Being alive was a absolutly fantastic and emotinal episode of desperate housewives which has really got me excited for whats next in store. This episode handled with the aftermath of julie being attacked which made this episode really intense and dramtic. Susans storyline was by far the best this week teri hatchers acted as a concerned mother was brilliant,I really dont think that Teri gets enough praise for her dramtic acting on this show her seen were lynette opened up to her about her babies was a really emotinal scene between both of the women. Gabbys storyline was prettty good to i like how she to is getting involved with the mystery Brees storyline was the most dispointing but im not a fan of the whole affair storyline anyway sooo. Katherine continues to be a bit crazy which was pretty funny the scenes with her and Orson really made me laugh. The mystery storline was really juicey this week and im hopeing more exciting stuff will araise from this family. and finally the last and mayber best part of this episode was karen and roy the teaser opening with these two chracters was really funny and the ending of this episode was really exciting as we are promised wost days to come cant wait!!
  • A fantastic follow up to a strong season premiere.

I have to agree with what others have said before. Desperate Housewives has always had the same format of having a new family/character with a dark secret. But I think this season is a little different and goes back to the Season 1 style. At the end of the first episode of Season 1, we were completely clueless. At the end of the episode last week, we were left completely clueless as to where this family will be heading. Whereas in Season 2, we KNEW someone was in the basement, in the Season 3 premiere, we knew it was based on a murder, in Season 4 we were told Dylan 'was not the same girl', and in Season 5 we knew Dave was there for revenge. But nothing has been hinted as to what this family are hiding. I was a little sceptical last week after the premiere but this episode made me think this will be a hell of a good season.

It's already episode 2 and there is SO much going on. Susan seems to have a bunch of storylines all of a sudden that aren't solely based on her needing a man or being clumsy. She had a daughter in hospital and was decieved by three other housewives - Lynette's knowledge of Julie's possible pregnancy, Bree sleeping with her ex husband and Katherine chasing her current. Susan was actually fantastic in this episode. It was nice to have her emotions centred around Julie as opposed to a new man in her life. Speaking of refreshing changes to characters, I have to say I love the rebellious side of Bree, and how she is making new discoveries about herself and her sexuality etc. And on the other side of the coin, there's Karl, the character who's always been cocky and arrogant, who showed for the first time in my opinion, GENUINE sensitivity. A new direction for Katherine also this season, but for the better. I really disliked the sassy Season 4 Katherine being turned into this frumpy, needy woman in Season 5. This season seems to be a culmination of her character in previous two. She is desperate for Mike, but instead of just being needy about it, she's manipulating and acting like a bit of a Glen Close. I like it!

Although I was a bit sceptical about Lynette's storyline, I actually didn't mind it in this episode. I liked how she couldn't bring herself to say abortion but skirted around the issue of not having children, and I loved the scene between her and Susan in the hospital.

I also love the fact that Lee, Bob, Julie and Mrs McClusky are all involved. It means we can have so many different things going on without getting bored.

The only stigma I have at the minute is that they don't seem to be establishing the age of Julie. She's been and gone to college and was getting married last year, so shouldn't she be about 23/24? But instead they're still describing her as a kid who's possibly been seeing the teenager Danny.
  • Surprisingly Emotional follow up

A very emotional episode. But first the funny bits, and there were quite a few laughes mixed in.

Katherine is going nuts! Her strange behaviour is very funny - her cool attitude is starting to crack and her talk with Orson was very funny and revealing

Karen McCluskey is getting naughty... its so nice to see her happy for a change. And its nice to see her dirty laundry for a change. Very entertaining.

But the sadness is strong - seeing Julie's body lying on the floor and Susan cradling her was rather shocking to see and the sad talk between her and Lynette (who reveals she is pregnant to a distressed Susan) was nice. Teri Hatcher proves she can act strong when she wants to. Hope Julie gets better.

Oh and new neighbours are getting weirder. Full stop.
  • So, has The Ballad of Mike, Susan and the Mayfair improved any this week? Does the Pope listen to 50 Cent?

