LOTS OF GOOD: Lynette makes up with bree in a strong way. Edie has a great storyline. Anytime Edie gets a main plotline, it is a good day. Susan rocks.

LOT OF BAD: Gabby and Carlos as parents = not cool/rediculous story Bree has some moments that really make you want season one bree back. The end montoge, really was wimpy compared to most others in season 2.

    *****

All in all i was a good episode, and had nice light moments. Sadly, the carlos and gabby scenes hapenned and killed the show. Why the writers never gave the couple time to just be a couple, i will never know. it would be fun just to see them bee a couple, without random storylines in the way.
  • El final de la emancipación de Andrew.

    9.1
    "Superb"
  • it was hilarious watching bree loose control and tear off a man's shirt; our very own bree!the doctor should get over the hurt already he looks pathetic. seriuosly i think i like karl and susan together they look so cute!

    9.3
    "Superb"
felicia should get over martha death, for crying out loud she didnt even like her when she was alive; whats with the whole crusade to immortalise her. she should kill paul young herself if it pains her so much. oh and andrew ahould be thrown into a juve detention and the key thrown away. i realy prefer bree uptight, this new drunk out of control bree may not be doing it for me.
  • A good episode as usual, but far from the intrigue-filled show that it was! Bring back the mystery!

    10
    "Perfect"
What happened?! A good episode, but it's losing steam! We need some intrigue and *gasp* moments! Where are the Applewhites?! Where is the mystery?! Where is the Desperate Housewives I so loved?!

This episode was a good episode as it stands, but this one (like so many before it) neglects to include any of the mystery which was the shows trademark. This episode did include many interesting storylines and furthered the characters somewhat, but we need more! The whole point in Desperate Housewives was not only the fantastic characters, but the mystery in which they find themselves, which now seems gone.

And even these fantastic characters seem to have undergone an overhaul. They are still very amusing to watch and can tug at the heart-strings when they want to, but I want to see them doing what they do best, and that is working together. For the majority of this season so far, they have been very much on their own and after the moment mid-season when they all started to suspect Betty and become investigative again, it has simmered back down to nothingness again. After the excellent scene with Bree and Betty silently declaring war on each other, Bree seems to have forgotten about it all. Granted, she has a few other pressing issues on her mind at the moment, but I still feel it should be referenced at least.

The character of Betty and her family as a whole, were the whole intrigue of this second season, and they seem to have been wasted. Not only has the mystery of Caleb been pretty much revealed, but they havent even been in the show for ages. Not properly anyway. Their storylines could be so interesting and there are hints in every scene they are in, of potential explosive developments, but they just dont seem to come. It may be that they will start to come to the fore in the next few episodes in the build up to the season finale, but I cant help feeling that even then it will be too late.

The thing I loved about last season was that you had the on-going mystery, but every now and again you would have an episode or two that didnt necessarily add much to the mystery, but added depth to the characters, and these were a welcome change as it really gave the show emotion and a relatability. Now however, the oppisite is true and these episodes are the main body of season two and seem over-used and hollow. Every now and again there will be one episode that will hit me and almost make up for the rest of the season\'s short-comings, but these are a rare occurrence.

The characters also seem to be coming apart at the seems in addition to the story. For example, in this episode when Bree apologises to Lynette, Lynette is very off with her and it just didnt seem like her. Bree as a character has completely changed and not in the natural character development way. She has taken a complete 180 degree turn from likeable, anal-retentive housewife, to being a completely 2-dimensional character. She is still likeable, but it just seems sad that her character has taken this turn for the worst. It really is proof that the girls work so much better when together. It\'s almost as if they have drifted apart somewhat. This season has been very much about their individual lives, whereas season one had a happy balance of both their lives together and apart.

It really does seem like a different show this year and is almost turning into a soap of sorts. I guess the state of the show as it is just now, isnt exactly bad, and it is still quality TV, it is just that in comparison to what it has been in the past, and what I know it still can be, it has really come down somewhat in my opinion and I truly hope that it can regain what it had and be the show that I loved.

Gabrielle (re Libby going into labour): “This is a total inconvenience”

    Lynette: “Welcome to parenthood”.

Actually what Lynette probably should’ve said was welcome to a lot more obstacles into getting a child as the Solis’ attempts of becoming parents is looking more and more ill fated by the minute.

