One day, in the loveliest of suburbs, housewife and mother Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) decided to take her own life. Now, from her elevated state of point of view, Mary Alice introduces us to the lives of her friends, neighbors andfamily members living in the idyllic Wisteria Lane, a street where the lawns are green, the houses are pretty, the people are nice... and the secrets are deadly.

Her circle of girlfriends on Wisteria Lane includes: Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), an accident-prone hopeless romantic, always on the search of her happy ending; Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), a harried mother who gave up on her successful career to become the full-time carer for her vast offspring; Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross), coined "Martha Stewart-on-steroids", a perfectionist home fairy who strives to uphold an immaculate appearance; and Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria), a former top model turned trophy wife, who must adjust to a slightly more low-key life in the suburbs.

From her unique vantage point, Mary Alice sees more now than she ever did alive, and she's planning to share all the delicious secrets that hide behind every neighbor's closed door in this seemingly perfect American suburb.

Desperate Housewives stars Brenda Strong as Mary Alice Young, Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp, Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis, Ricardo Antonio Chavira as Carlos Solis, James Denton as Mike Delfino, Doug Savant as Tom Scavo, Nicollette Sheridan as Edie Britt (seasons 1-5), Andrea Bowen as Julie Mayer, Kyle MacLachlan as Orson Hodge (seasons 3-6), Kathryn Joosten as Karen McCluskey, Shawn Pyfrom as Andrew Van de Kamp, Madison De La Garza as Juanita Solis (seasons 5-8), Mark Moses as Paul Young (seasons 1-2; 7), Dana Delany as Katherine Mayfair (seasons 4-6), Kevin Rahm as Lee McDermott (seasons 4-8), Tuc Watkins as Bob Hunter (seasons 4-8), and Vanessa Williams as Renee Perry (seasons 7-8).

  • 5 Spin-Offs I'd Totally Watch

Without the spin-off we would've never delighted in the Seattle exploits of Frasier Crane, or the bi-sexual woofiness of Captain Jack Harkness on Torchwood, or eleven seasons of ground-breaking silliness on The Jeffersons. And so here are a few I… read more

  • Saying Goodbye to Desperate Housewives: What'd You Think of the Series Finale?

Well, it's over. After eight seasons (and a shockingly high death rate considering the suburban setting), Desperate Housewives aired its series finale last night, wrapping things up fairy-tale-style with lots of heavily ever afters. read more

...but I think it is one of the better shows that have ever gone on the air. I like the interplay of the characters and all the bizarre situations that keep you wondering what will happen next. I am a fan of the directors work going back many years and I feel that he did a good job with this show. I don't know if I would buy it on DVD, but I do like to watch it whenever possible...moreless
  • Just a few things

    9.0
    "Superb"
One of the best endings to a TV series that I have ever seen. That being said, I don't think that Bree would have gone into politics with all those skeletons in the closet (news reporters being what they are). It was nice that the Scavos and the Delfinos end up together in New York (if I remember correctly, Julie was going to go to school there and Susan would help take care of the baby). That way they can all enjoy the grandchild. I still don't understand why Mike had to die so close to the end of the series. It didn't really serve any purpose. Too sad for Susan.moreless
  • MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOW AND IT ALL ENDS TONIGHT ;)

    "Perfect"
This show gave me so much - laughter, tears, shocks, giggles, joy, sadness, made me angry and disappointed me many times but also took my breath away and made me a proud viewer and a fan. These past 8 years have been a blast and I was always entertained, there no show that could ever replace it.

Desperate Housewives is not just a show or a title of this landmark series ... it's also something very special for me and millions of other fans worldwide. It's these characters, this wonderful cast and crew, storylines, moments, music, Danny Elfman's theme music and most of all - the joy we experienced while watching this show. Thank you Marc Cherry for creating this true hit, you made so many good and so many terrible choices during the show's run but it doesn't matter now.

The show ends tonight and I will always treasure it and remember it as the soundtrack of my early years. Yes, I was only 13 when I started watching, now I'm 20. I grew up with it and invested 8 years into it, I think of these characters as my dear friends from some kind of a different universe ;) and this amazing ride ends tonight. 180 episodes, 8 years, about 90 character deaths, one kickass lawsuit and still dead Mary Alice Young later.moreless
  • Hilarious!

Great acting here! I like their stylish outfits, their multiple personalities, and wittiness! The 'gossip' is always enticing and their outfits seem to draw appeal towards their bubbly personalities as desperation explodes the screen over and over again...
