    *gasp* I'm surrounded by Dana-haters!

Yeah, Eva plays herself. It's obvious. I've seen snippets from when she was on that other soap and she was pretty much the same then too.

i actually think dana delany is a great actress - at least, on DH. never watched body of proof, but that show looks terrible to me.

felicity is a good at comedy and drama (and she can cry really well), but she whines sometimes and it's annoying. teri is definitely the best actress out of all of them - she has great comedic timing, and she crys good as well. marcia just whispers the whole damn time now; has anyone else noticed that? and eva's great at comedy, but she can't cry or do drama well - the only scene that was dramatic that she did really good was in 2x20, when baby lily was taken away, but even then it was a bit whiny.

and i'm so glad someone else noticed andrea bowen's head/shoulder shaking thing. it was so annoying - i don't think she's done it this season though, thank god.

i didn't think neal mcdonough was that bad of an actor - he played creepy and mentally unbalanced pretty good, i think.

Neal McDonough plays Dave on almost every damn show he appears on, so in my eyes that makes him a bad actor

You know who I think is a bad actor? Mark Moses. I remember the particular scene that made me realize it was when he hugged Susan after agreeing to let her have Beth's kidney and he "cried". Worst screen cry ever. EVER.

Well, not his best moment. While Moses is no Harriet Harris or Alfre Woodard (!!) I think he is certainly better than Mr. McDonough.

Neal could not deliver a single line well. Everything felt forced and fake. If it was indeed not an exercise on making Dave (the character) the bad actor, then he is the worst seasonal regular this show has ever featured. At least Drea could deliver a funny line here and there, and the younger ones (like Jesse and Maiara) were mostly young eye candy anyway, never having much to do, thus they never really made roll my eyes.

I suppose Marcia does talk more... quietly lately. Don't think I've noticed it much, though. Doesn't bother me, clearly.

Also, anyone agree with me that Doug Savant is the best of the male cast? And Tuc Watkins is a bad actor. He rarely appears and does anything worthwhile, but when he does I cringe. It started for me in 7.07 and hasn't stopped since with almost every appearance of his. He's a middle-aged Mason Vale Cotton.

Ok, so we all agree on Teri and Alfre being great, Andrea being better, Felicity and Marcia being pretty good, and Eva being herself. Dana's caught in between. What else?

I feel like Nicollette is a great actress. I've seen several things she's done aside from DH and she's different in all of them.

You just reminded me a very funny dinner scene from 6.13 where Angie says that while Ana will be filming porn, Danny can make the dialogue rhymeLaughing this one always gets me out loud!! Damn, Maiara Walsh was hotTongue outthey were a good-looking couple indeed.

And I totally agree about Doug Savant being the best male actor. I was discussing it with my mom the other day and we both agreed that Doug is the best because he can easily make me laugh, his delivery is top notch perfect, but as easily as he can make me smile he can make me angry or he can be scary a little bit when he is mad like in 7.17. He is also amazing when he is talking about serious stuff and you can see that he cares os much like in 6.01 when Lynette thought she did not love the unborn twins. And he is amazing in awkward/weird situations like this last one in 8.18. His portrayal is so flawless that I believe he was waiting for Lynette to take him back, but when she stopped giving him signals, he agreed to invite Jane to move in with him (maybe they got closer in Paris and London, trips are great for couples) and he thought that was it, but only a couple of weeks later he finds out his wife is still interested and would still like to be with him. Great actor - I remember him on Melrose Place where he played a very nice gay guy and one episode of this really old cop show "In the Heat of the Night" and he played such a bastardic killer there, so creepy. He should act more, recently guest starred on "Hot in Cleveland" - but the show is a badly written sitcom so he pretty much played himself and I 100% agree with you on Tuc Watkins, but i noticed it in season 4 or 5 and I used to point it out a lot on the old desperatefans.org/forum and I was so shocked and disappointed when he became a regular two years ago, I was scared they would give him more scenes lol

FYI, what do you think of Nicollette's acting? Many people criticize her on IMDb boards Innocent