It’s bad enough that Libby is forcing them to buy her expensive gifts that she doesn’t appreciate or can even use but it also seems I was right and the little wench knew all along the father of her unborn child is as we meet the dim witted Frank, who comes up with the best reason why him and Libby shouldn’t be parents – so they can mess up their child. These two morons are enough to make Carlos and Gabrielle look good and that’s saying something.

Of course, then we have Libby pulling another stunt by telling Frank that he isn’t the father to her child, to which he isn’t convinced but the Solis’ are and that means we have another obstacle to deal after Libby prematurely gives birth to a baby girl.

As much as I admit an enjoyment of Gabrielle and Carlos getting their just deserts in a way, I was actually touched to see Gaby bond with her adopted daughter and show some naturalistic maternal streak when her and Carlos fled the hospital with the baby in tow. The spanner in the works came to Libby admitting to Frank that his brother Dale is the father after the idiot tried to set himself on fire. I had to laugh as Gabby was the one who knew how to adjust a baby seat in the car but her and Carlos’ new family looks set to be a short one, thanks to Libby’s inability to tell the truth and general promiscuity.

Speaking of general promiscuity on top of being a recovering alcoholic, it seems that Peter has another addictive vice – sex! Nope, I’m being serious and to prove it, he transfers Bree to Donna in order to keep control of his attraction to the repressed homemaker. Bree’s pairing with Donna is certainly fun as Donna is a little stricter than Peter but despite a brilliant guest actress in the role, Bree seems to do a classic transference and when Peter rejects her advances, she retaliates by getting blind drunk.

Bree certainly knows how to pick them. From an S&M loving husband, to a sex doll loving pharmacist and now just a plain sex addict she definitely finds them. However while Peter may have two serious addictions, at least he’s trying to stay clean on both sides of the spectrum. Surely this should be enough to endear him to audiences and if not, you have to at least admit that he’s an improvement on George?

Elsewhere Bree’s problems continue to mount up for her as Lynette is then forced into giving evidence against her thanks to Andrew and his lawyer. It also coincides with both women making amends over the babysitting incident a couple of weeks ago, although they do briefly quarrel when Lynette tells Bree what her deposition will be.

As much as Lynette is a good friend, you can’t blame her for having doubts over Bree and it was nice to see that area of conflict between them. Although she knew Andrew was lying, especially after she picked his brain over a car her company is trying sell, it wasn’t until Gabrielle drew an obvious and accurate enough comparison between her and Andrew that Lynette ended up siding with Bree fully and ended up saving her bacon as well. So I now assume that Andrew’s plot to get his trust fund has blown up in his face all because Lynette’s deposition may Bree look good? If so, I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in being happy over Andrew getting his.

And I’m certainly not alone in being happy that Edie finally found out Susan and Karl’s sham marriage, thanks to a rather non vocal Dr Ron. Given the fact that both Susan and Karl have screwed over Edie one too many a time, I think both of them got off lightly. I mean that vase didn’t even hit them a little.

Sadly though, even being forced into a meaningless marriage to Edie isn’t enough to stop Karl from making the moves on Susan and he does that in style at their engagement party and although she appeared taken aback by it, I’m still getting the nasty feeling that Susan is tempted to reciprocate.

She didn’t exactly fight him off when he was kissing her and even Julie seems freaked out by her parents suddenly getting along. I feel bad for Edie but at the same time I wished she’d wake up and smell the coffee. If Karl can marry Susan without telling her, then that should be enough off an alarm bell for anyone to realise that their relationship is doomed.

If those machinations aren’t enough, then in the absence of the Applewhites (do the writers actually care about this plot at all?), the gloves are certainly off between Felicia and Paul and boy, does isn’t she determined to make him suffer? To be honest, I’m sure why she even cares about the fact her wretched sister was killed by him, given how much she allegedly hated Martha Huber, which she told Edie in “Move On”. Talk about hypocrisy!

But seeing as she no longer has Mike under her thumb and her plan with Noah didn’t go the way she wanted, she wastes no time after giving Edie a disturbing gift at her engagement party in announcing to everyone within hearing distance what Paul did to her sister. Of course nobody believed and given that she gave Edie Martha’s dentures, it’s not hard to see why.

