  • Felicty Huffman rules!

WOW - could this possibly be the best ever episode of Desperate Housewives?

the way the episode unfolded was well done. From Bree's conversation with Carolyn to the hostage situation to Lynette's hospitalisation. Some good fine comedy in this episode too: Gabby and Carlos' squabbling reaches new heights - Carlos with a chainsaw and Gabby's tape recording were highlights

But its Lynette that rules this episode. her faceoff with Carolyn was powerful and Nora's death was shocking. Felicty Huffman is a great actress and should deserve the credit for this episode - the other credit should go to the shows producers for making a shocking and hardhitting episode!

Everyone's lives on Wisteria Lane are forever changed when Carolyn Bigsby holds shoppers hostage at a local supermarket. Meanwhile, Gabrielle and Carlos finish dividing their assets: Gabrielle gets the house, and Carlos gets everything in it. Susan is preparing to go to Paris with Ian. I loved this episode! It was so great! I remember waiting for it since like September 2006, then it finally came on November 5, 2006. That day made history. This episode was so well done. =] I already knew that Nora was going to die though, and that Lynette would get shot. I just love how everything played out, though. 10/10, definitely. DH never fails to impress.

"Desperate Housewives" delivers the November Sweeps in spades with this episode. Death, drama, adventure, comedy, and more sets the bar too high for competition to reach at this point.

Laurie Metcalf reprises her role as Carolyn Bigsby, and may I say that her acting in this role is absolutely amazing! Plus, the line about the "sunday school class" is deliciously wicked! Props to Joe Keenan for this amazing episode. It keeps you glued to your set even more than the usual episode. Great job to the writers, Marc Cherry, and the talent that keep "Desperate Housewives" one of the top shows on television!
  • this was the hostage episode that made all the other tv shows do hostage episodes, just waite untill they start compying the tornado episode

this episode was so amazing, i can't even conieve how an episode can be put together in a way this was, but don't get me wrong even masterpieces have thier glitches, bree's part was mostly small, and only featured in the begining, but i guess she was the cuase of the whole thing. Gabby, and Carloses fight was amazingly entertaining, and done good enough. of course Susan is there to add comedy relief to a very dramatic episode. though her storyline was random, and not that good for character development; her little "model hostage" diddy was hilariose, adn again well put together. of course we get to the climax, where Felicity Huffman shows off her acting skills. i had figured Nora would die, but i didn't know i'd care so much. usually when someone dies on tv i'm not that affected, but there was something about hers that made me sad. Felicity's acting was great. this really was the first in the slew of hostage episodes on telivision(Dirt, Cold Case). i can see why they wanted to mimic it this was great telivision, adn obviosly the best desperate housewives episode so far. i don't know how any show can do better
  • A very remarkable episode, One we should all watch.

    10
    "Perfect"
The reason I give this episode a 10 is not only because of storyline and acting quality, but also because of the message of this episode and the lesson it has to show. With the opening dream sequence we see how a person can be tormented by not acting when they know they should've acted. And in the shooting scene in the supermarket we see how very much we only have each other in this world to depend on because no matter how much we try to think so, we cannot fix all our own problems, we cannot save ourselves every time. Allot of people in the world believe in the philosophy that we can all pull ourselves up and that we can all take care of ourselves, situations like this happen all the time and show us that was cannot do everything alone. Whats truly sad is that if something like this episode happened, the news would only cover the sensational parts, nothing would be said of a person laying down their life for someone they didn't even like. The problem in life is that when we learn to accept the worst natures in humanity, we also learn to expect it and to look for it and somewhere along the way we stop being able to tell the difference.

The dream scene at the end is a wonderful and very true scene, so often in life we go around thinking we can control what happens when we can't and when we could do something to change things we don't. The world would be a much better place if we all treated each other with compassion.

"Give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, and the courage to change the things I can."
  • Too bad she only winged Lynette

