The episode opens the morning after the riot on Wisteria Lane. The detectives arrive to find out who shot Paul, who is taken to hospital alive. They soon discover that he has a lot of enemies. However, Beth goes to visit her mother Felicia in prison and accuses her of carrying out the shooting. Felicia protests her innocence, pointing out that she wants to prove Paul killed her sister and can't do that if he is dead. Beth is unconvinced but leaves to visit Paul. When she has gone, Felicia bribes a prison warden and gets a cellphone. She calls someone and suggests that the person on the line changed their mind about the proposition she made. She admits that she is thrilled that Paul was shot but adds that she wishes he had waited for her signal. It turns out that she is speaking to Mike, who is sitting in a diner. He claims that he can't talk at the moment and hangs up.
Susan is in hospital after being trampled in the riot. She is shocked to discover that one of her kidneys ruptured and was removed. The doctor tells her that her other kidney is deformed and is only operating at about 5%. He adds that if it drops any lower she could have renal failure and suggests dialysis while she waits for a kidney transplant. Susan is shocked by the news. Later, Mike comes to visit Susan in hospital and promises that they will get through this. Susan reveals that she has decided not to do the dialysis and is researching herbal remedies and alternative diets. Mike is concerned but reluctantly agrees to support her. A while later, Mike brings MJ to see Susan and goes to take a phone call downstairs. MJ begins asking Susan if she could die and Susan, realising that he is scared, offers to take him to get some ice cream from the cafeteria. The nurse warns that she shouldn't get out of bed, but Susan insists that she has to for MJ's sake. As they walk, J begins chatting about ice cream but Susan starts to feel unwell and holds onto the wall. Eventually, she collapses and has a seizure as MJ screams. The doctor arrives to treat her and later, when she is recovering, Lynette, Bree and Gabrielle come to see her. Susan explains that she is going to have dialysis but could have to wait three to five years for a new kidney. She asks them to help Mike with MJ if something happens to her. Bree and Gabrielle insist that she will be fine, but Lynette promises that they will be there.
Elsewhere in the episode, Gabrielle takes Juanita to buy a doll in an attempt to win her over after Juanita's discovery about Grace. Juanita is still angry but, when she sees the doll, brightens up. Gabrielle is thrilled and gets out her phone to take a photo of Juanita and the doll, but sees a picture of Grace on her phone. Juanita sees her looking at the picture and asks why she is doing so. Gabrielle claims that she must have scrolled too far but Juanita is furious and storms out. Later, Gabrielle and Carlos take Juanita to therapy and Carlos admits that he blames Gabrielle for the situation. The pair go in to speak to the therapist, who explains that they need to get rid of every trace of Grace from their house and their lives. She says that once Juanita feels she is the most important thing in their life she will start to heal. Gaby is reluctant to remove all the photos but Carlos insists that they will do whatever it takes. However, back at the house he is furious to find that Gabrielle still has some photos of Grace. He complains that she is not taking this seriously and Gabrielle points out that the therapist never said they had to throw everything out. Carlos says that they have to pretend that Grace no longer exists. He complains that Juanita is no longer a happy little girl because Gaby didn't protect her and says he never wants to hear Grace's name mentioned in their house again. Later, the pair throw a birthday party for Juanita and Gaby watches on sadly. One of the mothers meets Gaby's other daughter Celia, and asks if she has any other children. Gaby claims that she doesn't but looks sad. She goes to visit the doll shop again and buys a doll for herself which looks very similar to Grace. She cradles it in her arms.