Felicia is playing with fire in a big way and more than likely, it’ll be her who will get more burned than Paul will. Both Mike and Noah are playing it cool in how they deal with Paul, mainly for Zach’s sake and although Felicia may have nothing except her life to lose, she’d want to follow their example in case Paul feels strangle happy again.

    Also in “Everybody Says Don’t”

Housewife of the week: Bree inviting Peter over to watch a DVD, order takeout and playing cards to curb her addiction.

Peter (to Bree): “The slightest touch gets my juices flowing”.

Peter’s has a Plant/Pet/Person way of overcoming his addiction to sex but given that he’s on his fourth plant, Bree may have to wait it out for the time being.

Mike (re anger to Paul): “Maybe I have”

    Felicia: “I haven’t”.

Minor bits: Libby’s lap dance club is called Temptation, she’s been stealing tips from one of her friends and Frank grows his own pot shed.

Stripper: “You want a lap dance”

    Carlos: “Uh, no thanks”.

Frank: “You screwed a bunch of cowboys?”

Libby: “You got your hobbies, I got mine”.

I really liked Bree’s other counsellor Donna, although despite her protestations, I did get a small lesbian vibe off her.

Susan (to Karl, re Edie): “Exactly how ugly is this going to get?”

Susan’s wheelchair is now replaced with a cane (very House of her). Also Karl could’ve done some serious damage to her when he threw her over the bed so Edie wouldn’t see her.

Lynette (re Andrew): “No you don’t. In fact I hate liars”.

How come Danielle wasn’t asked any questions in regards to Bree and Andrew’s relationship by the lawyer?

Bree (to bartender): “I’d like to get steaming drunk. Do you think you have anything that would accomplish that in a hurry?”

No Tom, Zach, Danielle or Applewhites this week.

Gabrielle (re Frank): “He’s gonna light himself with coffee liquor?”

Carlos: “Wouldn’t have been my choice”.

Chronology: Three weeks since “Could I Leave You”, maybe a little more.

“Everybody Says Don’t” is an unusually titled episode, given that it’s subject matter seems to be very vocal about people giving into their desires – Karl with Susan, Gaby with a child, Bree with alcohol and wanting to with Peter. This was one hour where temptation and not logic prevailed.

  • Finally, its back to its proper standards!

    "Perfect"
Oh my god! This episode was by far one of the best episodes of the season! Every storyline was entertaining and made me beg for more!!! Lets start with my favourite story from the episode, gaby and her baby! Obviously the mother child bond has already formed causing her to take desperate measures to keep the baby!!! Now she has really come to see what motherhood is really about! Lynette sees through andrew and testifies for bree lying to protect her friend! Susans storylines have finally become funny again! Maybe thats because edie became involved!!!!! And lets not forget the war between felicia and paulm surprisingly i seem to be siding with paul!!! For an episode without the appelwhites it really surprised me!!! Keep this standard up!!!
  • One of my favorite episodes

This was one of my favorite episodes of the season, I loved the gabby and carlos plot and I hope they get to keep the baby, although they probably won\'t. But my favorite plot of the episode was the karl, susan and edie one. I couldn\'t stop laughing when susan got flung over the bed in a desperate attempt to hide from edie. And Edie throwing the vase was very classic Edie. I agree with one of the earlier posts, I definitly expected edie to find out about their marriage, but I definitely didn\'t expect Dr. Ron to be the one who tolf her.
  • Loved it, the best of the season

Every housewive had an important role in this! That's why I loved it!

I loved how Lynette said: I hate liars! The actor who plays Andrew is superb! I love the fued, I really do! :p

I love Mary Alice's voice-over! Always the same tone, always a funny sharp comment. Suppah!

Mrs. Tillman! You gotta love her! :)

And EDIEEEEE! :) I was 'LOL'ing when she said: "Oh, you're so sweet! Thank you so much for your good wished!" And then that face of her!! Marvelous!
  • Not the best episode…but was needed for future plot lines!!!

