'The Man Who Got A New Face' is an interesting case in several respects.

It starts in full mystery mode - why on earth would anyone go to such trouble for what seems to be a prank of sorts? It also opens with an interesting variation on the usual briefing scene between Stewart Sullivan and Sir Curtis - this is an 'off he books mission' (at least initially), a personal 'favor' Sir Curtis asks of Sullivan, because the deceased was a friend of his - a bit like Ian Fleming's 'For Your Eyes Only', in which M sends Bond on a personal mission because the Havelocks were friends of his. Here, however, once it turns out that the 'prank' was really part of a much larger crime, the mission then becomes an 'official' case (or, as Sullivan puts it, "it's now in the Department proper").

This case offers anything from glamour (provided by the location as well as guest star Alexandra Bastedo) to fatal blackmail, and a few twists and revelations in between. All in all, quite an enjoyable adventure of the Department's, and worth the watch.moreless