    9.2
    "Superb"
I watched the promo from last week and hoped that Lynette would be killed because she is the biggest shrew on the show and the most annoying. I was truly disappointed when the ditsy slut got shot instead of her. Mostly this episode was predictable all the way down to Edie being called a whore and her being in the manager's office making the wife more enraged. Teri Hatcher looks great in every show now, wow is she hot. The Eva Longoria/Carlos plot line is even more boring, why didn't she just call the cops when he started destroying the walls? He could have went to jail instantly for that and the divorce agreement would be amended even though that agreement was idiotic. No judge would award her zero alimony and only the house but none of the possessions. That Bree has become a big mouth that in most neighborhoods she'd be known as a blabber mouth shrew but these people in her neighborhood all gather at her house for snacks while they watch a gunman standoff on her TV. One big plot hole, the police knew it was a lone gunman, they knew who it was and what she looked like yet every time you see her standing, you can see the light and the outside. Snipers would have taken her down after she fired the first shot at the escaping clerk. They would have tried to negotiate but the fact that she'd shot at an innocent clerk means they would have took her down with a sniper. Another plot hole, she had a gun and couldn't get through the lock?????? I was hoping she'd shoot her scumbag husband and take out She-man Edie while she was in there. I'll miss annoying ditsy slut girl, she would have been better for dimwit Tom than that belittling sanctimonious emasculating shrew hound Lynette.
  • Wow only A show like this can make a hostage situation rather amusing. you just couldn't believe how she shot people so reclessly

Ok, this is one hell of fantastic episode mainly because it was unbeliveable in sense no where you could seen it coming and writers did something they knew would get a reaction which was Nora death, this character has been the most annoying and lyneete now has to feel guilty that she died because of her. if only she kept her mouth shut.

Now gabby and carlos-This was slighly more amusing it was so funny and i just couldn't stop laughing-the way Gabby smashed the glasses than carlos using hammer to punch the fountation was Hilrious if not unbelievable. This season these two have become my favourite couple in the season.

Susan is just as annoying and bree well she was to blame for this whole situation. Well it's not her fault that she would know what would happen. There's partial blame but not competely.
  • Caroline holds inoccent hostages inside a market as payback to her husband\'s infedelity.

    "Superb"
I absolutly LOVE this episode. They made this whole situation, which is something that is usually portrade as a tense thing, is played out as a comedic situation. This episode made me laugh so much. I loved it! I got so sad when Lynette and Julie were in there and Susan was trying to trade herself for her daughter. I thought it was so funny how Edie was heard over the load speaker in the market and Caroline took it that she was another one of her husband\'s lovers. When Caroline shot Nora, that shocked me so much. That was the first moment that Lynette and Nora really conected. And then whe she shot Lynette, I almost peed my pants bacause I was so nerrvous for her. I hope she is going to be alright. Bree feels so awful about the whole thing. And the other thing that I loved about this episode was the fight between Carlos and Gabby. And, what was up with that dream Lynette kept having. Oh God, I\'m watching the commercials for next week\'s episode and it doesn\'t show anything about Lynette. I hope she\'s fine.

what a KICKASS episode. I was watching it with my whole family and had to stop myself from crying out loud. My father watched it for the first time and had been told it was a comedy, but I guess not. The episode had me on the edge of my seat. I didn\'t like the final scene, though. Lynette\'s voice was really weird. The scene with her and Nora was awesome, though. I didn\'t know whether to laugh or cry. Nora who keeps calling her \"a stupid **** and \"I haven\'t got all day!\" :D All in all, I can\'t stop repeating myself: what a KICKASS episode.

    Okay people...let's be honest.

Season 1 of desperate housewives was good.

Season 2 of desperate housewives was crap [ compared to 1].

Season 3 of desperate housewives is REALLY fixing the crap.

    So far...Season 3 is AWESOME...waaay better than season 1.

The episodes leading up to this one, were AWESOME. I have loved EVERY MINUTE of each episode.

    This episode...it just...I just..umm..its just...I AM STILL AWE-STRICK. 2 hours after the show..I CANNOT believe WHAT HAPPENED.

I don't want to write about what happened to avoid spoilers but DO watch....you will see this show is SOO GOOD.

  • Those that blindly like Bree, come and disagree with me all you want. Bring it all on! It is 100% Bree's fault, that twisted woman.

    "Perfect"
Well, I've never liked Bree to begin with. I've always thought she was a terrible mother and a twisted woman. She cares about her own image to the point where she just makes people want to strangle her. She did it again in this episode! I totally saw it coming. How could Carolyn know about Monique? It's gotta be Bree, who just loves to make other people suffer so she could feel better about herself. Nora's death is all her fault. Lynette's wound is all her fault. People that like Bree are going to disagree with me, and I'm not afraid. Bring it on! I am expecting to see tons of "how many users disagree". Haha! It's really sad how Julie has hots for a trashy guy like Austin. Many smart women still want jerks, I've come to notice. Lynette's my role model. I admire her to the MAX. I have learned so much from Lynette, even though she's only a ficitonal character. Poor house, I must say, after Gabby and Carlos wreck it bad. It was beautiful, but now, it certainly needs lots of remodelling!
  • Best episode ever!

