The character of Mr. Tyson was mentioned in the pilot episode. It was stated there that he had returned some lamps. The reason for the return was that the lamps illuminated the nudes in his paintings in a way that was too titillating.
Mary Jo's house has been changed from the previous episodes. The placement of the fireplace and staircase have changed with the addition of walls separating the foyer and dining room from the living room. Last Season her house had a very open and cottage like appearance. The redesign is not aknowledged until the episode, "There's Some Black People Coming to Dinner".

Also, in this episode Julia says Suzanne gave an eloquent answer to the question "How would you prevent war?" with an answer involving patriotism and diamond tiaras, but in a later episode, Suzanne says she blew the question with an answer involving wanting her own TV show.
In this episode it is mentioned that Julia is 14 years older than Suzanne. However, by the season four episode, "Julia Gets Her Head Stuck in a Fence", that age difference drops to 12 years!
The set in the pilot is different from the set used in the rest of the series. For example, the foyer is deeper and has an entry closet. Also, the inside steps continue around the door rather than ending at the bottom of the staircase. Outside the front door, brick from the side of the house and part of the Sugarbaker's sign is visible. In the seating area, Julia's desk, instead of being in the back next to the staircase, is in the foreground.
Raydon mentions having a sister named Carlene. Charlene then says she has sisters named Darlene, Marlene and Harlene, but does not mention her sister Carlene who takes over her job in the last few seasons.
