Dempsey and Makepeace

Makepeace: With the greatest respect lieutenant, there are several flaws in that argument. Dempsey: Believe me sergeant, believe this. [ He taps his nose. ] Believe the nose, the nose knows. I'm telling you.

Makepeace [ discussing their cover as a married couple ]: Somehow, I don't think this is going to work. Dempsey: Why is that? Makepeace: I mean, how can we carry this off if we don't even like each other? Dempsey: Who says we have to like each other? Lots of married couples hate each other's guts. We could be one of them.

Spikings: Sergeant Makepeace would be a good detective to show you around. Dempsey: Suppose we don't get along? Spikings: Oh, I think you'll get along.

Spikings: Where did you get that fancy car you arrived in? Dempsey: I rented it at the airport. Spikings: How long do you intend to keep it? Dempsey: Until O'Grady stops paying for it. Spikings: When will that be, do you think? Dempsey: Depends on how guilty he feels about me. Spikings: I will never feel that guilty, lieutenant. Dempsey: I hope not. Spikings: And I don't accept threats, from anyone! Dempsey: Neither do I. Spikings: Least of all… Yanks!

Spikings: Are you offering me a bloody yank?

Dempsey: What have I got to lose? I'm next on the list, right? If I'm gonna go down, I'm gonna take Coltrane with me! O'Grady: Because you feel bad about Joe? Dempsey: Not as bad as if he had shot me.