You are nice to say thatTongue outI think she always tries being different and loves playing different roles and much more complicated, when she was young they would always put her in tight bikini and play a vixenish blonde. She was being typecast because of her character on Knots Landing - Paige was a high-powered young woman in love with a man who was almost twice her age. Knots Landing is the main problem her career tanked in the 90s, casting directors were only aware of her beauty & looks and sexy body, but she loves comedy and tried to do it. Her sitcom pilot was not picked up in 1993 so she took 6-month break in acting, but they have sort of forgotten about her and it was harder for Nic to get into business again. She did some great comedies and I love her TV movies - particularly those from mid-late 90s. She played such different and strong women in hard life-changing situations. I was very pissed in 2008 when she got that Razzie Nomination for The Cleaner. It was unfair, the movie was horrible and she and Lucy Liu were the only good things about it. I am still very sad that she has not worked since last September and admits having trouble finding suitable roles after Desperate Housewives.

I really wish she hadn't decided to sue Marc Cherry because it's going to be very hard from now on for her to find roles. She should have just went on with her career and not caused such a big stink. I would have loved for her to have been on another show.

I think people need to look no further than 5.18 to see that Nicollette is great. I think I've said this before, here on TV.com, and I'll say it again, as maddening as Edie's death was to all of us, her parting was the best acting Nicollette did on the whole show. She was just so convincing. Part of me wonders if she put all her bts anger/sadness into that scene. She was always great and funny as sexy, scheming Edie, but her part was ultimately not that challenging in the first 2 seasons. Then season 3 came, and she stepped up after Marcia left and did a great job, I kinda loved having her as one of the leads. Too bad her role was tamed down again for season 4.

But you mean people actually criticize her acting? Or her personality/behavior? Cos the latter is one thing, but to say Nicollette is a bad actress is just silly. Honestly, I think her delivery of funny, bitchy one-liners was better than Vanessa's. Like I said, the way she always gets loud at the end got a bit annoying for me after the season 7 premiere.

Kyle MacLachlan was always pretty great to me but he kind of... bugged me in 8.15, when Bree discovered the truth. It's like all of a sudden he wasn't that great actor anymore. Mark Moses was also kind of awkward as Paul in season 7, and honestly, so was Emily Bergl, though I loved her like crazy in that role nevertheless. Beth was my favorite new character in season 7, more so than Renee, although the latter has grown far more on me in season 8.

Previously unmentioned actors who never made me roll my eyes: Richard Burgi; Mehcad Brooks; Roger Bart; Josh Henderson (unchallenged); Madison De La Garza; Jeffrey Nordling; Kevin Rahm... I think that's it. Jonathan Cake and Charles Mesure are touch-and-go. And it took me some getting used to Lyndsy Fonseca and Beau Mirchoff, but ultimately they're both fine young actors in my view. Danny was just too peculiar at first, but that was the character anyway, and with Lyndsy it was mostly her voice. When I saw her promo pics, I thought that beautiful face would go along with a different voice. I also have a problem with Andrea Parker's voice, when she's being nice and sympathetic she still has a bad woman's voice.

I wanna give kudos to a rarely appreciated guest star: Josh Zuckerman as Eddie the strangler. Some great work. He even had snot coming out of his nose.

It's a real waste, too, considering her talent. She can do both comedy and drama very well. And apparently, she can even sing, right? I never heard her singing, but I read she performed a duet with Michael Bolton years ago when there was talks of a musical episode of DH, and of all the leads who could maybe carry a tune.

They criticize her acting and they usually confuse her charcater's personality with her's. They think she is a shallow bitchInnocenttrying to look sexy all the time. If they did some research they would find out that Nicollette feels the most comfortable being in her sweats and flip-flops playing with her dog. She said many times that she is not glamorous and never tried to be.

Josh Zuckerman was a truly great guest star.

Andrea Parker's voice is quite manly 'cause she used to be a chain smoker for about 15 years.