I think this was the BEST episode of Desperate Housewives ever. It was so amazing. We got to see Mary-Alice. We always hear her, but we never get to see her. I was happy to see her in this episode. I wish we can see more of her. I thought it was kind of funny when Edie was overheard on the loud speaker. I feel bad for Brie, because she blames herself for what happened. One of my favorite scenes was when Lynette was yelling at Carolyn after Nora had been shot. Nora was dying her character had a character development. She knew she had been wrong about trying to steal Tom a way from Lynette. As much as I disliked her, I have to admit I did tear up when she died. I got chills at the end. I can’t wait to see what happens next week.
  • AMAZING... SIMPLY AMAZING!

Excellent Episode, we knew Nora was going to be killed cause they had to take her off the show soon, she was too annoying, I hated her lol, It\\\'s sad for Keyle though, I didn\\\'t know lynette was going to get shot, that was a shocker, good move by the new neighbor who ever he is, let\\\'s hope he is good. I loved it when Julie hugged Edie\\\'s nephew (forgot his name, btw he is hot). i was begging for the commercials to be over so i could keep on watching what was going to happen. it was great! i give it a Perfect 10!, But I found inconsistency with the story, at the begining of the season Mrs. Bigsby was working at a bank, and at this episode she is rich and doesn't work? stories must be the same.

Overall, this was a good episode, but not a great one. I didn't like how they made the script somewhat 'comedic'. I really wanted it to be dark and exciting, but it really pulled it off towards the end. Gabrielle and Carlos were really on left feild tonight. Their storyline kind of annoyed me, particuarlly Gabrielle's little monolouge about her becoming bitter and hateful. Um, Gabrielle, you've always been bitter. Of course, the people who died in this episode was no shock. I had predicted it from the start of the season. I really appreciated seeing Mary Alice again tonight. Everything Lynette rocked tonight! Felicity was amazing, and I was really impressed with everything that happened. Her arguement with Carolyn was amazing, and very tense. Overall, I wasn't too impressed. The shock factor saved me from giving this episode a rather poor grade, but nevertheless I enjoyed it.
  • Like an episode of "24", but with heart.

    "Superb"
Astonishing acting by all concerned, especially Laurie Metcalf and Felicity Huffman. The seamless editing, the clever interlocking of the timelines and depiction of action from many different perspectives, all add to the unbearable tension of the second half hour. The shocking and unexpectedly touching death of what has to be one of the show\'s most annoying characters has the effect of completely redeeming the whole irritating story arc started in the Finale of Season Two. Brilliantly plotted, brilliantly written, brilliantly acted and brilliantly directed. Add to this the lack of extraneous subplots and the service of every character to the devastating climax of the episode, and one can only say that Desperate Housewives is back, in SPADES.
  • Words cannot describe how amazing this episode was!

So we all went into the show knowing that there would be a hostage and someone would die. But the episode started in Desperate Housewive top comedy form and ended in quite possibly the most beautiful, bittersweet moment in DH history.

Last week, when Lynette kicked down Nora's door and confronted her, I kinda guessed that would be the climax of her story. I thought Nora was the most annoying person ever, but I'm still shocked (but not surprised) that she died. I am interested in seeing how Kayla will fit into the Scavo family.

The divorce of Gabrielle and Carlos went top-notch funny with her throwing the glasswares and him hammering holes into the wall. And then Gaby holding a bat and answering the door and saying that the TV was out, and you see Carlos with the chainsaw! Hilarious. As much as I want the hilarity to continue, I am still very moved that they decided to stop being so mean to each other.

Yeah sure, blame it on Bree, but seriously, that husband of her is one tricky bastard. He knew if he told her, she would eventually tell Carolyn, and Carolyn would go crazy and perhaps shoot her husband, and thus take one danger off his list.

I love love LOVE Susan trying to trade herself in as a hostage to get her daughter out while speaking on the megaphone!

And the thing that really got me was the ending. Beautifully acted, beautifully captured, beautiful words. I think if Felicity Huffman wants to win more awards, this is the episode to submit.

I am more than happy that Desperate Housewives has been so superb this season. It might outrank Grey's Anatomy at the moment.

Wow, what an episode!! Two people dead?! I was NOT expecting that at all! I gasped so loudly when Nora was shot that you’ve thought there was a madwoman in MY house or something! There have been some shockers on DH before, but I think this one tops them all. Kudos to the writers for an awesome episode! Talk about November sweeps :D.