So, has The Ballad of Mike, Susan and the Mayfair improved any this week? Does the Pope listen to 50 Cent? Of course it bloody hasn't. If anything, it's managed to get progressively worse, as now it's mired in the ratings-grabbing, admittedly mildly interesting Julie strangulation story. Katherine comes on to Mike while he's returning home to get some things for Julie, basically degrading herself by throwing her wiles all over his oh-so-masculine frame. And just to make matters worse, we get a delightful scene between she and Orson in which she claims Mike wants her back! How are we supposed to react to this? Laugh at its absurdity? Pity her complete loss of sensible perception? Worry that she's flying off the rails? Feel annoyed that she's getting in the way of Susan and Mike's happiness? All of the above? I honestly don't know... but whatever the answer is, the whole thing is so damn cringeworthy that it's hard to feel anything other than irritation.

On the plus side, at least this narrative strand doesn't feature too heavily in the episode. Instead, we get some fairly interesting intrigue on the part of the Larry Moss family to sink our teeth into, which obviously means plenty Danny, which is absolutely fine by me (shirtless! Shirtless! Now!), the chance to see elderly super-stud Roy for the first time, which is adorably sweet, further progression in Lynette's pregnancy story that continues to impress - it's a stroke of genius to have her reveal Julie's scare in the hospital, completely out of the blue, which makes it all the more believable - although the way in which the abortion angle is swept under the rug after a few scenes is somewhat disappointing, and, of course, there's Bree and Karl's ever-burgeoning relationship, which comes to a temporary halt in the wake of Julie's attack. This strand adds an interesting dimension to the story, bringing Susan's feelings on the matter of a friend sleeping with Karl into the equation, as well as giving Richard Burgi a chance to show an emotional side of Karl that hasn't really been touched on before. It works very well and further strengthens the backbone of the plot, disguising the fact that, at first, it all seems rather absurd.

Generally, this is a fairly good episode that nudges the separate strands forward and compounds the intrigue inherent in the season's arc plot. Now if we can just get rid of the triangle from hell, things will be back on track.
  • Barring 70 year old's making love, this was just about perfect

So ok, Andrea Bowen is still there to annoy us for one more season. Though not a favorable outcome, we do get a glimpse of the mystery that will keep us occupied this season. Also, Katherine's obsession to break Mike and Susan apart, seems like another story in the offing.

After Fox's animation domination debacle, this did provide the much needed entertainment. Bree and Gaby provided the comedy, Susan and Lynette the drama, and Katherine provided some crazy lady action. The men also complemented the ladies pretty well. The mystery is starting to buildup. We clearly know, it wasn't Danny Bolen. And at the same time the Bolens display the same creepiness the the Applewhites displayed. If I may bet, I would say it's Preston or Porter - whichever kid is still in Wisteria Lane. Final word, one good hour of TV.

After a less than stellar season premiere, Desperate Housewives returned to its infamous scandalous form with a nice episode that jumped around in time from scene to scene and hit its stride with both comedy and drama and mystery, the three genres Marc Cherry and crew have perfected over the past five years. While Karen and Roy having an intimate relationship is a bit low-brow for my liking, the majority of the other storylines right now are clicking. The young adults on Wisteria Lane (Ana and Julie) are just as intriguing as the principle cast, something I did not think the show could do, but of course Gaby and Bree are as entertaining as ever.

