential as this series goes on and i hope her storyline will develop further rather than just a friend of Lukes, she is a joy...however, Zoe Tapper feels more than just a waste of space here...she is plain and simply uneeded as blind psychic Mina Hooper.
But, Mackenzie Crook is on top form here as the flamboyant (if cheap looking) Thrip the main character villain in this episode that connects this storyline with a great force that we as an audience don't realise he is only on screen for 20 minutes.
his presense will be missed in future episodes, but next weeks villainous looking demonic angels look artistic and fantastically gruesome.
yes, Demons is a far greater show than Primeval and i hope will be picked up for another year.
can't wait until the next installment.moreless
