This is a hard show to categorize. The show is about a guy called Derek who is mentally handicapped, living in a retirement home with other, mostly elderly people, who otherwise can't take care of them selves.

It touches your emotions on so many levels, that after each episode you won't know which leg to stand on. This is a type of show you'd never ever see in america because american shows are tailored specifically to draw in as many people as possible, giving them a quick fix of laughter and that's it. This show however is funny and sad and heart warming an life affirming all at the same time. Though it's a comedy, it's so much more than that, and there's an in your face kind of reality to it that makes you stop and really think about life. Don't watch this show just for the comedy because that will disappoint you. Not that it isn't funny but if you expect the usual joke and punchline type of show then this won't be for you. What's funny is the reality of what goes on in this place. Some might be offended because it makes fun of the mentally handicapped and elderly people, but that would be to miss the point of the entire show. Reality is full of funny and sad moments and this show reflects this aspect of life in a way that makes it unforgettable. I highly recommend it.moreless