Meanwhile, Renee goes to visit Susan in hospital and offers her a kidney, but Susan explains that she has decided not to tell Lynette about Renee sleeping with Tom. Renee is relieved but Susan tells her that she should tell Lynette herself. Later, Tom discovers Renee standing outside and is relieved that Susan isn't going to say anything. However, Renee admits that she is worried that if she never tells Lynette what happened, then their friendship isn't real. She adds that Lynette stayed friends with her through everything and she owes her the truth. Tom begs her not to say anything and points out that Lynette would be devastated. Later, Renee and Lynette take a potential client to lunch and win her business. The woman is impressed by their friendship, but Renee begins to appear upset. When Lynette brings her some of her favourite oatmeal and raisin cookies, she starts to cry. Lynette ushers the client out of the restaurant, promising to call next week. When the customer has left, Renee eventually confesses that she slept with Tom. Lynette is shocked and realises that they were engaged at the time. Renee explains that they had broken up for the week. Lynette storms out but realises that Renee drove her. In the car, she admits that she hates Renee at the moment but could hate her less in the future. She explains that the worst part is that Tom and Renee have known this for 20 years while she hasn't. Lynette asks Renee not to tell Tom that they talked about this, but refuses to say why. Later, Tom arrives home from work and complains that he had the worst day ever. Lynette reveals that she and Renee won the contract and Tom is thrilled. Lynette claims that Renee did most of the work and describes her as an "amazing woman". Tom doesn't respond and Lynette offers him some hot chocolate. She claims that it might be a little cold and asks if he wants her to heat it up. He tells her that it is fine but, when he takes a gulp, he spits it out because it is boiling hot. He complains that he has burnt his tongue and Lynette apologises, but smiles as she turns away.
Elsewhere, Bree starts unpacking Keith's things as he replants the garden following the riot. He comes in and Bree admits that she is thrilled he is moving in. The doorbell rings and, when Bree answers, she discovers Orson waiting for her. He explains that his girlfriend Judy kicked him out and asks if he can stay. Inside, he admits that he didn't know Keith was moving in and says he can find somewhere else, but Bree insists that he can stay with him. Keith looks unhappy but agrees. He goes to take a shower and Orson suggests that Bree is taking her rebound relationship too seriously. She insists that Keith isn't a rebound and claims that they have a lot in common. She adds that she has changed since being with him. Orson claims that she was already perfect and touches her cheek as Keith watches. Later, Bree serves coq au vin for dinner and Keith is disappointed as he was expecting sloppy joes. The meal becomes more and more awkward until eventually Keith throws some food at Orson. Bree is shocked but Orson suggests that they can put it behind them and asks for the peas. However, when Bree passes them to him he flicks some at Keith. Eventually, Orson and Keith end up having a full-on food fight. Bree storms out and, later, goes to visit Orson's ex Judy. She asks if Orson could stay with her because it is too difficult having him at home with Keith. Judy reveals that Orson left her because he is still in love with Bree. Bree goes home and Keith apologises for the food fight, adding that he knows Bree's relationship with Orson is platonic. She admits that Orson is still in love with her and Keith is furious, announcing that he doesn't want Orson to stay another night. Bree goes to speak to Orson and explains that although a part of her will always love him, their relationship is over. Orson is unconvinced that she has changed and insists that he won't give up. After speaking to him, Bree finds Keith and explains that she is going to let Orson stay a little longer because he is so fragile at the moment. Keith angrily storms out of the house, yelling that Bree is still in love with Orson. However, Bree pushes Keith into a pile of manure and climbs on top of him. She explains that Orson is who she was, not who she is now. She adds that she has never worked harder in her life to keep a relationship going and if she has to sit in a pile of manure to prove it, she will. Keith laughs and the pair kiss as Orson watches from the porch.
Meanwhile, the detectives visit Paul in hospital and admit that although almost all his neighbours have motives for shooting him, all of them have alibis. They explain that they want to speak to Beth but Paul refuses, explaining that she is the only person in Wisteria Lane that he can trust. The detectives agree not to question her and ask if there is anyone else that might harbour a grudge against Paul. He admits that he can't think of anyone. Asked the same question, Beth looks uncomfortable but insists that she can't think of anyone either. As they leave, the detectives agree that they saw the look on Beth's face. Elsewhere, Mike goes to visit Felicia in prison and insists that he had nothing to do with shooting Paul. He explains that he decided not to take Felicia up on her offer. Felicia wonders who did shoot Paul if Mike wasn't the culprit. Back at the hospital, the detectives return to see Paul again and explain that Paul didn't mention his mother-in-law when he was asked about enemies. They reveal that they checked up on Beth and discovered Felicia was her mother. Paul appears shocked but pretends that he knew and explains that he and Felicia have solved their issues with love and prayer. The detectives promise to keep in touch and Paul thanks them for not bringing up Felicia in front of Beth. "Her mother is something we never really discuss," he says.