The only big complaint I can make about this season is that the creepy neighbors arc has been done to death on this show. Hopefully something unique happens with them, but I can't help but get a been there, done that vibe, from the new trio of castmembers.
  • Good Episode

Firstly, I'm not fond of these stereotypical jersey people that moved in and are some sort of mysterious element. Most of this episode was really good, I didn't like the crazy Dana Delaney who still looks amazing for her age and I still think the chick that plays Julie is weird looking. The premise of her tutoring the younger dude is a bit odd. Why would she tutor? It's 6 years later now, She's 24 and if she's still in college then she has a Masters degree, why would she bother with a guy that is also trying to date a 16 year old? I really dislike the Lynette character as I always have but I think the writers are trying to make it interesting with her being pregnant and skirting around the abortion issue. The best story they could do with this is for her to continue hating the babies growing inside her and then finding out late term that she has to abort them because they are deformed or dead already and then add the drama of her guilt and sense of loss. The red head and the lawyer dude is a odd pairing and I like it, i think redhead has held up pretty good for her age as well, she sure looks hotter than the broad from the Sopranos that moved in. The 16 year old niece of Carlos is weird looking too, do they purposely get weird looking girls for this show so the old broads look better? Anyway, I miss the blonde chick that died off last season, she was smoking hot for an old broad
  • BEST EPISODE IN A LOOONG TIME!

This season proves to be one of the best, it is even better than season 5 for sure. The reason I am surprised is because Eddie is not in it and I thought it would be no good without her.

I was sooo wrong. I luved the ending narration it really moved me and the slow motion added to the build up. Two housewives are now at war!!!!!!

Scene: The scene which touched me the most was when Bree and Karl were both sitting together in the hospital room and he is begging Bree to come to meet him. It shows how much he loves her, and she hesitates until she sees Mike and Susan and realizes she doesn't want to be alone.

    Season 6 keep on commin!!!!!!!!!

This was a very solid episode of Desperate Housewives. The centerpiece was Susan, of course, whose daughter Julie had just been strangled. Teri Hatcher puts in some fantastic work here, as the distressed mother, and Karl is also very good. I was impressed at how well the writers were able to show his concern and place a temporary wedge in the affair with Bree. I think the best scene of the episode is the one where Susan believes that no skank would go after Karl and that THAT would be an even worse offense that stealing Mike! Lol.

Speaking of stealing Mike, Katherine has begun her play at getting him back. What's creepy about Dana Delany's work, is how casual she is about it- she believes Mike and Sue won't last, and has already started making passes at him. Kathrine really is disturbed...and I kinda love it. Glad to see Orson get some nice stuff here, and I loved the line about him having no ear for innuendo at all!

In the wake of the dark event, The men prod the new neighbors for information, and Ana tries to defend the boy next door, who is suspect #1. This character still isn't very likable (she has no redeemable qualities) so it's a good thing Gaby is bringing all the laughs. Nice humorous scene falling off the side of the house.

Here's a character I didn't think I'd be talking about: Mrs. McClusky. She has a love interest this season, and there's just something about old people romance that's very sweet. It's nice they've been giving her more to do in the last few seasons. The guy has a nice sense of humor, too and should bring alot to the show.

Overall, I liked this episode. Not laugh out loud hilarious or terribly eventful, but at least we know Julie will be okay. I liked the way a lot of things were handled (Lee and Bob watching MJ) and Lynette, once again, get's the best scene of the show, where she shares her pregger feelings with Susan- who I thought really shined tonight.
  • Susan discovers a secret Lynette's been keeping from her, Bree fears her affair might come out, Gaby finds out Ana's been lying to her, Katherine shares her thoughts, Angie tries to protect her son and Mrs. McCluskey's on to something... again

As I predicted, this episode was a huge improvement on the season premiere and it felt like it was back on it's first seasons' quality.

Although the intro and outro with Mrs. McCluskey felt a bit awkward, I guess this was just because it's strange to see McCluskey in the spotlights and with really her own storyline. But from what I've seen, the pairing with her new beau is going to be great. It was hilarious to see her hoping Roy would say what she wanted to hear.

Susan's first scene was the best she's had in years: you could really feel - for the first time - she had a family, and wasn't just a whiny woman looking for love. The rest of her storyline was ok, but I didn't like the whole revelation about Julie being pregnant. It felt too soapy and it would've been better if they included the mentioned scene between Julie and Lynette in the previous episode. And they better let Julie wake up next episode, because the coma thing is getting used too much these days.