Bree really starts to connect with her sponsor who is helping her stay sober. But then she rally really starts to connect with him when she starts to fall for him, and kisses him. To her surprise her sponsor is not only a recovering alcoholic but also a recovering sex addict. So Bree’s sponsor switches with another person who is a hard nosed woman. Bree starts to really miss her sponsor and so gets “Stinking Drunk” so that he would come get her…and her plan works. Also Bree apologizes to Lynette for what had happened earlier and tells her about the situation with her and her son, Andrew, and how Lynette has to speak with Andrew’s lawyer. So Lynette thinks that Bree has only apologized so that Lynette would only side with her in court, so she tries to find out the truth. Bree had told her that Andrew wants his money so that he may buy a car, so Lynette brings home a brand new car from her work and asks Andrew his opinion. To her relief she realizes the Bree was right and that Andrew is only interested in the car. Meanwhile Dr. Ron tells Edie truth and she is furious with Karl, and Susan. Also, Karl confesses to Susan that he is still in love with her. Lastly, Gabrielle and Carlos finally get a baby but they have to run away from the hospital when the babies father runs shows up…this will indeed lead to a better next few episodes.
  • It could have been beter

    7.1
    "Good"
During this episode they deal with Bree and her alchohalism, Lynette and her new job, Gabrielle and her baby, and Susan's fake marraige. Andrew files for an emancipation from his mother due to her being drunk and "beating" him. Lynette needs to testify for Bree, who she is not so sure that Bree did'nt beat her son. She and Gabrielle trick Andrew into proving to them that he is lying about his mother. Gabrielle and Carlos adopt their baby (or more like steal) and eveyone is happy. Bree wants her old sponser Peter who is a sex-adict so she can not have him. More happens, but not much more important things.
  • Wow, this was awful! Jenna, please resign and stop ruining Desperate Housewives.

    7.5
    "Good"
This episode was just plain terrible. I didn't have much faith in it to begin with, I mean, Jenna Bans wrote it, so there's that for you. It even begun lame- sex addicts anonymous? Oh puh-lease. That's not even funny, or realistic. Gabby's storyline was alright, Susan's was lame, Lynette and Bree's was ok, the only scene I actually liked was when she testified for Bree in the court room. Although it was somewhat unrealistic, It was the only thing saving the episode from being named the worst one.

The last 4 episodes had better kick ass, or Desperate Housewives is just going to be desperate to stay on television.
  • Enjoyed it, I did!

    9.4
    "Superb"
I just saw TransAmerica so I am totally lovin Felicity Huffman right now. It is the best storyline they have offered for her character since I could remember...mainly because it really shows the strong bond that these women have for each other. I loved how Lynette looked when she's telling the lie and looking at the kid who told an even worse lie. Bree's expression was also needed to bring to the very strong scene even better.

I was amazed that I actually cared for a storyline from Susan (cause usually I don't care for her storyline), but she and her (ex)husband has pretty great chemistry. Edie being in the middle of it all is always funny and interesting.

Perhaps the most outrageous of the story is Gabrielle and Carlos. it's ridiculous to 'steal' a baby, but I feel for them (not that I have any experience in having a baby cause I'm only in college) but I think that Gabby and Carlos deserves a baby, even if it's not in a conventional manner.

  • I'm not so desperate to watch like I used to be.

    8.3
    "Great"
I'm watching the show simply because I like to start what I finish, but the show is not as great as it once was. I mean the Applewhite storyline is one big disappointment, and they are making Susan simply look silly. How did the Susan's ex doctor boyfriend figure out Eddie is Susan's ex-husband new man? Andrew is on my last nerves. Now Gabby and Carlos have taken to kidnapping babies? I hope this gets better.
  • Where are they going with this show?

    8.5
    "Great"
I really adore this show, it has to be the number one show that I watch BUT where's it all going? Susan is drifting towards the wrong guy even though I have to admit I like Richard Burgi's character Karl. He's funny and charming and a great asset to the show, but he and Edie so belong together! Gabi and Carlos have just become so desperate which I do understand but to take off with the baby?? Mike was in this episode for a total of 1 minute or so.. not enough and I hope they will get rid of Dr. Ron, hes annoying. And at last Bree and Lynette.... I like the fact that Bree has a new man in her life who has issues of his own and he seems good for her in many ways (I'm hoping he takes down Andrew that little...!) Also glad to see Lynette and Bree patch things up of sorts. This was not one of the best eps in my book. I love the whole Susan/Karl/Edie drama, but that's about it for this episode.
  • Alot of twists in this one...

