CBS (ended 1993)
|I think my favorite episode was the one where Mary Jo's daughter is in the beauty pagent. It has my favorite Julia rant where she tells the Miss Georgia off. |
"And that dear Marjorie, so you will know... and your children will someday know, is the day THE NIGHTS WENT OUT IN GEOR-GIA!"
The best ever!
I haven't seen this show in quite some time (Grrr, Lifetime, for taking away the late night airing!), but I have many fond memories. Some of my favorite episodes are the aforementioned "Reservations for Eight," "Julia Drives over the First Amendment," "Julia and Suzanne's Big Adventure," "Bernice's Sanity Hearing" "The Big Desk," and MANY more! I hope DW comes out on DVD soon, b/c I really miss it!
Julia's son visits with and older woman.
The girls are at Mary Jo's house having a sleep over.
Both episodes when Julia tells of Ray Don and has to keep him from finding out who she is.
The one when they are at Carlene's house spending the night.
Julia doesn't remeber this old classmate that wants to spend time with her before he dies.
Julia gets her head stuck in a banister.
Mary Jo thinks breast can get you power.
Julia is the funniest one to me second would be Mary Jo. I like all the episodes but I love the ones where Julia is the main character.

Same here. The ending was AWESOME.
Too many to chose from
J&S's big adventure
Bernice's Sanity Hearing
Suzanne goes looking for a friend
The Last Humorously Dressed Bellboy in America
The Fur Flies
Getting Married and Eating Dirt
There She Is
I'm just gonna say Season 4, because it's just chocked full of classic episodes... J&S's Big Adventure, Bernice's Sanity Hearing, They Shoot Fat Women, Don't They?, Suzanne Goes Looking for a Friend... and so on and so on....
Man, I love this show... It never gets old to me... The classic episodes are always funny to me no matter how many times I see'em... It's got a major rewatchablity factor to it...
I'll give this some thought, but I'll be hard-pressed to narrow it down to a Top 10 Favorite Episodes list. Growing up in the Atlanta suburbs, my mom and I adored DW and always will. I was 11 when the show debuted and absorbed every hilarious line, which I can recall even now, 22 years later. =)
Off the top of my head, some of the BEST of the BEST-
You Gotta Have Friends- Mary Jo takes a second job at Burger Guy. Julia and the gang end up helping her with the lunch shift and hilarity ensues.
Customer- What about the fish sandwich, is it fresh?
Julia- It's sort of..(pause)...compressed.
Customer looks puzzed.
Julia- Let me put it to you this way. You're in a Burger Guy, it's compressed fish, costs 99 cents and served on a bun- what do you think?
Customer- I dunno?
Julia- YES, it's fresh!
Hilarious dialogue like this is comic genius and simply can't be found anymore. =(