I loved how Lynette kept talking about abortion, without the guts to say it. It's good she's over it now, so they can move on to another part of the storyline, but I hope they won't drop the idea from now on. And finally, Tom's mid-life crisis isn't shown that much anymore.

Bree's storyline was good. It was more emotional than last week and although Julie opening her eyes was a cliché, it provided a nice conversation between Bree and Susan and Karl showing his softer side.

Gaby was hilarious, as always, but the scene where she crawls up the ladder is an instant classic. Also a nice mention of the last time the handyman passed by (episode 5x12). And I can't wait to see Gaby going head to head with Angie again.

With that, we're with the mystery family. Although there's zero mention of the mystery, the new family did what they had to do: creat suspense and bring drama to the Lane. Danny's a great character and Nick grew on me this time, although you can tell Angie's still the boss in this household. I loved how Mary Alice called her a housewife at the end, leaving her the possibility to stay on the Lane after the season's ended. Drea de Matteo had the first chance to show of her acting skills and she did wonderfully. The scene with the men interrogating Nick was hilarious and the final scene after Gaby talked to Angie was wonderful. It really gave me the mystery vibe I haven't felt since season 3 anymore.

Cleverly written, tied in nicely with past episodes and facts and as the ending hinted, more dark times are ahead on Wisteria Lane.
  • The residents of Wisteria Lane are horrified by the recent attack on Julie's life; Lynette shares a secret with Susan; Katherine begins her quest to get Mike back; The Bolens try to cover for their son, who is accused of strangling Julie.

    "Superb"
The second episode of the sixth season (I still can't believe it's been 6 years!) was a great follow-up to a promising premiere. It's a dramatically heavy episode, with a little more attention given to the Bolens, whose son may or may not have tried to strangle Julie. I like that I DON'T know what this new family is up to. Unlike last season's mystery, which I was able to see coming from the get-go, I can honestly say I have no idea what this family is hiding, and the whole situation with Danny is still somewhat unclear.

I'm also enjoying each of the other stories this season. Karl seems to be falling for Bree, and Bree begins to realize what their relationship might do to Susan. I think it's great to see a different side to Bree this season. And it's also great to have Karl around, as he was always a fun character.

The "new" Katherine is lots of fun. I can't wait to see how far she'll go to win Mike back. The highlight of this episode, for me, was a scene between Susan and Lynette in the hospital. Lynette comes clean to Susan about her pregnancy, and it's just really, really beautiful. Both actresses deserve awards for their performances here. One more thing before I wrap up this essay - how great is it to see Karen McCluskey with a boyfriend?

All in all, I'm extremely thrilled with these first two episodes, and can't wait to see where it's all going to go.
  • Susan, Mrs. McCluskey, and Gabrielle hesitantly shun Angie after growing suspicions concern everyone about the assault, Katherine and Orson maintain an unlikely friendship, and Julie awakens to see Bree kissing Karl, only to fall back in a coma again.

Top-notch episode. Comedy and drama were sustainably balanced. Anxious to see more of Season 6.

THE BOLENS/MYSTERY: Man is this mystery all over the place! I don't think Danny was the one who commited the crime, but I'm anxious to see where the alibi will go. A+

SUSAN/LYNETTE: Is this the first time we've seen the two ever clash before? Ok, they may not have 'clashed', but it's the first we've ever seen these two butt heads. Although, after they made up in the hospital cafeteria, Lynette found a confidant in Susan and revealed her pregnancy--excluding the fact that she neglected to tell Susan that she was having twins. A-

BREE: And now she finally is concerned about Susan's opinion to her wrongdoings with Karl? Wow. I'm surprised as to how dumb Bree was kissing Karl in front of Julie. And she wakes up. Poor Bree. B-

GABRIELLE: Clever of her to test the talice to see if it was climable, and she fell with it! HAHA. Nice to see Gabrielle getting involved with the mystery. A+

Anxious to see more of Season 6 as things have rapidly begun to heat up.