    8.8
    "Great"
To get rid of one addiction , is to replace it with another!

favorite quote: Hey! Whats for lunch? Omlets! You want me to make you one? No thank you, i'll just pick on yours!

    Temptations have consequences.

Edie has discovered the connection between suzan and karl. BUT... in this episode we can see that karl still has feelings for susan, now thats a twist i wasnt awaiting! Was he with edie only for sex?? That even makes it worst then it was, if we consider that he left susan because he had sex with his secretary, plus now his having it with edie, AND wants to come back to susan, so i think he's totaly messed up, or the story just doesnt fit.

    Andrew got nailed.

We didnt even see the applewhites again, sigh.
  • This episode was great!! I especially loved Bree's sex addicted sponsor!!

    9.2
    "Superb"
This episode was a good episode!! I really liked Bree's storyline this week- especially her making out with her sponsor on the table. I hate that after so many days of sobriety she blew it all to get drunk, but it's TV. Lynnette's little stunt that she pulled with Andrew to see what he really wanted was quite funny, and I'm so glad that she sort of kind of but not really lied to protect Bree, who really is a good person!

Gabby's and Carlos' baby is so cute- I'm so glad to really see the motherly side of Gabrielle finally come out!! It's sad that they now know that the baby has a father, and that they risk losing the baby again, but I really hope that doesn't happen to them. They finally seem to be a happy family now!!

Haha Susan and Karl!! That storyline was so funny!! It's been kind of obvious lately that Karl is not completely over Susan, but he definately took it kind of far tonight. If Edie had found out about what they did in the bedroom, she would have been far from happy! It was so funny when Susan was running towards Karl on the street with her cane waved in the air!!

Overall, great episode of DH- in my opinion, one of the best ones of late!! This is kind of short, as I don't have much time to write, but I may add more later!
  • Libby has Gabby and Carlos\'s baby. Bree has difficulites with her sponsor. Lynette must give Bree a court deposition. The Susan/Karl/Edie smackdown begins.

    8.8
    "Great"
This was quite the interesting episode. I loved how Edie finally got the screen time her character deserves, but the whole Susan & Karl storyline is a little bit weird, though I loved the punishment scene.| Andrew is slowly losing his \"power\" over his mother, after losing the information on the Lynette babysitting fiasco, though it does show that she\'s okay now with Bree and so we can now know that their won\'t be major drama in that apartment. | I\'m pretty interested in finding out what will happen with Bree and her sponsor, Peter. It was sort of sad, but overall a pretty realistic plotline. | We all know that Gabby and Carlos stealing the baby will not end good, as the previews showed they were in court over it. But Gabby is already showing her motherly instincts with the car seat. I can not wait to see how this pans out.

    | = separation between different storylines.
  • Great episode.

    10
    "Perfect"
Yay!!Gabby and Carlos finally got their baby, and she's a total cutie.Come on even Gabriella has to admit that. The Susan/Edie/Carl triangle was at it's absolute best tonight. When Edie threw the vase at them, classic Edie.I love watching her and Susan at each other's throats.Peter is just the man for Bree,so she better shape up or she's gonna lose him too.
  • The Edie/Karl/Susan smackdown happens, Bree finds a fun way of dealing and Gabby and Carlos replay Raising Arizona.

    8.6
    "Great"
Surprised Gabby and Carlos found out so soon about the stripper's boyfriend status but I greatly enjoyed the fun they had with the baby. I do know stealing the baby won't end well but do look forward to them as parents.

I knew Edie would find out but having it be by Ron was unexpected. I loved the reactions of Karl and Susan during it as Edie finally went off as we knew she would and her "punishment" promised fun too. Still not crazy about the entire "Karl pursuing Susan" plotline but it does seem funny.

Interesting how Felicia is able to call everyone on failing to see the obvious with Paul as a killer. As always, she makes every scene hilarious and I look forward to more of the same.

The Lynette/Bree stuff was interesting, showing once again the great friendship the two have. Lynette managing to figure out ANdrew was a delight and Bree's plot with her sponser was not only funny but also showed Bree's secret fear of being alone. I greatly look forward to them together.

So a fun episode all around with several secrets brought to life. Of course, there's more hidden which makes this show such a delight.