Ok, the rest of the show - I really liked the “Earlier that day…” style. The OC recently did it, and it’s a really creative and interesting way to convey the story. I loved Julie and Austin in the store, it was really sweet. But he’s quite the…well I think you can finish that line. It’s all his fault the two of them got stuck in there anyway :P And Bree…you gotta love her, only she can make a hostage taking into a social affair.

So now I guess Kayla’s going to be part of the Scavo family. I wonder how Lynette will be around her? It will be interesting to see. Also I hope this wasn’t just a one time thing, and the aftermath will be a part of the show. It won’t be that good if it turns out the hostage thing was just to kill off Nora. We’ll see… Ooh almost forgot – I love how this episode was sort of ‘Lynette central’, with the dreams. She deserves to have a really good storyline :)

Treated with humor and pathos, a couple of story arcs are dispensed in an elegant, dramatic and effective fashion. Laurie Metcalf gives an Emmy worthy performance - unfortunately, I believe she submitted a different episode for consideration - nomination, but no win. The ensemble acting of casts in different locations is priceless. In the supermarket, the work approaches Dog Day Afternoon in the transitions from comedy to tragedy. The reactions of those outside the supermarket is equally affecting. This is nearly a stand-alone episode that I watch over and over. Huffman and Sheridan are particularly effective, though why Huffman would submit this as her Emmy episode for her work in a comedy is beyond me!
  • Great, exciting, Suspenceful, all the things i look for in a Desperate Housewives episode and this one sure pulled that out of the bag, truly an amazing episode and so exciting.

This episode made me feel happy, sad and excited, i was laughing so much at Carlos and Gabby's fight when they destory Gabby's house, that was entertainment, and when Carolyn held everyone hostage including Lynette, Nora, Julie, Autin and Edie i felt like an amazing episode was gonna unravel and it sure did!

When Nora was killed i felt so sorry for her and Kayla but when Lynette stood up to Carolyn i could tell she was gonna get shot and seriously hurt, i didn't expect the woman who shot Carolyn to be the one who stopped her but atleast she saved everyone, When Lynette's sons asked where she was i really felt it tug on my heart as i seriously get caught up in the emotion of each episode.

This episode was the best episode of Desperate Housewives' third season. It was so cleverly written. I especially loved when Nora and Carolyn die. Desperate Housewives is very creative with November Sweeps. Nora's death was very creative and well plotted. She was a funny character. Bang was a really entertaining episode to watch. The best one yet. But now I guess it's going to be hard to find out what really happened to Alma. Carolyn was also a funny, entertaining character. This episode was even better than the pilot. The script was well written, funny, and very entertaining when acted out. I also like when Lynnette steps up to Carolyn and gets shot. Once again, this is Marc Cherry at his finest.

This episode was very exciting, when i watched it for the first time i was blown away because i never new desperate housewives could get this intense. Felicity Huffman acted very well in it, i think her and Marcia Cross should be given Golden Globes for their work in desperate housewives. Recently i watched Somethings Coming which people think is another "Bang" episode but in my opinion Bang was better just because it was much more fresh and the action continued all through the episode instead of just the last 10 minutes. Overall Bang was excellent and is the best episode of DH to date.
  • The best episode of desperate housewives to date!

This was amazing. THE best episode of desperate housewives to date. It just shows how brilliant this show is, it showed the drama and sadness in this episode perfectly but still managed to add humour throughout. The star in my view had to be Lynette, this is the episode when she really started to shine. Her emotions were just great, her anger, her sadness were just done so well. For the first time ever I was generally shocked at a death, when caroline shot Nora my jaw dropped and again this was so well written. I loved how it started with us knowing there would be a shooting but we had no idea who the hostages were. And then everything started to fall into place, when each person entered the shop I just thought how well done it was. A truly amazing episode of desperate housewives!!
  • The episodes events follow the title, Bang!

After reading all of the buzz about this episode before it originally aired, I was very excited. I read that some characters were to die and there were numerous rumours floating around that, because Edie, Julie, Austin and Lynette were to be hostages there was a possibility of it being one (or more) of them to die.

The idea of a hostage situation in a grocery store really intrigued me. It was original and so well written and although I've now seen this episode countless times, it still has me on the edge of my seat and lets me shed a tear in the final scenes when the families are reunited.

Lynette (Felicity Huffman) was fantastic in this episode, probably her best performance in the series so far but with such a cracking storyline, it didn't surprise me that she got into it as well as she did. To be completely honest, all the cast were superb and I can't fault a single one them and, in my opinion, Laurie Metcalf (Carolyn Bigsby) stood out with her brilliant performance too.

Bang! is, in my opinion, the best episode of Desperate Housewives so far and it will be interesting to see if it can be topped (Something's Coming came close).