BTW, I just noticed something about this episode ... Gaby never finished high school (we knew she ran away from Las Colinas to NYC when she was 15) and during Carlos' confession in 8.01 she said to that young new reverend that she made out with a chick in college. Writers ... !Money mouth

She is very afraid to sing in public and freaked out when she discovered she could be heard little bit during the bar karaoke scene in 1.11 Embarassed btw here you go / Second Time Around - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wgza3ODGTlI

doug savant is definitely the best male actor on the show. he really is underrated.

josh zuckerman was really great actor.

nicollette's a good actress, but now no one's gonna hire her again because they're gonna be too scared she's gonna sue them. i kinda wish she left this lawsuit til after the show ended, because then maybe we could see her again in a flashback or something :/

Sometimes I wish she would just leave the past behind her and let go off it. I know it must have been hard being treated unfairly but it sure happens in life, even more in Hollywood Frownif this lawsuit didn't happen I bet she would be on another show. She did that comedy pilot in 2010 with the writers and director of Borat and she was supposed to play a washep up English actress in there, but CBS got scared of this lawsuit thingy and publicity that goes with it so they backed off.

I'm gonna have to catch up a little hereTongue out

Drea de Matteo isn't a bad actress, she's actually pretty good. To be honest, aside from DH I only saw her in the Sopranos, but she was brilliant there and a bad actress can't get a lucky streak for 5 years in a row.

Part of what makes her seem bad is the writing, imo, especially after 6.10. Things really went downhill when the mystery unraveled and there's only so much you could do with that material. Drea is a great actress, she just didn't get the chance to show it of on DH.

Dana isn't a shiner in the comedy department, but she has delivered some of the best dramatic scenes in DH history imo. Her confrontation with Wayne in the kitchen, the flashbacks in the season 4 finale, the mental breakdown in 6.10,... Yes, some comedic scenes weren't that great, with the one with the organ thing standing out, but I always loved her on DH and she did a great job.

Vanessa has surprised me as well. I didn't really know her before, aside from the occasional Ugly Betty episode, but she's really good on this show. She's mostly played for laughs, which can get a bit repetitive sometimes, but she does great in the drama department. Those scenes with Bree and especially the one where she mentions her mother belongs in the top 5 scenes of the season for me.

Emily Bergl should be mentioned as well. She did a wonderful job in the little time she was given and I loved her breakdown in 7.16. There was a bit of slump in the writing around 6.10-6.14 and I didn't find her very convincing when Paul kicked her out, but she came to the Lane and went away in the most memorable ways ever, so I still feel very fond of the character. One of the best supporting characters since the time jump.

I don't have much with Alfre Woodard. She didn't have a chance to shine and the writing was really subpar, so I can't really judge. I liked her limited appearances on True Blood, but to say she was outstanding? Nah, she's just okay imo.

Neal McDonough wasn't good. I haven't seen him in anything else and I feel like that has become a choice for me, not to watch anything he's in. I just didn't like his face when he was casted as Dave and when the season was over, I just didn't want to see him anymore. He didn't do too bad considering the role he was given, it was just too much of the same and while he was supposed to get some sympathy with that whole car wreck thing, he didn't.

Most of the time Mark Moses returns on the screen, I cringe. He isn't that good and I hope he doesn't have a big role on Mad Men, because I'm planning on starting to watch it. He was fine in the first few seasons, but in season 7 he did nothing for me and I only tolerated him because he was a way to bring Felicia back.

Cody Kasch is a horrible actor. HORRIBLE. He was okay in season 1, too bratty in season 2 and plain annoying in season 3. But last year's scenes are the top fastforward-scenes of the entire season for me. Ugh, I just couldn't stand him. Maybe because it felt out of place for some reason, Zach just didn't seem to fit into the entire scheme. But he just didn't do well in those look-at-me-I'm-high scenes.

Was Drea really that good on 'The Sopranos'? Cos before season 6 premiered I watched her death scene on YouTube and... didn't like it. Not convincing. Maybe that influenced my oppinion of her somehow, because I remember even before the season started thinking I'd be disappointed by her. And I was. Especially in 6.11.

I have only seen like 2 or 3 episodes and watched her death on youtube about 2 years ago. It was ... weird. Depressing, gave me creeps. Her acting was quite decent in that, although not the best nor convincing. I watched like 10 episodes of Joey a few years back on HBO and she was annoying there, her character was dreadful - it was practically Angie put in a bad sitcom. The only good thing about that crappy show was the always hysterical Jennifer Coolidge. I also watch Californication from time to time and she was guest starring there last month as a stripper, and yeah I know what crossed your mind Renato ... it WAS a stripper version of Angie.Laughing