The perfect plot for this show, truly a women very desperate takes a supermarket hostage. This episode had what every episode needs, it will go down into the top ten episodes of the series. The Episode has the comedy, the shock and a beautifully done musical montage that would leave even the most strongest of man in tears. When you see Lynette yell at the hostage taker, you cheer and then set in suspense on what will happen to her, live or die, you don't know for sure. This episode keeps you on the edge of your seat till the final Bang...
  • Lives are changed in this episode.

    9.8
    "Superb"
Lives are changed in this episode. Some for better but many for worse. Carolyn holds hostages in the local supermarket after a conversation with Bree in which she learns her husband has been having an affair. Caroyln's husband owns the supermarket and he is trapped in his office with Edie. Lynette and Nora are among the hostages. Nora is shot and killed when Carolyn learns she tried to seduce Lynette's husband, Tom. Its a traumatising experience for Lynette, and for Tom who is outside wondering whether or not his wife has been shot. It was sad to see Nora and Lynette making ammends before Nora died, with Lynette agreeing to look after Nora and Tom's daughter, Kayla. New neighbour, Art is also being held hostage. He emerges as the hero of the day by saving Lynettes life.

Julie and Austen who normally can't stand each other find comfort in each other in the store, which was a special moment. Susan's grief at Julie being inside was so realistic and emotional, bravo to Teri Hatcher during this episode.

Bree is guilt ridden as she watches updates on the TV about the hostage situation, realising it is her fault because she told Carolyn about her husband's affair. Gabrielle and Carlos put their differences aside as well in this episode with them fearing the worst for their friends.

Overall, it was a fantastic episode that kept me on the edge of my seat. Who would be shot? Who would die? How would this event impact the lives of the housewives?
  • Without a doubt - Best episode of the series so far.

This episode explains why I think "Desperate Housewives" is the best show on TV today. The best episode of the entire series so far - The storyline was written wonderfully and the acting by all cast members was insperational.

I vow down to Felicity Huffman - Definitly one of her best performances on TV. This episode stirs up so much emotions and drama and is also able to make you laugh throughout - And that's exactly the reason why I started watching the show from the first place and didn't give up on it - even when everyone else said it has lost it's touch.

  • This is the best episode of DH ever!!!

    10
    "Perfect"
Now, this is something that every single fan of DH was waiting for so long. Bang is the best episode so far, including first season episodes.

The whole trouble starts when Bree decides to make her final move, and ruin Carolyne's life, like Carolyne tried to do to her. Harvey cheated Carolyne with Monique (French stewardess), and now that Monique's dead, he mourns for her, while Carolyne tries to help him. But, when Bree reveals to Carolyne true about Monique, Carolyne's of to get her vengeance, and after she fails to kill Harvey, Carolyne decides to take whole store hostage, and make Harvey go out from his office, where he's hiding, along with Eddie Britt. Also held hostages are Lynette, Nora, Julie and Austin, and new neighbor, Art.

This episode is so tense and in a way morbid. Nora's and Carolyne's death are perfectly realistic, and everything is done so believable. Felicity's acting is superb, and Lynette gets much deserved spotlight in this episode. Also, Mary Alice appears, and we haven't seen her for a while now. (Jeez, she's so tall :)).
  • Loads of dramatic moments as Carolyn Bigsby holds hostages at gunpoint at the local store.

I love this episode - it is so moving and I cried the first time I saw it even though I knew what was going to happen. I jumped when Nora was shot - it was such a shock. The ending was so sad when Lynette came out on the stretcher and Tom ran over - that's my favourite part. I also love the way that everyone gathers round to watch the events on TV - it gives a real community feel and you can see that everyone in the neighbourhood cares about the others from their street. I also love it when Aida Greenburg walks in to the party and syas to her friend "I told you she would have food" - I loved that bit. Overall a great episode with some really moving moments.....
  • The groserystore (i don't believe this is right) is taken over by the wife of the store-manager and Nora, Lynette, Julie, Edie are all inside. Meanwhile Tom and Susan are outside and Bree etc & Gabrielle are following the whole thing on tv.

I was blown away by this episode, who ever thought that this could happen. Of course anything can happen on Desperate Housewives, but still. And OK I wanted Nora to go away but this....And the thing between Julie and that nephew and the entire neighbourhood on the couch at Bree's it was so amazing and of course beautiful, but above all it was also nerve-recking (is this right?)! I think that this one will stay with every-one forever and ever. I am still shocked by this episode, and an hour has past, I think you get the point; By far the most mind-blowing ep ever!
